Detailed Reviews
What a wonderful stay!! We were only in York for one night, but will be back for a long weekend. Arriving at Avon Terrace Guesthouse and being welcomed by Paula, was a joy in itself. Her friendly nature already proved it would be a wonderful stay. Paula then showed us through the wonderfully presented property. From the pressed tin ceilings to the jarrah fixings, balconies front and back, we were in awe of the love that both Paula and hubby Stephan has put into the property. Our room was immaculate, with a king-size bed fitted with an electric blanket, sparkling clean ensuite, robe for our suitcases, reverse cycle aircon, large tv on the wall and seating at both the front and back balconies. A kettle, tea, coffee, sugar also supplied in the room. The back balcony was huge, with a large spa that overlooked the back manicured gardens. A nice surprise in the minibar was milk, some chocolates and cooldrink, for our stay. We had dinner at the Imperial Hotel, which was practically next door - the staff and food was excellent, highly recommend for dinner. The king-size bed was very comfortable and in the morning, waiting downstairs was our complimentary breakfast, a huge choice of cereals, yoghurt, fruit, toast, crumpets etc. There is not one negative I could say. From our hosts, the room and amenities, the sleep, the breakfast, all was 5 star service. I 100% recommend Avon Terrace Guesthouse. Thankyou Paula and Stephan, Dave and I will certainly be back to stay

We had a gorgeous stay - spa on the balcony, very comfortable room and beautiful period features. York is full of heritage and a great place to stroll around and relax. The owners served us a delicious cooked breakfast complete with lovely touches such as home-made jam and mulberry syrup for our yoghurt. Highly recommended.

A fantastic find in the heart of York. This is a gorgeous guest house hosted by the warm & welcoming Paula & Stephen. Rooms are comfortable & tastefully decorated to reflect the guest house's history, upstairs balcony features a spa over-looking greenery & church spire. Walk to local sites, right on the main street with secure parking out the back. We had a lovely stay here, loved that the guest house has had various incarnations & lives. Treat yourself to a bit of luxury, great breakfast & hospitality. Very comfortable & quiet rooms with upstairs rooms enjoying balcony at front & rear of rooms. Can't recommend enough! Wanted to stay longer

We had an absolutely stunning stay at this Avon Terrace guest house. From the moment we arrived, Stefan warmly welcomed us & showed us around, he made us feel completely at home.
The quality of the fixtures and fittings was exceptional, everything has been thoughtfully chosen to provide a luxurious touch. The shower was a great size, and the beautiful crisp sheets and bedding made for an incredibly comfortable night's sleep.
Everything was sparkling clean, which really added to the overall feeling of care and attention to detail.
The breakfast was delicious and beautifully presented. Thank you to the amazing hosts Paula and Stefan, we wished we could stay longer. Photos don’t do justice, this place exceeded all our expectations, you will not be disappointed.

This is a wonderful place to stay. Great location in York which is a beautiful little town. Paula and Stephan were wonderful hosts. The room was spacious and had everything we needed. Comfy bed. Walk in robe and ensuite. Two balconies and use of spa on back balcony. We stayed at the weekend and got cooked breakfast both mornings which was delicious. Qill stay again and recommend for couples who want a quiet beautiful b and b to stay in.

Amazing hosts, Fantastic room, great breakfast. Our short stay in York was made even better with our stay at Avon Terrace. Paula and Stephen greeted us on arrival and then offered to drop us off at the races. Pickup and back for a spa before dinner. Morning breakfast was great after a sleep in. Highly recommend, book direct for the best price.
