Fitzroy crossing has had a bad wrap over the years and we were unsure if we wanted to stay, a fellow travels said it was safe so we booked in for one night. It was great the sites were big we are travelling together in two vehicles so we like to be next to each other and that was not a problem. The grounds were clean and they are doing lots of work around the place to get it back up to a higher standard. The pool has reopened and the facilities were clean with lots of hot water with great pressure. We are at the restaurant and was not disappointed. We liked it so much we stayed an extra night. I spent the day under a tree painting so a win win for me.

We had read and heard a number of rather negative things about travelling through Fitzroy Crossing. However, last night we camped at the Fitzroy River Lodge , in the large, spacious caravan park. The staff were very friendly, and efficient. Yes, it is an older park, but facilities were clean and working. We felt safe here, and so were lots of other travellers. It is just out of town, so quiet. Recommend staying here

My husband and I ( and a group of other travellers) had the misfortune to stay in a Safari Tent at Fitzroy River Lodge last week. This came at the end of an otherwise wonderful tour of the Kimberley, during which we stayed in several other tented accommodations. We are not squeamish people, and were happy to leave the spider webs/nests in place. However, this is the first time we’ve ever had to spend 30 mins cleaning a room before we could use it. The room was not only filthy, it had an infestation of hairy grubs; they were on the floors, walls and ceilings, on the beds and pillows. They were in the bed and one crawled on my husband during the night. We could not leave clothing out or our bags open for fear that they would take up residence within! We appreciate that many business in the region are short-staffed, but the absence of any basic maintenance of the Safari Tents is disgraceful. Some people in our group had tents with broken shower heads, mouldy shower curtains, broken/unstable floorboards on the verandahs and , in one case a hole in the tent through which grass was growing. When I spoke with the Manager, she apologised nicely and indicated that cans of insect spray would be left in our rooms while we were at dinner. This did not happen. Unfortunately, this place appears not to have any competition, and their willingness to put people up in sub-standard accommodation while charging exorbitantly, is nothing short of appalling.

Stayed 2 nights on our way to Kununurra from Broome. So far this is the best food we have had on our Kimberley’s road trip. Service was great at check in and from restaurant staff the whole time. Food was amazing and quick service too! All staff were very friendly and obliging- Thankyou. We were worried about staying in FC due to reports we had read but there was nothing to worry about. A pleasant surprise- keep up the great work!

Having stayed at Fitzroy River Lodge several times since 1989 I was interested in seeing how they have managed to keep the quality of previous visits. How disappointing !!! Yes COVID has played a part but the camping facilities are the most expensive in the Kimberley and yet very basic. The ablutions are dated and dirty - the tiles in the shower are the same as my first home in the early 80's. The company apologised that the men's ablutions was under renovation so the Female block was Unisex ??? So why charge top $$$??? The previous lush grassed areas for camping was now almost unrecognisable with long grass. The pool area - a request to shower before use - the shower cubicle has cracks and the shower head damaged. The toilet was almost unusable. The gardens around the pool were full of weeds and unkempt . It is obvious this place depends on tour buses and accommodation for contract workers for the majority of its business but as a previous "camping oasis" in the middle of the region it is sadly lacking. Some small parks and family owned businesses are much cheaper and leave this place far behind in terms of quality. A real disappointment .

This camping spot was perfect! Despite the worrying reviews from the past, we had the best stay here. The pool was clean, amenities all working and nice shady powered camping spots. Definitely will come back here or recommend this for anyone staying in this area for an overnighter!

The room was okay. I’ve stayed in much better and a lot worse. However value for money is not a thing here. Wildly overpriced. And with all the stairs here, I hope no one else injures themselves on this premises as you won’t get any correspondence or replies.

This is a great little find! We booked at last minute and the accommodation was modest but clean and comfortable but the highlight was the restaurant out on the deck. It was really great and this is worth the overnight stay. Good cocktails too if you are in the market for a few.

Check in is definitely at 2:00PM! Apart from the strict adherence to rules, the staff here are friendly and helpful. Accommodation here is available in various styles, from tents, RV/Caravan sites, motel style units or other forms. This teip we stayed in a motel stule room. It had tea/coffee making facilities, a bar fridge, was air-conditioned (cooling only) and basic toiletries were provided. Our room was clean, well lit and contemporary. Parking was underneath. Meals were available in the restaurant or lounge bar, but food and beverages were not cheap. Be very security conscious while here. American Express cards are not accepted

We arrived at 12.30 on 07/08/2021 & paid for a drive throught powered caravan site before exploring the area. We were allocated site 71 & on checking found the site occupied. Returned to the office & were told site 67 would be held for us. On our return site 67 was occupied, rang office & were told to find an unoccupied site. Poor service & management. The facade of the property looks good, but the toilet & shower facilties are tired & dirty. Need someone who cares to clean them thoroughly & spruce them up. They charge top dollar, but it's not reflected in the facilties provided. We stayed here in 2008 when the property was new, but behind a good facade it has deteriorated badly. Better of staying at one of the roadside stops between Fitzroy Crossing & Halls Creek to have a bush camp.
