Everyone had an excellent night.
Wanted the works... Not hard! Don't know what I got... But it was covered in cheese and nasty crust.
$60 later....
😭
Don't go here for a meal....
Not particularly cheap but price reflects lack of competition. I didn't visit the pub or it's dining room but appeared to be fairly well patronised, which is always a good sign
The room itself was tidy and very clean, and freshly painted. It really is a 2.5 star place, and doesn't try to be anything but. There are only about 8 rooms, and is next to the Hotel.
The facilities were good enough, the shower was excellent, though the decor was vintage. However, being clean was all I needed.
The only downsides were that the mattress was very old and worn out, so barely passable; and being next to a pub on a Friday night meant the noise was expected and did arrive. Though it quietened down relatively early in the evening.
Given the very limited options, it is good value at $110 per night. The bar food was passable, and the servings were huge, though the prices were typical WA, astronomical for what you get.
The bakery down the road does an excellent line in cakes, breads and pastries if you don't want to eat at the pub cafe.
The Wongan Hills hotel, has great meals, and the accommodation is basic but a real step back in time. So if you like an old Art Deco original pub with great meals, and great service - with a smile, go try it for the weekend. We cannot speak highly enough of the owner, staff and the pub itself, well done to all that work there, you can see that a lot hard work has been done to make it comfortable for guests. Not sure about the winter, I didn't see a heater in the room. Bed was great, loved sitting out on the wide verandah at night, and the large bathroom across the hall. Would highly recommend.

"Ask for a verandah room..and away from the bar area - a bit of noise on a Friday night."Read full review
