Every year we plan a short break out of Perth for our anniversary, which falls on the winter equinox. After some time scouring the net and trawling through overpriced and expensive AirBnb's we gave up. Then, by chance, we found a BnB instead, in the quaint historic town of York. So we took the easy, scenic drive through the countryside, just over an hour and a bit, arriving late in the afternoon. First impressions as we drove down the street was seeing this almost palacial home on a very large block with ample parking out front. Ron the other owner is also very friendly and escorted us to the rear to secure our bikes in anticipation of some exercise over the next few days. We had spoken to Leanne the owner earlier - what a delightful, friendly person she was. The big surprise was when she added an extra night at no charge as we were staying for a few days. So we were awarded a huge 3 bedroom unit on the top floor with views to the front. The 72 inch TV is so big I could almost get a suntan in front of it. Continental breakreakfast was served in our unit every morning and there is a guest lounge downstairs with comfortable sofa and complimentary port, sherry, red wine and white wine for guests. York is a town shrouded in convict history, boasts several pubs, restaurants and cafes, facilities for campers, and plenty of walks to take in the beautiful old historic houses and buildings, though beware some places had unusual opening hours. Mt Brown is a nice drive to the top, or you can choose to walk the road or meander through the bush tracks to the top which guarantees spectacular views across the valley. It is a brilliant location to do some Astrophotography, with really black nights (subject to moon phases) and no light pollution. I had my first try at this and was really pleased to have taken some spectacular images of the Milky Way and other interesting features in the sky. Leanne and Ron are a delightful couple and went out of their way to assist and gave us a lovely thankyou card on departure. Thanks so much. Susan and Cliff from Perth.

What a gem of a B&B this place is , Ron and Leanne couldn’t have been more helpful and went out of there way to make sure your stay was pleasant even to the point of making afternoon tea for the guests and this was a real treat.Good continental breakfast included in the price or for a small fee you could have had a hearty cooked breakfast . Would highly recommend this place for anyone to stay does not disappoint

Good morning Darcy, Thankyou for your lovely and positive review. We are pleased you managed to take advantage of all the extra treats we provide as part of our standard fare. We have travelled extensively, and enjoy making our guests feel welcomed and valued. Whilst all tariffs include extensive selection of continental breakfast goodies, we are particularly pleased that you made mention of our cooked breakfast options, and anticipate that we will meet all of our guests' breakfast requirements with this optional extra. Once again, thankyou for taking the time to leave this review, and we look forward to you returning some time in the future. Our kindest Regards Ron and Leanne Lee

We loved our short stay at the Grandhouse York. The hosts went above and beyond to see that our needs were met.
We stayed in the room at the front which was spacious and very comfortable with everything we needed for our short stay. The room had plenty of cups, glasses, plates, bowls etc. It was also fitted with electronic external roller shutters which were very effective in cutting out the strong summer light (it was a very hot weekend when we were there). The aircon unit kept us comfortably cool without being noisy and the king size bed was comfortable. The bathroom is spacious with a good shower.
We have definitely added this property onto our list of places to stay when we’re next in the region!

Our ground floor suite had a large king bed, breakfast bar, fridge, dining table and 2 lounge chairs, and a large well equipped bathroom and walk in robe. It was also air conditioned. Easy covered car parking and good access to the room, with no steps. Nice hosts, helpful local advice, reasonably priced.

This was my first time in York and I was so impressed with the Grand House. Appearance wise, it was clean, quirky, rooms were great size and I really felt like I was in a home away from home. Leanne and Ron are fantastic owners. Very friendly and were happy to help with anything. The breakfast was yummy and much appreciated. I’m not a Jam lover but my goodness the homemade blueberry jam is to die for. My party was 3 mums and our toddler sons staying over 3 bedrooms and we were made to feel so at ease with plenty for the boys to do on the property. My son even collected an egg from the chicks! We will be back :)

Our Room was extremely well furnished with all of the amenities required. The hospitality of the owners was exceptional. They were friendly and extremely hospitable. There were lots of little extras(including the chocolate muffins, wine etc) that were provided that really showed the hosts go the "extra mile"in making your stay special.
We had already heard about the special breakfast provided but it still exceeded our expectations .The beautiful freshly baked goodies and farm fresh eggs were delicious. We will most certainly stay at the Grand House again.

We had a beautifully furnished suite and I don’t think there was a thing the hosts had not thought of to make the visit as comfortable and stress free as possible. The beds really comfortable and the bathroom was heated with really hot water. Thoroughly recommended. A pity our stay was so short!

We spent 2 nights mid week at this B&B. Firstly we were welcomed by Ron who has a great sense of humour and knowledgeable about the area and eating places. We had a ground floor room, spacious and very clean, this room also has a private courtyard and private access if you wish to use it. Due to Covid continental breakfast is served in your room. We had a large selection and everything was tasty. Location is perfect for a stroll across the swing bridge into town. Would definitely recommend.

We have just stayed 2 nights at the Grandhouse. Our hosts Leanne and Ron were very nice and very attentive. There was everything we could possibly need in the room. We had a wonderful cooked breakfast the first morning then after driving through to Cunderdin we actually called back to stay a second night as we could not find any pet friendly accomodation in Northam. We enjoyed a very generous continental breakfast on the second morning. It was so nice to have our little dog stay with us in the room. I would recommend this B& B to anyone wanting a night or 2. The only downside was the noise of the trucks right past the door but it was just after harvest and the noise stopped around tea time so the nights were fine. . We were told this is only seasonal. We would definitely come again..
