OPENS EARLY FOR BREAKFAST. THE OWNERS HAVE SPENT THE MONEY DOING UP THE OLD SHAMROCK HOTEL AND NORTHAM IS THE BETTER FOR IT. STAFF FRIENDLY AND LOTS OF TABLES INSIDE AND OUT. NICE BAR CALL THE TEMPERANCE BAR WHICH IS FUNNY AS THE TEMPERANCE MOVEMENT WAS ANTI DRINKING. DIDNT STAY IN HOTEL JUST EARLY BREAKFAST. 7.30am

Rooms are great and well appointed similar to Katanning…. Apart from the similarity that’s about it. Dinner was not great but judge for yourself… Travelling for business but @ $325 per night you would expect room to be serviced.. Note to self “Can not service room with out the Make Up Room on the Door”

We travelled to the Farmers Hotel as a family with our 8 month old baby. The room was extremely clean and modern, but still with a lovely federation style charm about it. It was very spacious and had plenty of space for our port a cot and pram etc. The staff were extremely helpful and even allowed us a late checkout with no extra cost to fit in with our baby’s morning nap time. The wine bar was also lovely; staff were friendly and helpful and the tapas were yum. We were in Northam overnight for a balloon flight, but if we were ever to stay in Northam again I would definitely stay here and would also recommend it to others.

Beautiful historic hotel that has been sympathetically restored with modern conveniences internally. Extremely comfortable bed and great pillows. We didn't like the glass panelling and doors to the ensuites as there is no privacy but, each to their own. A bit pricey but convenient as "Liberty Balloon Flights" pick their passengers up from here and drop you back to the Dome, which is attached, for breakfast. Highly recommend.

Quaint hotel in Northam. We stayed at the sister hotel in Katanning and have been wanting to stay at Farmers from our experience at Premier Inn. We enjoyed our stay and were welcome and checked in with no issues and shown around andcto our room. Rooms are cute we stayed in one of the smaller rooms and bathroom a tight squeeze. Rooms are decorated really modern and bed very comfy. Tea and Coffee is not in your room, however they have a separate amenities room for this, same as Premier Inn. My only disappointment was that by 9pm Temperence bar and Dome closed. Basically nothing else to do but sit on balcony have a tea or watch TV in room. There was no sitting area to sit in the hotel have a drink with our friends. Most of the town had closed up too except for the 2 pubs up the road. All in all, it is a little gem in Northam. .

It was the delightful greeting we received from Bec Edgell that set the tone of our stay at The Farmers Home Hotel. One of the warmest greetings I've ever experienced ...... "Thank you again Bec" Meeting Rod Black, General Manger of the hotel was another excellent experience. We are looking forward to returning very soon for more of this genuine country hospitality that sings in one's memory

This is the most accommodating establishment I have had the pleasure of staying at. This was a return visit as I was so impressed the first time. Unfortunately my department booked my room for March instead of February. The manager who was about to leave for the evening came back to help me and was able to give me another room. To add the cherry on the top I was also given a free upgrade. I cannot fault the friendliness of bar staff and those in the Dome cafe. Highly recommend for a single night or even longer. The bed is huge and so are the pillows! Well done Farmers Home!

The Farmers Home has to be the jewel in the crown of Northam accommodation. We found our room amazing and the level of service and friendliness outstanding. For example, imagine getting a text on the way to Northam to say we could check in whenever it suited us as our room was ready earlier than expected. When did that last happen to you? What a great start to our weekend at the hotel. The Temperance Bar is a great venue to spend a Saturday night grazing in tapas. We had live music the night we were there. Many thanks to Tony and Rod.

Northam has never been high on my list of WA towns to visit but the Farmers Home Hotel enticed us as its been developed by the same people who did the fantastic flour mill hotel in Katanning. This hotel matches, and exceeds in many areas, the Katanning one. Check-in is 2pm but we got a message just before noon saying our room was ready and we could check in early, which we did. Our welcome (and farewell the following day) was top notch and super helpful. Thanks for your time, Rod. Our room (#107) was large, airy and light with two double doors leading directly onto the large verandah. There were two comfy chairs and a small table outside which we took advantage of later in the afternoon. The room was modern but with nods to the old (e.g. painted wooden paneling around the room. The comfy kingsize bed had a bedside table on each side. There were two low lounge chairs, a lovely fireplace, a small bench and stool, plus a large tv. The separate bathroom had an external window that let in lots of light. The rain shower was very good with ample hot water and good pressure. A small box of brochures including a history of the hotel, map and booklet on day trips ( a great initiative as there's not a lot to do in Northam for more than one day), and a menu for the bar and adjoining Dome, were a good addition. While the room we were in had a modernised look, the public areas maintained their old charm. There was a fantastic cornice, for example. At the other end of the hotel from our room was a public valet room where one could get extra blankets etc. but also make a plunger of coffee or a mug of tea. Fresh fruit was also available. As a tea drinker, I was happy with the range of teas available. A small fridge contained normal milk as well, surprisingly, oat, soy and almond milk. Wow. The corridor back to our room was easy to negotiate with my mugs of tea. The hotel has a bar - the Temperance Bar - which opened at 3pm when we visited. We went down there around 5.15pm and stayed for a couple of hours. We had two glasses of wine each and a cheese board, initially, then fries with our second drink. Anton, a serious but efficient and helpful young man, was behind the bar. Our only issue with our share plates was that the cheddar never appeared on the cheese board although there were two bries and a blue cheese with the second brie replacing the cheddar. First world problem! The serve was large and filling. Before staff shortages hit the regions - a very real problem - the adjoining Dome served evening meals. When we visited the hours had been reduced to 6am - 3pm so the Temperance Bar was the way to go. We did have a nice breakfast in Dome the following morning (see separate review). Note that there is a good amount of parking out the back of the hotel. We had no problems from a safety aspect. Farmer's Home Hotel isn't cheap but it's worth the cost. The people helping to save, and re-purpose, some of the state's old buildings in the regions are to be commended and supported. Declaration - I was born and grew up in country WA but moved to Perth when I was 18yo. I know how tough it can be out there. I highly recommend this hotel and would stay again at the drop of a hat. I'd probably want room 107 again, though. We had a great time.

Check in with Abigail was fast and efficient. Abigail walked us to our room and showed us around the hotel upon checkin. In our booking we asked for a room in a quiet location as I am a lite sleeper, this was acknowledged upon checkin and we were whisked away toward the back of the hotel. Thank You! We booked a King Room and it was a great size. The leadlight window in the room is beautiful and a real feature. The big rain shower and water pressure and temperature were amazing. The room was very clean and the towels fluffy and white. USB ports for charging you devices on both sides of the bed and desk. The hotel has been beautifully decorated. There is a silly little fridge in the room, in all our travels we have never seen anything so useless [see phot attached]. There is a self service room where you can go and make a bodum of coffee, cup of team and get extract towels, glasses etc We were very surprised that there wasn't alot more noise coming from outside our room with wooden corridor floors and alot of other adjoining room doors [internal & external], so from that perspective we found it pretty good. One of the attractive options of staying where we did is that is has an attached Dome café as we both love our coffee, however is was very disappointing to find that apart from the day we were departing it was always closed early i.e. around noon every day. While we understand staff shortages to be the cause, being a large corporate surely they are in a position to attract staff above local vendors. Talking to locals, they advised that Spudshed pays more than Dome, so why wouldn't you go work at Spudshed! The hotel is also run and owned by Dome. This is why we haven't rated our review with a 5 star. Parking is an open find a parking bay at the back of the hotel. Not sure about security of your vehicles there though. We were lucky enough to park out the front and the hotel security cameras were on our car whilst parked there. Apart from the outstanding service by Abigail at reception whom we believe has now left the organisation, overall the stay was not a wow and does not match the premium cost. The internal Temperance Bar - There is a broader menu than the 'from the kitchen menu' in the bar - which we didnt know we could order from until after we had placed our order. We did see this in our room however the menu has a header that reads "Dome" so we naturally thought as Dome was closed we wouldnt be able to order from it, however this was an incorrect assumption and poor advertising!! - Order early as they run out of food options. - Food and drinks were good. - The guy behind the bar on the Sunday night of the long weekend in September was great and friendly.

Dear Moji N, Thank you for taking the time to leave your extensive thoughts for Farmers' Home and you have offered a lot for us to reflect on. One thing I would like to respond to, is that myself and the team here are very proud of our company heritage and vison, without which, Farmers Home would never have been conceptualised, designed, built and operated. We hope we get the chance to welcome you again in future. Best Regards, Rod Black General Manager Farmers Home Hotel
