Stayed at Lucky Bay but travelled out to Orleans Bay for the day. Chris was kind enough to allow us to use the caravan park amenities for a small fee to cook our lunch. The caravan park was extremely close to a very calm beach for families with activities such as tennis/basketball court & mini golf, and the grounds were quiet & well kept with grass. We also enjoyed some of the most delicious soft serve ice-cream 🍦 from the well stocked shop for our dessert as we were departing. Chris was very helpful with his knowledge of the area.

Great location, great unit with lots of beds and lounge. All very clean and functional, a little dated but that doesn’t bother me. Easy to access beaches and owner gave great advice on map where to drive, where to see sunset and what not to miss.
Only pain was no linen provided. Only bottom sheet on beds. Had to bring sleeping bags and towels and I didn’t hear need to bring your own pillows so had to make pillows out of clothes lol. Flying from perth it would have been great to hire linen and towels but realistically in this remote location it’s probs not practical. So don’t forget your pillow.
Shop had lots of stores for snacks etc but weren’t serving from kitchen. Had to go 20km up road and had dinner at great pub there. Great weekend adventure!

We had three nights at Orleans Bay Caravan Park last week and really enjoyed it. Hosts were very friendly and helpful. It's on Duke of Orleans Bay that you can walk down to, we had a swim but was very weedy from a storm that had recently come in, but still a good place to walk. Just 3km away is the stunning Wharton Beach that we swam at every day, it is beautiful!! But 4 wheel drives can drive on it, something I don't like, but maybe that's because I don't have one! Owners let us change sites, when we weren't so happy with first one offered, and we had a grassy spot, under trees. A family friendly place, quiet and peaceful while we were there. Pet friendly which was great for us. Great hot showers, 2 or 3 shower blocks around, older but very clean and well maintained. One near us only had 2 showers and toilets for women but I never had to wait and it was pretty busy, light, and airy, easy walk from our spot. Shop is well stocked and can get petrol there. We smashed the back window of our van (husband did backing into tree!!) and owners gave us name of man to ring in Esperance, 1 hour away at 2.30pm on one day, and next day we had a new window, arrived overnight from Perth and was fitted by lunchtime! wouldn't even get it that quickly here in Perth. It was out of range for us with Optus, so think Telstra is for us now we have taken to the van life! We will be back! thanks!

We booked a park home at the Duke of Orleans Caravan Park on their new website. Communication was easy and it was ready for us when we arrived.

This part of the coast is really special - Wharton Beach is sublime - and Chris provides a map to help you explore.

There’s no signal or WiFi, and it’s basic accommodation, but that’s what we expected and we had all we needed - a TV, a fridge and a (slightly dodgy) gas hob, so all good.

The park is a good set up, and it’s spotlessly clean. Plenty of hot showers and a well stocked shop.

Apart from a slightly dodgy gas hob, the only real criticism was I couldn’t find any recycling bins anywhere. Something of a surprise in a place where you’re very aware of the environment.

Good caravan park. Has fuel and gas. But the best part is that it’s near Wharton Beach. Great cold water surf and great fishing. Wonderful cooking up freshly caught fish and having a glass of a WA white wine with it

We stayed in the unpowered section as family. The nightly cost was $76. For this there was no camp kitchen (there is one in the powered area), no sinks for washing up and the shower/ toilets were located over a hill nd out of sight down the access road (not ideal with children). The surrounding area is beautiful however the park itself was disappointing and certainly wasn't worth the cost. Staff however were helpful.

What a spectacular coastline. A definite stop over.
Caravan park staff were very friendly. We parked in the unpowered sites ($44 in holidays - expensive but great spot) under the trees. Very quiet and lots of birds. Seaside caravan park with a few permanents. Very tidy and well maintained.

Wharton Beach is a MUST. WOW WOW. Turquoise water, clear white sand, wide beaches. A fantastic swimming area for everyone. Safe and shallow. You can climb up over the large rocks to the top and get a mindblowing 360 deg view.

Drive around to Little Wharton Beach and you will not regret that either. A hidden gem for swimming and fishing or just relaxing.

Fantastic stay. Chris was very helpful with local spots to visit, fish and explore. Great large powered sites and lots of areas for the kids to explore. 72 days on the road and this was just perfect to wind down and relax. Recommend you have a couple of nights to explore al there is to see in your 4x4.

From the moment Orleans Bay Road is ending the sights fill the windscreen and fills one with wonder.
Only an hour on from Esperance the Orleans Bay is worth the trip.
And with soooo much to explore, or for a quiet (romantic) 4 day stay, The Duke is just the place.
Be it camp, caravan or cabin, there is lots of space and plenty to offer.
All the usual facilities are available; clean and functional, with luxury rainfall HOT showers. There’s even a Mothers Room especially for safe comfortable child care.
Plus lots more available from the store.
An great range of foodstuffs, general goods, icecream and treats.
Plus fuel, air pump +++
And all topped off with fabulous customer service.
Spend the time and I’m sure you’ll be back or take away memories to last a lifetime.
Plus fishing vests for safe rock fishing,

Can dogs stay in the chalets?
Answer from Chris C
Perth, Australia497 contributions125 helpful votes
Sorry can not answer that question you would have to directly contact the park. Would be surprised if they could stay in chalets, have a feeling health laws would not allow this to happen. Generally the best you can do is to be allowed to have a dog on site. Otherwise a lovely well shaped park.

I went in Peak season. Im sorry it was back in March, but I think it was around $60 pn. Great park, but a little pricey. Cant remember friends being charged extra for the dogs. Sorry if its not much help. Beautiful serene site tho

It's dirt in the park but it's ok to drive the motor home in but the main roads are seals but there's a part of the sealed road which is quite skinny but your be fine.We towed our new caravan there.

Yes dogs are allowed in off season, believe prior arrangements are needed during peak summer months. We had our two large mastiffs.
