This farm stay is just fantastic. We stayed with our 2 year old and she had the absolute best time here.
There are 9 accommodation units varying in the number of rooms per unit (some units are adjoining so you can have large family groups together). We stayed in the Kirribilli 2 bedroom unit (sleeps up to 6 people). It is very modern, beautifully set up, immaculately clean and has everything you need including kitchen if you want to cook for yourself (portacot and high chair included). The kitchen and lounge are in one big spacious room. A separate large bathroom with toilet is off the corridor. We were welcomed with freshly baked homemade bread which was just delicious, making a lovely personal touch.
The farm itself is very well maintained, you can see the pride in the place of the efforts of Kath and Merv.
The animals are all happy and well looked after. Feeding of the animals in the late afternoon is great fun for young and old, make sure you wear shoes you don't mind getting poop on.
You can wonder around the farm in between feeding but staying behind the fence to view at a safe distance. The views around the property are just picturesque and the Avon River is a very short walk down the back of the farm.
There is a kids playground with swings, playhouse, treehouse of sorts and a trampoline.
York township is 10 minutes drive away.
Lavendale Farmstay is a great holiday getting back amongst nature, animals away from the hustle and bustle of Perth.
Highly recommend, we will be back for sure

We are 4 adults and 2 boys, had a wonderful 2 nights stay at Kirribilli cottage. Warm & cozy during winter starry nights. All kitchen amenities provided and a bbq outside for dinner. Well equipped, peaceful surrounds, friendly animals, lovely hosts Katherine & Merv. We took a walk by the river as suggested, excellent advice as we had a great time with many photos. We hope to return, soon.

Really pleasant stay at Lavendale Farm. Upon arrival, we were warmly welcome by Katherine, who is always very helpful and so friendly, and even presented us with a basket of freshly baked loaf and eggs!

The cottage was very well-maintained with lots of well-thought touches - high chair, booster seat, portable cot for the young ones. There was also a fully functional kitchen with microwave oven, huge fridge, essential crockery and utensils. Every thing was clean and neat. The beds were really comfortable as well with plushy sheets and even stuffed bears for the kiddies. There was also a DVD player with LCD TV in the living room - totally made us feel like home.

Out in the farm, there is a huge playground complete with trampoline for the kids. My two boys were totally in love the Tonka trucks on the sandpit - until they met Ralph, the resident cat! Feeding time in the evening is a totally enriching experience where we get to hand-feed the Alpacas, goats, ostrich, ducks and chickens. The kids also get to help out with the feed for the horses and donkeys and get to handpick an egg each for their efforts. It was also a joy to watch Hector the pig perform a little trick to get his treat!

At night, the skies were shrouded in a blanket of glittering stars which was quite a sight to behold. For those who prefer to drive out for meals, York town is just 10 mins drive away, suffice with a well-stocked IGA grocery store and surrounded by a number of quaint cafes and even a Chinese restaurant.

Had only stayed for two nights - really wish we had stayed longer!

We had a wedding to attend in York on Saturday the 29th of November. Looking around on the internet, we came across this place, and, as a lot of places do it looked great on the Web. We booked for two nights, the Friday & Saturday & paid one night's tarrif in advance as a deposit. We actually didn't arrive until the Saturday, having notified the owners that this would be the case.
On our arrival, we were led to our chalet, the "Bali Hi" and given a loaf of homemade bread and some eggs. Sounds, good, but without any butter we could not have the bread as toast in the morning.
Our host then informs us that the whole place was Solar powered now, and we had to conserve power. - No problem, as we were only really going to be sleeping there anyway. However, the owners had stripped all of the laundry facilties from the chalets, including the iron & ironing boards! My wife needed to iron her dress & I needed to iron a shirt for the wedding. (We had been travelling for the past 3 days, so things were a little crumpled)
When we approched the owner about using an iron, she seemed a little miffed and said that she didn't know if it would work, and to plug it in & use it before too many guests arrived and the power became in demand. The iron was decrepid, and so was the board which had no padding. - We only just made the wedding in time!

The rest of the facilities were tired, with a dust-bowl that passed as a children's playground adjacent to a fenced pool that sported a huge sign that said :"NOT FOR GUEST USE" What????? If you had kids there they would be pestering you to use the pool. If the owners wanted to keep it for their own use, they should have built it out of site within the grounds of their own residence.

The animals on the farm (Donkey, Ostrich) had no shade when we left at 10.00am the next day. Hmmmmmmm.

All up, it was not a very enjoyable experience and for AUD$195.00 per night, you would expect a lot more.

Katherine was extremely unfriendly. A lot of restrictions in the stay, no wifi service and not flexible. I will not recommend this farmstay to anyone. Other farmstay is much better than Lavendale which they provide dinner and breakfast, most important the host was very friendly and warm welcome on our arrival.

We visited lavendale farm for a weekend in September with our 3 kids aged 7, 5 and 2. We had a lovely relaxing weekend exploring York and spending time on the farm. The kids particularly loved feeding the animals and the campfire on Saturday night. The cabins were very comfortable and well equipped and the owners were very welcoming and accommodating. All in all a great weekend out of the city.

We had a brief overnight stay at Lavendale Farm and stayed in one of the Rose and Orchard Cottages. The outside of the chalet and the photos we had previously seen did not do it justice. Being almost brand new, it was spotless, and very tastefully decorated. The theme of english roses and calming green flowed throughout, right down to the oven mitt. The sofa and the bed are both good quality and very comfortable. The pot belly kept us very warm. We received a fresh loaf of home made bread and fresh farm eggs on arrival. In the evening we got to meet the various farm animals. There was an abundance of native birds. The whole property looks great and Katherine and Merv were lovely and very welcoming hosts. Great option for a cosy winter getaway.

During our one-night stay at the farm, we experienced by far the best hospitality we had in Perth from Katherine and Merv. Though our stay was short, we had truly an authentic and rich time with the animals and got to try our hands at daily tasks on the farm (milking the goats, feeding them, brushing the ponies). They were very knowledgeable and had many stories to share about each animal. (P.S. look out for Ralph the ginger cat - he’s super friendly)

Katherine and Merv have really adapted the living space to different seasons of the year. The rooms are cosy and beds are definitely comfortable to sleep in.

We had 3 home-cooked meals (lunch, dinner and breakfast) during our stay, all of which never failed to give us a sense of home and their kind hospitality. I would love to get the recipe for their custard croissant dessert.

Don’t sleep too early because from 11pm onwards, the night sky is literally filled with stars and we were lucky to have spotted a shooting star that night. At midnight, the sky is the darkest and the stars are the brightest. I would recommended bringing along a telescope or a suitable camera to capture this beauty.

Overall, we really wish we could extend our stay and have more lovely conservations with Katherine and Merv. Highly recommended and a must-see must-do must-go place. About 1.5hrs drive from Perth CBD but it is definitely worth it (get some fly nets along the way)

Just came back yesterday from an amazing experience that’ll be etched in our memories for life. Visited the Lavendale farm for a couple of nights with a group of 10 families including kids of all ages and I can safely say that every single person had an experience beyond expectations at a farmstay. Farmer Katherine and Merv were excellent hosts and served amazing homemade bread upon arrival. The cottages were immaculate with attention to detail at a level you would not generally get in a farmstay in WA. We had the Lodge, Kirribilli, Farmhouse, Quarters, Bali Hai and Valencia to ourselves and the quality of these accomodations was superb. Kids had a ball within the common room between Lodge and Kirribilli plus animal feeding and tractor ride was a hit amongst kids and families. Also the kids spent plenty of time in their play area infront of the farmhouse. The icing on the cake was the campfire which took place on our first night. Farmer Katherine and farmer Merv made us have a memorable experience and participated within our games around the fire whole heartedly. Lovely people without any doubt. The farmstay is just over an hour away from Perth and gives one an excellent country side experience. York town centre is 10 mins away to get some groceries or a meal. All in all highly recommended for couples and families.

The drive was seamless, the GPS did not disappoint . Took less than 2 hours of urban/rural drive with plenty of scenery.

We were pleasantly surprised at the cleanliness and modernity of our accommodation as well as the warm reception and friendliness of our hosts, farmers Katherine and Merv.

There were ample activities for our daughter and ourselves to indulge for a few hours, topped by up close interaction with animals. During the day, we opted to drive out to check out nearby towns of York and Beverly. We ended our stay on a high with bbq dinner by the porch , enjoying mother nature and cool weather.

Seeing the delight and enjoyment of our daughter brought total joy to us parents! This place is a must for those looking for a memorable experience of Aussie farm life .
