Detailed Reviews
The FR Lodge is a place to stay on the way to elsewhere and it answers that need more than adequately.
The good: Our king bed room was clean, spacious, reasonably quiet and adequately comfortable. Everything expected was there and it mostly worked as expected. The bed was comfortable, the linens clean and we were each able to find a satisfactory pillow. The meals from the pub dining room were wholesome and tasty and the staff we encountered were helpful and willing.
The not so good: the room décor is a bit spartan and you would be best advised to seek a room far away from the pub and constant thrum from the diesel generators. Our guest room sustained some eerie noises from the plumbing when in use – which thankfully did not persist overnight.

Hi Tedstravelblogs Thank you for taking the time to review our property. We will pass on all feedback to the departments however in regards to the 'thrum of the generators', I'm not sure what you meant as we do not have generators on site. We hope you enjoy the rest of your travels in the Kimberley

Given how famous this place has become over the years, especially given the issues with the next door bridge, we eagerly made haste to get here (as you cannot book camping/caravan sites).
Our first annoyance was at the terribly small road signage outside to direct people into the temporary entry point.
(Do they not know Google adds an hour detour to enter from the wrong side?) the bridge has been out since Jan - more would be better.
The same inside, no signage to direct you to reception, as it’s all facing the wrong way. Enjoy the many trailer caravans trying to reverse down the hill!
I know a lot of it was under water, but the quality of the site is poor with cow poo everywhere and horrid facilities in the loos and showers.
We literally didn’t use them at all for fear of catching something.
Considering its location and status, I expected more!
Finally, the diggers and construction work continues 24/7 regardless of who’s sleeping nearby. Enjoy!

Hi Rob27898 Thank you for your feedback. Yes, we are in the middle of a considerable construction zone at the moment and will be as excited as the next person when it all finishes. Unfortunately we cannot do much about the google detours (though an hour seems more than normal) As for the cow poo, we have local free range bulls that don't think of others very often - our apologies. In regards to the caravan park, this is an ongoing project and has recently been closed in order to have a much needed revamp. We hope you enjoy the rest of you travels.

We booked a motel room and we were a little worried because we couldn’t find any online reviews about this type of accommodation. We were pleasantly surprised – our air conditioned room was spacious, well designed and clean. There was a flat screen TV, small but functional bathroom with nice toiletries and a comfortable bed. There’s a nice pool area in the middle of the complex and it’s possible to walk along a covered walkway to the reception/bar/restaurant area. The WiFi was surprisingly good too! The Lodge is outside the dodgy looking town area which is probably a good thing! It’s still very expensive and not good value for money, but at least you can see that some care and attention has gone into the rooms.
We ate at the restaurant and the meals were surprisingly good. Although they were a little expensive, they were tasty and the portions were generous.
Overall our stay at the Lodge was a pleasant experience and we were very impressed with the staff who were super friendly and helpful!
Note that there is a 1.2% surcharge for credit card payments so you might want to bring cash!

Run down, dirty, EXPENSIVE, and very little cusomer care.
Considering the water available in Fitzroy, there is no need to have caravaners living in a dust bowl. I'm not sure if hotel gusts are treated any better, but caravan/camping guest are not treated very well.
Everyone has their grey water just running onto the ground, taps and power points at the sites not always working.
This could be and should be an oasis between towns, but it's not. You just feel like you're being capitalised on because there are no other options in town, or for miles either way.
Very disappointing stay, way too expensive, felt completely ripped off.

Two People stayed in powered site, no map given for directions partner was told to try site electricity if no good to keep trying.
Toilets and showers filthy, Men's urinal backed up and overflowing over the floor.
Contacted reception to advise was told the ladies amenities would then be changed to unisex, a cleaner would be sent down to clean and erect a sign I requested.
No out of order sign and no unisex sign , cleaner didn't do anything to the men's amenities.
Honestly they could not have cared less and for $57 a site I do expect a clean toilet and shower.

Hi Elecia05 Thank you for your feedback. I feel that most is unwarranted and so I have contacted all departments involved, including the Duty Manager, to discuss this. Below you will see their feedback.... Toilets and showers filthy, Men's urinal backed up and overflowing over the floor. ** Not True, water in the urinal, not overflowing. Urinal unblocked. Out of order sign put in place. Contacted reception to advise was told the ladies amenities would then be changed to unisex, a cleaner would be sent down to clean and erect a sign I requested. ** Female was not made unisex, only male urinal out of order sign. I have pictures in my phone. No out of order sign and no unisex sign , cleaner didn't do anything to the men's amenities. ** HSK went down there at 2 pm and cleaned. Personally checked. I came back to the toilet the day after, to find it in the same condition, in one night bugs are back, and people walking in it with muddy shoes due to weather makes it dirty. Should you wish to discus this further, please feel free to contact a Manager. We wish you a safe, insect free journey in the outback.

A total disaster. The baob single units set me back $312 for one person for one night in a noisy pre-fabricated steel and aluminum structure. Walls are paper thin and I could hear the next door person's phone ring as if in the same room. Unfortunately, The next place to sleep is a good 3 hours west so this "Lodge" is all there is and the owners know exhausted drivers will pay whatever they ask. The photos on the Fitzroy River Lodge look nothing like what you are getting into. Wifi signal was not possible in my room. $200 deposit is charged to the card as well. These people are criminals for portraying this place like some kind of a "Lodge Experience".

Hi nealk619 Thank you for your review. The rate you have quoted is not related to the room type you are talking about. We will also look into the WIFI issue as all rooms should have access to free WIFI. In regards to the pictures, our website photos are all current and are a true depiction of our property. If you would like to forward an email to our reservations team, we could investigate all these issues for you.

I am staying at the accommodation and went to the reception to get a can of Coke Zero and a vanilla cornetto ice cream the guy said that it was $6.50 for the coke and $8 something for the ice cream. I refused to pay that much and walked out. This has to be illegal I will be looking online tomorrow to put a formal complaint in with the consumer protection

First $52.00 for unpowered campsite for a tent 3 x 3 mts. Then the men’s showers/toilets, urinal wasn’t working, tried 3 showers cubicles. 1st door wouldn’t lock. 2nd no hooks to hang clothes. 3rd shower head sprayed water horizontally not down. Wash basins look like 3rd world refugee camp. Plus no hot water. Dinner in the restaurant, my chicken parmigiana was dry and hard and burnt around the edges with chips on the small serving side. My partners curry was something left to be desired. Drinks weren’t cold either. In the morning someone starts up a pump on a truck 20 mts away to clean out dump point for an hour. You couldn’t get to the showers as the sprinklers were wetting the stairs and the front of the building.

This lodge is extremely disappointing and is 100% capitalising on the remoteness and lack of alternate accomodation. Totally recognising that costs are higher in the outback due to remoteness, this lodge takes it to the next level of rip offs. At $340 for one night in a double room, we expected something decent for the $ paid. Its standard is comparable with a very low budget motel room and the customer service is a sham.
The appalling customer service from the duty manager, was deceitful. Our room had a huge section of the window fly screen missing, a gapping hole that was long and wide, consequently there was no option of an open window due to insects and we preferred not to have the old and dirty A/C running. We immediately after checkin around 3pm, asked reception if there was another room, and were told that they were fully booked but they would send the maintenance man to repair the hole. This was very circumspect due to the size of the hole, as the screen would need entire new mesh and why was it not reported by housekeeping before?. We waited over an hour, no maintenance man, so we called reception again and was told he was busy but would attend. It was now after 5pm and we really felt as though they were just trying to pacify us. After 6pm we went to reception, to ask again and were told that the maintenance man was busy with the coaches that had arrived. We had seen them arrive and unpack, and the coaches pull out. Therefore we explained this and again was told that he would come.
No one arrived to fix the screen, not surprisingly and upon check out we followed up and was advised the maintenance man attended our room but we were not there!!!! There is no where to go, other than the lodge and we would have been having dinner after waiting around for hours. No note left, no advise to us. Although this seems a sad little complaint, we feel as though we had been deliberately lied to. Coupled with the endless dripping shower, the not very clean bathroom and sad state of the very small room at $340. It was a total rip off, with it's over-inflated room and restaurant prices. Try to avoid staying at this lodge if possible

Our Trip was booked months in advance. The payment was taken out 1 day prior to staying.
In arrival there appeared to be some confusion. We booked for 2 adults and 2 children. The comments on the booking were 1 double and 2 singles if possible just so our kids didn’t have to sleep in the same bed.
We were told that there were only 3 beds in the room and asked if that would be suitable!
This wasn’t suitable so we were asked to pay $50 extra for a rollaway bed to be added to the room. When we objected and showed our booking and comments she offered to speak to the Manager whom hid out the back and let his team sort it out, GREAT LEADERSHIP! The conclusion was that they knew were had no other option but to pay the extra $50 with no where else to go and no refunds were on offer.
It was explained to us that it is a booking system making the booking, not a human so no point of a comments section.

I believe that as the amenities are being renovated and there is plenty of space they would be approachable.
It also features in another app that dogs are allowed.
Hi Toni yes I’m pretty sure you can. Sorry for the delay in responding as we are still traveling and sometimes we have no internet. Guess you are there now so you’d know.

We had no trouble at all. We stayed only one night but so no evidence of any matters needing the police.
