This is a stunning hotel. Up till now, there have been very few places to stay within an hour of the city which are worth driving to as a destination in themselves. This hotel is what Northam, and Perth, has been missing. It's an old building filled with history and stories of ghosts, that has been done up with simple, elegant, luxury. The Temperance Bar is a beautiful nod to an elegant past, with bespoke cocktails and rare tinctures. This hotel is a reason to leave the city; it is a superb base to explore the Wheatbelt or even just to live well for a night. Highly recommended.
We arrived at the Farmers Home and we loved the vibe of the place , being situated right in the middle of town and opposite the river area . Great service , beautiful room , great location. We had a quiet night perfect for get away. We will be back again
We stayed at the Farmers Home hotel for one night and wish it had been longer. After staying at the "sister" premises in Katanning ( Premier Mill hotel ) we wondered whether this could be as good. Well, it is. The renovation of the old building is pure quality and makes the vibe very homely and warm. The Temperance Bar is the perfect place for a drink and quality share plates and simply stepping into the adjoining Dome cafe means meals are right there. A special mention of thanks to our host Abbi provides a top class welcome and explanation of the hotel and amenities. Do yourself a favour and stay there.
This is a welcoming comfortable beautifully renovated hotel with spacious rooms. Our bathroom had Aesop toiletries, a lovely rain shower and fluffy towels. The bed was very comfortable and we had a private balcony with steps down to an alfresco area. A lovely touch is the booklets provided in the room which provide plenty of information about the renovation and trips in the area. The Dome serves the usual but it is a large cafe with comfortable seating. Comfort seems to be a theme in this review! We enjoyed eating in the Temperance Bar, the food is very good and there is a wide selection of wine by the bottle, cocktails and non-alcoholic drinks. We enjoyed walking by the Avon river and our visit to the Bilya Koort Boodja centre. The manager, Rod, is solicitous and helpful. Housekeeping and Bar staff are inexperienced but receiving training…
Stayed here for one night as we planned a hiking day trip in the area. The hotel is really beautiful, lovingly restored, and with a sense of history about it. The beds are comfy, rooms have all the amenities of a lux hotel in the city. The staff were excellent and the food and drinks on offer perfect. You can choose from the Temperance Bar for share plate style tapas and cocktails or the Dome Cafe. We opted for the bar for dinner and Dome for breakfast. Perfect place to use as a base if you want to check out the area. We will be staying here again.
