The Railway Motel and Woodlands Guesthouse provides comfortable rooms with character and charm in a relaxed, friendly environment. The old hotel has been converted into delightful en suite rooms with large bathrooms and spa baths while the motel units are cheap, clean and comfortable. Three of the motel units are pet friendly. All the rooms have reverse cycle air conditioning, television, fridge, microwave, kettle and hot drinks. A complimentary light self serve breakfast is provided in the foyer of the old hotel. This is often quite a social event. The motel does not provide evening meals but guests need only walk 200 metres to the local hotel which provides a range of hearty meals or takeaways. There is also a barbecue in the courtyard for guests to use.

Quirky quiet clean 1920s Art Deco hotel converted to ensuite rooms - spacious, high ceilings, comfortable bed. Downside is no flyscreens in a place with lots of flies. Not sure wether mosquitoes could be an issue at different time of year. Also Holland blind in bathroom was difficult to close - a problem as its windows not frosted. Bedroom Venetian blind cord was damaged and slats had to be closed by hand. Both windows open onto verandah which all guests have access to. Excellent self-serve breakfast - cereals, toast, juice and coffee machine so could make our own cappuccino. Sadly town itself has become 'unloved' since advent of FIFO workers so over half the miners cottages are now abandoned. But nearby pub still provides good food and IGA supermarket sells wide range of groceries at reasonable prices. Notwithstanding it felt safe and convenientvplace to stay on way to or from Perth.

The only place to stay in Norseman in our opinion. Therase, the lovely Owner/Manager, warmly greeted us on arrival. This is a refurbished Australian art deco former luxury hotel, stylishly decorated with art, oriental carpets, and interesting furnishings. Our room (#15) in the original hotel was excellent - every amenity of a 5-star hotel was provided. Exceptionally clean. Very comfortable bed with beautifully laundered linens and superb pillows - all greatly appreciated after our 800kms drive from Perth. Oh and beautiful hot water. A self-serve continental breakfast is included - every coffee option, every cereal and milk option, and a good range of toast and condiments. As we were there in winter, it was a joy to come home from dinner to fireplaces alight. We cannot fault The Railway Hotel & Woodlands Guesthouse which is full of charm and character - a gem in what is essentially a mining town. Thank you for a relaxing and wonderful stay. We look forward to re-visiting.

The guesthouses are at the side of this historic motel. The guesthouses look basic from the outside, but rooms have been refurbished to a great standard. Mid size room which are clean warm and have comfy bed. Nice updated bathroom with lovely hot showers. The young lady at reception Chantal was extremely friendly and very helpful. Good value for money as the price included free laundry and a free breakfast. Good location as you can walk into town.

The hotel is set back from traffic noise although the ore trains passing through the town could be heard from time to time. We had a comfortable and recently decorated hotel room with a spa bath onsuite. The bed was comfortable and cosy and the was no problems with noise from other residents. A free self-serve continental breakfast was provided downstairs in the morning

We had a broken down vehicle. Terese helped us with accommodation. She went out of her way to make our stay comfortable! The Railway Motel is centre in the Norseman town with walking distance to the pub, IGA, laundromat and more! Contact Terese!

We stayed here on the way home after crossing the Nullarbor. It was a nice, clean and comfortable stay.
There is a railway track beside the motel so you can see and hear the train carrying mined ore going past. It wasn’t loud or disruptive to our sleep.
We paid the $10 extra and stayed in a renovated room. It even had a small kitchenette with sink, bar fridge, stainless steel bench, basic plates and cutleries and an electric wok. We went to the pub for dinner but you can probably cook at the room if you choose to. The room was spacious. The only fault we could pick was the walls noise insulation is not great so you can hear the neighbours next room.

A great spot to stay over for our first night of our Perth - Melbourne drive. Easy to book and wasn't a problem having our small dog with us. We stayed in one of the pet friendly units out the back and had clear instructions on how to get into the main building for breakfast. We were heading off early, but everything was there for us to access. Therese was a terrific host and let us know where to go for dinner that our dog was welcome to join us. Units were super clean and fresh smelling and there was nothing to imply that it was a unit for pet accommodation. Would definitely stay there again.

A delightful old railway hotel built in a pretty awesome Art Deco style. It has so many original features and fixtures, and looks like it is being restored. Travelling with two kids we had a two bedroom unit which was perfect. Therese is welcoming and accommodating. Free continental breakfast with a coffee machine that made better coffee than the roadhouses along the way! Had a really nice stay, could easily settle in for a number of days!

Unexpected find on our trip home, rooms very spacious (we were in #1). Lady that checked us in sorry we forgot your name was very friendly and helpful. Self serve breakfast (toast and cereals) looked good but we didn’t try as we left early. Walking distance to the pub for a quick meal.

Wonderful pub with all mod cons, great furnishings and a welcoming hostess. Quite a surprising find and well worth a visit. This is exactly the sort of historical, interesting, comfortable stop that people touring Australia need.

I was merely a guest there I am not the owner, suggest you call the owner and ask her. Phone: (08) 9039 0003
The owner is a lovely and very accommodating person.
Yes the Railway motel has 3 motel rooms that are "pet friendly". A motel room with queen bed r/c aircon fridge microwave and small ensuite will cost $90 and includes a light self serve breakfast. You can call me on 0890390003 to make a booking. If I'm away from the phone I'll ring you back but it may not be immediate as I don't have a lot of staff.
