The Nenke family warmly welcome you to their newly constructed eco village on their family farm near the town of Kukerin, in the Dumbleyung Shire. You can stay in a one bedroom unit; one bedroom apartment or a two bedroom cottage. The apartments can sleep up to four adults and the cottages up to six (including the two day beds in the living area). Every room has un-interupted farm views from where you can enjoy glorious sunsets and study the stars at their best, without light pollution. All bedrooms are fitted out with either king size beds or king singles and every room has its own beautifully appointed bathroom. This is a century old working farm, growing wheat, barley, lupins, peas and yabbies. Today it is home of third, fourth and fifth generation family members. Being mindful of the importance of looking after the environment for future generations Mary's Farm Cottages have been designed as an eco friendly village. You will note solar panels that provide energy, the collection of all rainwater and the use of the grey water to subterraneously water the lawn! While you are staying visit their yabby farm, Cambinata Yabbies, five minutes down the road. Here cottage guests can tour the yabby establishment and 'shearing shed' function centre decorated with historic items. They can also purchase a selection of delicious gourmet products including farm fresh honey, pickled yabbies & abalone, dukkahs and olive oil as well as have a meal. Mary's Farm Cottages are a great place to stay when visiting the iconic Dumbleyung Lake, where Sir Donald Campbell broke the world water speed record in 1963 as well as do a day trip to famous Wave Rock. Guests are choosing the cottages as the perfect place to stop off on the way to Esperance or Albany

Detailed Reviews
I thoroughly enjoyed my stay here on two occasions to Mary's Farm Cottages. The location is perfectly placed at the halfway mark between Esperance and Perth, conveniently just off the main highway.
The location is wonderful - from your cottages you will have a view of expansive fields of crops and is a perfect place to simply unwind with a glass of local wine, whilst watching the Western Australian sun set.
Mary was so accommodating of my requests, and communicated with me throughout my stay to ensure I was comfortable.
The property itself is lovely to walk around as there is a short walk trail where I was able to take some fabulous pictures of the sunset over the fields. There are also some resident animals that you can feed.
The rooms were quite clean and the beds comfortable. The only thing I would suggest is that you bring fly/mozzie repellant, as they are out in full force! It is so peaceful at night, the pure silence broken occasionally by the distant hum of a passing road train.
There is quite strong 3G mobile reception here too with Telstra - for anyone who cannot live without their phones.
I simply won't stay anywhere else now when making the long drive between Esperance and Perth.

My wife and I stayed here overnight on a trip from Esperance back to Perth having seen it mentioned in the Tourism WA Australia website. It is a truly exceptional place.
The cottage was extremely comfortable and immaculately clean with everything you need. The super king size bed was super comfy with luxury linens and the aircon above the bed made for a very restful sleep.
We requested the Yabby dinner and Mary and her husband delivered it personally to the cottage. It was delicious.
And to cap it call, we saw a most magnificent sunset sitting on the patio followed by a magical starry sky. A truly special place that we will remember for a long time.

So delighted that you and your wife found us through Tourism WA, enjoyed the comfort of the cottages and the vista from your front verandah. Increasing numbers of guests are choosing to stop over at our cottages on the way to or from Esperance finding them the perfect break to what can be a very long drive. We very much enjoyed meeting you both and sharing our part of the world. We are also very happy that you will savour your memories of 'our truly special place', the magnificent sunset and the starry sky. Thank you for sharing your experience Best wishes Mary

Beautifully sited well equipped cottages with views over ripe wheat fields. Quite spectacular. Great service from the owners with lots of local information.
The yabbie feast offered as an extra is simply the best. Locally made dukka, olive oil, and freshly made salad and bread delivered with local yabbies to the cottage was simple but superb. It showed how delicious yabbies can be.

A group of us really enjoyed the setting, accommodation and Mary's friendliness when showing us the Yabbie farm to cap off our weekend. The meal at her establishment was tops. You can also buy some wonderful honey from the yabbie farm to sweeten the weekend. I wish I could show you the photographs of the delicious meal that was presented to us!!

Mary’s farm cottages were highly recommended by friends as an ideal stopover between Perth and Esperance and they did not disappoint.
Mary and Michael delivered a dinner of yabbies, salad, home made bread and dukkah to our door, as well as continental breakfast for the next morning.
The landscape is beautiful and the rooms perfectly appointed.
Mary took us on a tour of the farm the next morning. She is warm, inspiring and friendly. We were made to feel so very welcome.

We came across Mary’s Farm Cottages as a last minute decision travelling from Esperance to Mandurah but we are so glad we did. We arrived after dark but Mary came to our cottage to welcome us. On arrival we asked where we could grab a bottle of wine and her husband Michael arrived shortly after with one for us. We sat around the fire and toasted marshmallows, it was perfect. The stars are just wow! We slept amazing, it’s so peaceful and quiet and the cottages have everything you need to make it feel like home. They aren’t your typical modern accomodation but it adds to its charm and we loved it. The next morning the kids played on the park and they fed the animals in the small field at the front of the properties. The kids didn’t want to leave and we promised one day we would go back. Definitely a hidden gem.

My husband and I spent two nights in Mary's Farm Cottage. The cottages are well equipped. It is very idyllic but also isolated. Outback, after all. Mary and Michael are very attentive to their guests and brought the yabby meal we ordered in the evening. The next day we were able to visit the farm and they took plenty of time to explain everything to us.

Stayed here late last year on our trip to the great south. I unfortunately had an online class that I needed reception and Mary was really helpful. We had a Telstra sim and Mary was on standby in case I could not get connected.
The thing I loved most was the bed and the bedding. Everything was so soft and comfy. I had the best sleep ever and didn’t want to leave. Lovely views and would really like to return. Thank you Mary.

Cottages in the "middle of nowhere", actually well furnished, but without love. No personal greeting, other guests, especially road workers, who leave the thin-walled cottage (wall to wall) at 6 a.m. and then blast the sound of the TV in the area at 5 a.m. when they finish work. The entire complex with 5 cottages gives the impression that it has seen better days. No appealing atmosphere! There are no restaurants nearby at the weekend (within a 40 km radius). Supermarket in Lake Grace closes at 11:30 a.m., bakery completely closed. Pretty stupid if you're self-catering.

Mary And Michael are formidable, hard worker, friendly makes you feel part of the family.
Take a cuppa and ask their amazing life story...
You will appreciate about the hardship that takes to be a Western Australian farmer.
The place is spotless!!!
We look forward to come back soon. Rgds, Fabricio and Daniella.

Thank you Fabricio and Daniella. It was delightful welcoming you to our farm and Mary's Farm Cottages. We look forward to your return with your beautiful family. Michael and I have been extremely blessed to live where we live and continue to have an extraordinary life which we would never have had if we had not married and embraced farming, yabbies and agri tourism.
