The accommodation was clean, the bedding was comfortable, the kitchen more than adequate, dining area and lounge adequate.
There was a nice BBQ area and the smallish pool was clean and OK.
A little maintenance would not go amiss eg lights blown or missing from lounge, side light in lounge, bathroom and BBQ area. Also paddle bin in kitchen not working.
However , and there’s always a however.
Although the bedding was clean and the beds were comfortable the side tables, 1 each side in main bedroom, 1 on one side in second bedroom and none in 3rd bedroom were an apology.
Each bedroom had a built in cupboard. Between the 3 bedrooms were 7 hanger for clothes.
Each built in cupboard has a top shelf where extra pillows/ blankets were stored so there was nowhere for storage of smalls. Had to leave these in suitcase and live out of cases.
The 3rd bedroom had 2 beds, one up against connecting door to someone’s else’s accommodation and the other bed against a window. Reminded me of the black hole of Calcutta!
However, on the bright side you’ll never be lonely there…
In the primary and secondary bedroom you can start the day listening to morning ablution from the flat above until evening time when, say no more. If in Calcutta bedroom just listen in to the connecting bedroom for their conversation.
All for $418 per night.

Staying at a 1 bed appartment right now, nicely surprised when we opened door to a very clean, well stocked and nicely decorated appartment.
It's an older building and a lot of effort has been put in to make it nice and comfortable.
Nice bedlinen, white fluffy tiles and comfy couch.
I would recommend it to anyone holidaying in Esperence, a small pool also on premises which we did use on the recent 45c day.
Overall a good stay, we are very happy.

Very disappointing. Booked the accommodation in February for an October stay so envisaged with such a long lead in time, the apartment would be ready when we arrived. Emailed owner when I booked to ask about ocean views. Owner confirmed on two occasions through two emails that had ocean glimpses (prior to payment and after booking) and that we were on the first floor. However, when we arrived we got a ground floor apartment without any ocean glimpses and wasn't very nice. The apartment was nothing like what is advertised. The apartment I booked looked like it had been recently renovated. However, the apartment we were given had no blind on the laundry window (which is quite large) and overlooks a communal common barbeque area as well as being between the bathroom and bedroom, so no security or privacy. Also all other apartments along the ground floor had blinds to cover this window (we could see from outside). After we complained about this, we were given a sheet to put over the laundry window. See attached photo. We were told it was the apartment we booked, but we don't agree.

Also, the vanity in the bathroom had the door falling off so could not be closed properly and was held together with tape. See attached photo.

The hot water was extremely inconsistent and on 3 occasions, I had to have a cold shower, not pleasant when it is cold and miserable outside. It looked like all other ground floor apartments had the new water heater tanks except our apartment which still had the older style water heater that didn't work properly.

We were under the impression that the car bay outside the apartment was for our apartment as all apartments seemed to have these, however, the guests in the apartment next to us had 2 cars and advised us that they had been told they could park in our bay, which made it difficult when we got back at the end of the day and couldn't park there. As there were guests in the other apartments we couldn't park in their bays (not that we should have to)

Response from Naomi White, General Manager at Archipelago Apartments Esperance
Responded 18 Oct 2021
Teresa, as pointed out to you via message, you booked the spa apartment but as your credit card declined the booking was automatically cancelled, when you rebooked you booked the very apartment you stayed in. If you would like me to send through the booking details I'm more than happy to so that you can see what you actually booked. The apartment photos are exactly of the room as they were taken by myself. The vanity door isn't held together with tape, it's a waterproof tape so that the vanity doesn't get water damage. The hot water is gas and as stated when the plumber came he and I both tested it over 3 times and the water didn't change under 1 degree in over 10 minutes of running it. As for the car bay, you went and spoke to the lovely guests next door and you were rather rude to them so they didn't feel really like moving their car after the conversation, no different to how you had treated the staff all week. Unfortunately it wouldn't have mattered what we did in the end there was not pleasing you or making you happy. Hopefully you enjoyed Esperance on your 8 day stay.

Hello

The location of your property was very good so close to The Esperance and the shops.

But we found the property somewhat dated and in need of some TLC. The bedroom and lounge were acceptable but the kitchen and bathroom was horrible.

The entire kitchen and bathroom need a deep clean we found the following,
Frying pans were disgusting we could not use them, we had to wash the utensils, we had odd cutlery, you left us a dirty scourer and used dishcloth, we did not even have china plates and bowls they were picnic ones, the kitchen cupboards inside were not clean and had marks from pans etc, the entire kitchen was very dated with cupboards door not always shutting properly.

The bathroom was not clean at all with dirty cupboards, skirting boards had dirt all along them and the dirt round the toilet was disgusting, and the sink had a big gap behind it and the ceiling was flaky, the lights only had one bulb out of three, again very dated needs an update as well as the kitchen.

To add to that we had what we think was a long term stay next to us who drove a big and I mean big truck, he would arrive around 6.30 to 7 obviously after working nights and woke us up with the loud engine and then when he went out he left the engine running for ages.

So we found the apartment number 5 very grubby and then you quoted we would be fined if left any rubbish or dirt on towels, I am attaching some pictures I am sure you would not like to have to live with it.

Very misleading.
Basically a run down motel with a few patch ups.
Strong smell of smoke as soon as entering the room. Went to let them know. Response was that's all we have.
Let bookings.com know as my wife has bad asthma. Back and forth with management only to be told they had fixed the smell issue.
No coverings on back window leading to bathroom. Taps ,shower and toilets make all sorts of noises.
WiFi worked for an hour in the three nights we stayed.
At night the whole room buzzes and felt like there was a presence in the room and I don't usually believe in that stuff.
Offered if we left they would refund last night.
Unfortunately we could not find alternative accommodation.

Such a shame but the amenities provided are what you want when staying away from home but everything is dirty!!! Really dirty!! Mould in the bathroom should not be taken lightly! The place is filthy as per the photos. Would not recommend or stay again.

This is the 2nd time we have stayed there and the one bedroom apartment in itself is ok. The first time we stayed there wasn’t a bad experience and the 2nd time around was fine until check-out time. The reason I have given them 1 out of 5 is because the owner was trying to charge us extra money when it was time to check out. The room we got is advertised on booking.com at $150 per night with no extra cost for a child under 2 years of age. Well when it was time to pay, the owner tried to charge me $170 per night, including $10 for having our 1 year old with us. Of course I argued the price out of principle and the owner turned into the WORST rental property owner. He was acting all appalled because I was arguing the price stated online and made us feel like we were trying to take advantage of him. Oh I would give them a score of -5 if I could for ripping us off (he ended up still charging me for having our infant with us) and for ruining our day with such treatment. Make sure you confirm pricing before you book or your experience may be just as bad as ours. Alternatively, AVOID THEM altogether!!!!

Thank you for your review with regards to Archipelago Apartments. Firstly I would like to point out that when you booked your accommodation you didnt book online with Booking.com, we have different deals that we do with our online accommodation sites. Your wife rang me and told me that she was booking for 2 adults of which I gave her the price, she said that was fine. There was no mention of children or that you saw the price $10.00 different on a website. Legally we are required to know how many people are staying in our apartments due to evacuation procedures etc. If a fire went through our property we would be completly unaware of how many guests to evacuate. The apartment you booked was a one bedroom standard apartment with a queen size bed, total amount of people that it accommodates is 2.

Well we checked the reviews which were mixed, the photos seemed ok but the reality was harsh - especially after a long drive to get there.
Stains over the back and arms of the sofa, mould in the bathroom, dirt and damage to the bathroom vanity, rusted fittings around the shower base, no bathroom light, no lock on laundry screen door (as we found when we acquired another visitor !), mould in the kitchen, silverfish in the cutlery drawer, broken/chipped crockery, no baking trays for oven (i.e. no way to cook a pizza), corroded hotplates on oven, carpet in 1 bedroom smelt of urine, damaged timber blinds, no reading lamps beside beds, beds so hard the floor was starting to look comfortable, fittings (digital tv receiver) hanging from roof/wall & generally poor maintained unit overall.
There obviously is no maintenance on the place or if there is we couldn't see it - what money is coming in probably goes toward the upkeep of the BMW X5 that sat at the front of the premises most of the time - a constant reminder that we were not enjoying our stay for the price we (over)paid.

My family stayed at the archipelago apartments for 9 nights. We stayed in the 3 bedroom 2 bathroom apartment. We found the apartment to be very comfortable an homely for our stay away from home. It was nice and clean and all our enquiries were answered with a smile and very helpful. I did have only one complaint and that was that the rooms were very light when trying to go to sleep at night. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, thank you very much.
