Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We were staying in the town for 4 days from nearby minesite. Wandered down to the pub for a feed. Was so impressed. All of the staff were super friendly and helpful, especially with the fact that about 50 of us all rocked up there. 4 of us all ordered the Chicken Parmi. It was probably one of the best I've had in a long time. Fresh & perfectly cooked. Chips & salad were lovely. Could not fault the service or the food. Thank you guys. We had a great night.

We did not stay in the hotel, but decided to treat ourselves to a counter meal. Three of us had the chicken parmigiana and I can say that it was the best I've ever eaten. Chicken was moist and tendered the topping delicious. I had the bacon - deliciously smoky - avocado and hollandaise sauce topped with melted cheese. Salt and pepper squid was melt in the mouth. Salad was fresh and the chips were crunchy with creamy centre, Staff were friendly and welcoming. Meals were $32.

We were told by fellow traveler to come here and order the snapper and only order one meal to share as it would be big. This is what came out. It was fantastic. I couldn't finish my half. The staff are very friendly. It is a great outback Pub. I would highly recommend eating here if you are in the area.

Stayed here following the previous reviewers comments. Here is our review.
On 9th October my wife and I booked into the Desert Inn, Laverton for a nights accommodation. We were aware of the $130 per night tariff prior to arrival and accepted that this was the going rate. We also accepted that the room would fall far short of any major town hotel room. We were not disappointed. The room was well below any acceptable standard. The problems we found are as follows:
Fridge. Although empty had a revolting smell coming from it when the door was open. We reported this to a hotel staff member and whilst we said we were not using it as we had our own Engel fridge he did not even enquire which room we were in.
The bed side lights did not work and one was hanging off the wall.
Tiles were missing and some were cracked in the bathroom.
The shower hot water tap hanging out of the wall with no backing plate which potentially allows water to get into the wall cavity.
Disused soap was found in the soap holder in the shower.
There were no plates or cutlery even thought there was a toaster and tea/coffee making facilities.
The air conditioner was old and noisy requiring ear plugs to get to sleep. (It was a hot night requiring air conditioning following a 40 degree day).
We are Western Australians and are not naive enough to expect five star service in our remote towns and we do expect to pay a premium in theses towns but we do not expect the shoddiness we found at the Desert Inn.

The desert inn hotel in Laverton is really the only place to purchase meals. So I think they take advantage of that. The meals are average and expensive. They purport to have breakfast but you need to purchase from the cafe next to the hotel. The cafe is unreliable with what they offer

Stayed here for a over a few nights while working at a couple of mines up the road. We stayed in the dongas out the back, plenty comfortable for what we needed , cold beer on tap and great steaks with a jim beam sauce. Makes a pretty good place to stock up and make last minute preparations before heading into the desert. Word of advice though, parts are hard to come by, so best bet would be to run a land cruiser- they are the most common vehicles on mines in Australia and generally will get you out of trouble

Stayed here back in May after crossing the Great Central Highway which starts near Uluru. There is a lot of desert in-between and on reaching Laverton this is the first real town you come to - anywhere else along the way was really just Roadhouse stops (except for Aboriginal towns like Warburton where you need a permit to enter). So it sort of feels like you have reached the 'big smoke' in terms of the desert. There is a pub (this place), a Sports club, caravan park, post office and a petrol station.
The Desert Hotel is great - real Aussie pub in the outback. Had a great time here - good food, friendly people etc. The accommodation is pretty basic but paradise compared to staying in a small tent as I had for many nights previous.
I hope I make it back one day.

The Desert Inn will never feature in "best hotels" reviews or similar...it simply is not that kind of place. But if you need a clean bed, a cold beer, and a decent feed, the Desert Inn will see you right!

The meals size in this hotel is best described as "large". I would advise against having an entree plus a main unless you are a very big eater.
The meals we had were cooked well and the salads were very complete.
Of particular note was the chicken hollandaise which included a half avocado.
Friendly staff made this a really nice venue.

Visited here for dinner and were blown away with what we got. Pub was popular and there were a few there enjoying a evening drink. Due to having our dog with us, we sat in the beer garden for a couple of drinks and a meal. The service from all staff was simply great. They were all very friendly and happy to chat and help with whatever we needed. I ordered the chicken parmagianna whilst my wife had a scotch fillet steak. Both meals were simply massive and very reasonably priced. We were told that we could have a doggy bag for left overs if we liked, but as our doggy was with us, no need for a bag. The food was very well cooked, perfectly cooked large piece of chicken breast that was still nice and juicy, and very tasty. We can see why this place is recommended for meals. For the price we paid, I would have been happy with half the meal, but don't tell the chef because I loved it. Ate most of it and what we could eat, our dog loved.
