Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I stayed here 4 nights on my E2E on the Bibbulmun Track. It’s a 30 minute stroll out of town but worth it, the gardens are beautiful, the chook house is like a palace. It’s a bit different from your usual stay being an old timber cottage, but the quirks are what make it wonderful. Geoff even had the fire going for me when I arrived- by far the best ‘hut’ I stayed in between Kalamunda & Dwellingup.

I have just spent 5 wonderful days at Banksia Springs surrounded by peace and tranquillity. As you drive down the driveway you see .... The chook house and wonder what other surprises are to come Geoff Bell has created a rustic rural retreat, still with all mod cons needed, warm wood fires for the cold Winter and aircon for Summer While relaxing and looking out through the windows you see many different species of birds and Kangaroos Venturing into the beautiful garden you discover there are numerous " garden rooms " to discover. This is a hidden gem in Dwellingup I encourage you to visit and " feel the serenity "

Jeff is an absolutely wonderful host and accommodated us at the last minute. The chalet was beautiful and cosy and the surroundings pristine and quiet. The children had a great time with the fabulous grounds and all the animals.

Spent 3 nights in the 'Kookaburra' cottage with my husband and our 2 year old son. It is such a lovely place with beautiful autumn colours in the well-tended, expansive gardens, and a paddock next door with sheep to entertain our toddler. The cottage is decorated with antiques and has a very cosy feel to it. Being in a Jarrah forest there's lots of unique wooden features inside, making it different from the run-of-the-mill chalets/cabins you can find elsewhere. Firewood supplied for the slow combustion fire - perfect for autumn/winter time. Fantastic shower in main bathroom. Our toddler loved scooting around on his toy motorbike on the veranda that wraps around the cottage. Only downside is the 1 internal toilet is in ensuite in back bedroom, so this property wouldn't suit 2 couples who wanted to holiday together. There's a 2nd toilet but it's outside - bit cold during winter nights!

Our bush walking group used this rustic lodge as a base to explore the Nanga area in comfort. There were over a dozen of us and it suited us perfectly. The kitchen was well set up for a large group of people, sometimes cooking together and sometimes sharing a meal. The communal dining table made it fun and there was plenty of room for us to sit around the fire, which was lit ready for us on arrival. Apparently a lot of quilting groups and book clubs use it. The grounds were pretty with wild flowers and wisteria blossoms, and the splendid blue wrens and robins were a delight. We walked through the bush to the local cidery/ winery for a drink and we felt miles from anywhere even though we were relatively close to town. We all went to a very reasonable dinner at the Blue Wren Cafe one night, see separate review. I spent the whole time thinking of extended family and other groups in my life that I could take for a break at Banksia Springs Lodge.
