The Railway Motel and Woodlands Guesthouse provides comfortable rooms with character and charm in a relaxed, friendly environment. The old hotel has been converted into delightful en suite rooms with large bathrooms and spa baths while the motel units are cheap, clean and comfortable. Three of the motel units are pet friendly. All the rooms have reverse cycle air conditioning, television, fridge, microwave, kettle and hot drinks. A complimentary light self serve breakfast is provided in the foyer of the old hotel. This is often quite a social event. The motel does not provide evening meals but guests need only walk 200 metres to the local hotel which provides a range of hearty meals or takeaways. There is also a barbecue in the courtyard for guests to use.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Simple room but everything was nice and clean and allowed dogs. Can hear the occasional freight train as it is on the railway line but was a great place to sleep while on the road trip from WA to SA. Owner was friendly.

Enjoyed this very much, super location close to town, pub (good food). Stayed in main building, room 1, which is actually configured as a two room apartment. The room has character and like the main building some art-deco touches. Shows its age in some areas however the linens were clean. Loved it!

The guesthouses are at the side of this historic motel. The guesthouses look basic from the outside, but rooms have been refurbished to a great standard. Mid size room which are clean warm and have comfy bed. Nice updated bathroom with lovely hot showers. The young lady at reception Chantal was extremely friendly and very helpful. Good value for money as the price included free laundry and a free breakfast. Good location as you can walk into town.

Lovely clean newly renovated room, big comfy bed, and the shower was amazing!! Theresa was really lovely and very friendly. We came through at the end of March driving to SA after my Mum passed away suddenly, not only did Theresa upgrade our room, she personally made our visit stress free and was extremely helpful.

Unexpected find on our trip home, rooms very spacious (we were in #1). Lady that checked us in sorry we forgot your name was very friendly and helpful. Self serve breakfast (toast and cereals) looked good but we didn’t try as we left early. Walking distance to the pub for a quick meal.

A great spot to stay over for our first night of our Perth - Melbourne drive. Easy to book and wasn't a problem having our small dog with us. We stayed in one of the pet friendly units out the back and had clear instructions on how to get into the main building for breakfast. We were heading off early, but everything was there for us to access. Therese was a terrific host and let us know where to go for dinner that our dog was welcome to join us. Units were super clean and fresh smelling and there was nothing to imply that it was a unit for pet accommodation. Would definitely stay there again.

Norseman always was and still is a gold mining town and it’s definitely deserving of a stopover. There’s a bit to see and history to glean, and don’t miss staying at the Railway Motel & Woodlands Guesthouse. Hospitality in spades! Therese is welcoming and offers all kinds of accommodation for budget travellers, from the spa rooms in the Art Deco hotel building to renovated motel style rooms, which we stayed in, and also some yet-to-be renovated rooms, even more affordable but perfectly comfortable. Don’t judge the motel rooms from the outside: ours was immaculate, freshly painted, new bathroom, air con, top quality linen, comfiest bed and pillows and thoughtful toiletries. Plus a nice verandah and comfy outdoor furniture. Help yourself to included continental breakfast. And a great evening meal at the Norseman hotel 100 yards up the road. Sensational.

We stayed in the motel section (Room 2) for one night in Oct 2022. Nicely renovated unit, very clean with a comfortable bed. Lovely hot shower. Parking at the door. Exterior could do with a bit of TLC but the unit itself was great. Friendly reception. The self service breakfast was great, plenty to choose from. Can get a bit noisy (we had noisy neighbours and a barking dog) but overall, was a great place to stopover for the night. Short walk to the pub for tea.

Its a charming motel. Great pet friendly rooms which are clean and comfortable. I was amazed at the lovely kithen area inside the hotel where you can help yourself to breakfast. Therese is lovely and goes out of her way to help. It's a delightful place to stay

We stayed after step one of Perth to Brisbane drive. It was fine. I'd have loved to stay in the main building which looks interesting but we had a dog and were in one of the motel units. It was a tad run down but clean and the fact that we can stay when travelling with our dog makes it OK by us. Good value too.
