It was dusk but well within check-in timings and the town was empty where I normally stay but... I got the cold shoulder from the motel mangler (yes - I have used the correct word - this person is costing the Motel owners money) ... so, in frustration, I wandered along to the Caltex. I chatted with a local about my need for a shower and bed, she said "No problem - follow me" so I did... to The Railway Motel ... A ring on the bell and a wonderful lady welcomed me with a smile, good cheer and keys to what was a fabulous room... and, all that at a price which was crazy... Sheets - crisp and impeccably made as if done by a Nurse with a harridan Matron watching... The bathroom was huge, the spa pool amazing but in the WA desert - one old chap like me does not want to waste the water. If my wife was with me, well she would want to stay three or four days. On that subject, Norseman is a place you should visit... NOT just blast through coming or going. Great little town - nice people - Good service from Dave the Tow truck bloke... The local shop has most things - it is a mining town... take the shortcut to Hyden, it's very educational on that road. The Railway Motel is a perfect stop, I do not do it justice... The lovely owner has put her heart and soul into an eclectic destination - she deserves a Girl Guide Merit Badge... A great job... I should have stayed longer but time did not permit... The Railway Motel ... GREAT PLACE...…
Such a beautiful place to stay with real character. The room we stayed in was a basic double room but with the most comfortable bed. We had a spa bath in our ensuite and all for $110! The hostess was just so welcoming and lovely - it felt like being reunited with a family friend. All in all a great one night stay and when we are next in Norseman we will certainly stay here.
Wonderful pub with all mod cons, great furnishings and a welcoming hostess. Quite a surprising find and well worth a visit. This is exactly the sort of historical, interesting, comfortable stop that people touring Australia need.
We loved this place, which we found at the end of a long and hot Nullarbor crossing. The building is a lovely green on the outside and amazing on the inside. Not sure what era - Art Deco maybe? We took a motel room out the back, very simple but adequate and the most comfortable beds and pillows. We were too stingy to pay an extra $30 for a spa suite in the main building (next time!) but the looked amazing. Breakfast is put out in the dining room to help yourself. The owner has installed a top quality coffee machine with beans you grind on the spot and real milk! We were directed down the road to the pub for dinner, and that was pretty good too.
We are staying at the hotel now. Got two massive interconnected rooms and spa bathroom. Proprietor could not have been nicer or more helpful. We are very glad we decided to come here. If you like eclectic Aussie hotels then you are going to love this
