Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Had different expectations so slightly disappointed but good value for what we paid. For $114 we got a very very clean, renovated, small, but ok room. A comfortable bed. Good hot water. Good a/c. Peaceful at night. Central. Practical self checking. The bathroom design was most impractical. No room for personal stuff. To store toilet bags, the choice was : the inside of the sink, or the top of the toilet seat or the floor. The shower was inside a high wall bath (spa) with slippery floor. I wobbled trying to balance to wash my feet. Very unsafe. The picture that went with my booking showed a room with two attractive antique looking chairs on each side of a lovely double door window and you could see some outdoor furniture. It looked attractive. Our section was not as per pictures or description. The balcony was in fact the passage way that had 4 old outdoor chairs to share between 6 rooms. As the only (not locking) window opened on the passageway we had to keep the blind down for privacy therefore the room was dark and needed the light on, which was strange in the middle of the afternoon. Later on, 4 people staying in the other 4 rooms decided to have a sit down chat and moved the 4 outdoor chairs together near our room. We were trying to have a rest but the walls very flimsy so we know all about their lives, what they did that day and what their expectations are for tomorrow but we did not get to rest. We wanted an upstairs room so we could have “privacy” and use the “balcony” . Mmmm… If I would stay there again, I would get a downstairs room and probably one facing the street as it would be quiet and more private. I would also go for a stand alone shower. What we had for the price we paid sorted of suited our purpose. So in conclusion you get what you paid for and don’t rely on the description and photos.

Tired Accommodation . Room 16 has not been upgraded since the 80’s when it was new ! It was advertised as a queen room ( to me that’s a queen bed ) the double bed is the original one in the room since it was brand new in the 80’s . Hard uncomfortable squeaky bed and if one persons moved it woke them other person . Bathroom fittings old . New tv on the wall was the only concession , brick dust still on the wall . Bath with no hand rail in to hold climbing in and out of bath when having a shower ! Dangerous wiring with extension leads. NO WIF The rooms are owned by different people ours obviously runs it cheaply . Expensive for what we got not value for money . Wouldn’t stay again .

Had lunch here with my sister food quite nice and came on time. Service was very good and served it with a smile. The reason I would not go back is it a bar is very close to restaurant seating noise from people speaking very loudly from the bar area is quite concerning. I guess if you want to hear the rumours about York it may be a good place to eat.

I normally don't write reviews, but I wanted to make people aware of this hotel.I stayed with my wife and 2 children in the family room. I found it to be awful, beds not comfy bathroom dated and riddled with ants, . I certainly won't be back
