Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Was invited to ski Mt Buller with family staying at this ski club. Great location with buses leaving every 10 mins from just up the road. Accommodation was clean, warm and very comfortable. Shared shower and toilets were very clean. Best part was the meals included, Di the chef is amazing, breakfast was very enjoyable, but the included 3 course dinner was just way above what we had expected ! Loved staying here and felt very welcome

My best friend and I came here for a milestone birthday of mine, - too old to admit to!! The snow was average, the village was a bit bleak but the food and service of the inn was absolutely spectacular! There are no words to describe the quality of food Di produces. I’ve been lucky enough to enjoy some amazing restaurants in incredible cities in my time and I can honestly say the food at Merrijig Inn equals that of fine dining in restaurants in Paris, London, Sydney and Amalfi Coast amongst others. Sadly it’s taken me ages to write this post, I’m currently in an exclusive resort in northern Tasmania wishing Di was here to cook our dinner - hence the need to write this post. Please consider this inn if you like kind service brought by the sweet and lovely Corteney and honestly, outstanding food courtesy of the very talented Di. I can’t recommend this place enough!

Great location, close to bus stop, can't wait for dinner as it's included in accommodation price. Choice tonight turnip soup or salmon for entree, mains are a choice of the rack of lamb or duck confit and apple and rhurbarb pie for desert.

6 day trip to mt Buller with my wife, 8 and 11 yr old. Had been told to set my expectations low for skiing if skied in Europe before. I was pleasantly surprised. The first few days were white-outs with rain but we still enjoyed. Only 6 lifts open. Bourke street final ski area dangerous to ski through as a bottleneck to lifts, crowded with skiers and boarders of all levels and speeds. Need to keep your eyes open. Merrijig hotel very good value. Peaceful. Rooms small and basic, beds comfy. No locks on bedroom doors - odd. Shared 3 bathrooms with 4 other rooms. These had locks! Fine for us as we knew before. Free wifi too. Breakfast and supper served as part of deal. Excellent quality and value. Served a la canteen style at fixed times for short periods, so you have to be there or will miss. (7.30am-8 & 6.30pm). You put away your own dishes and clean your table area when finishing which was quaint and reminded me (in a pleasant way) of boarding school. There is a games room with pool table and table tennis which kids liked. Large open lounge area with fire, excellent views. BYO alcohol too. It's about an 800m walk downhill to lifts. There is a ski bus that comes every 10-15 mins which is free. Overall a very nice place to stay especially when u compare to costs of other places. Ps Only a third full in our week. Not sure what would be like if full.

Out of expectation, free dinner. Delicious and quality of good restaurant. Bed are clean, warm and comfortable. Personally, i like the "lobby" which in fact is a very convenience to dress up/down + store ski equipment. I luckily met Jenny's family, which is one of the member of this club. Their vitality really enrich the "home" feeling. I never feel similar elsewhere throughout my travel experience. Of course, such cannot be achieved without a cozy living room (common room).

Very friendly relaxed lodge. Welcomed, like family by Jenny and fed superb 5 star meals by Di- cooked breakfast, schnapps and nibbles before dinner then a wonderful 3 course meal each night! Great last minute specials advertised on Thursdays. Single separate showers and toilets opposite bedrooms. Nice lounge and great drying room and area to get geared up in. Bedrooms and bathrooms dated but very functional. Not having a lock on bedroom seems unusual. Games room with pool table and table tennis table. Board games/ DVDs lacking but we didn't miss them. Thanks Merrijig!

What an awesome place this is. I could not recommend this place highly enough! From the moment we walked in until the moment we left, everything about Merrijig exceeded our expectations by a long way. The place itself is beautiful - lovely big common room with open fire place and relaxing lounges, separate games room and another separate TV room. Plenty of space for everyone to relax and enjoy their post ski evening. The food is divine - we honestly thought we were at an exclusive restaurant: Massimo and Alanah did a wonderful job of serving the most beautiful food. The people (mostly Merrijig members when we were there) could not have been more welcoming to my son son and I. So overall: position brilliant, lodge fantastic, food divine, members welcoming, rooms extremely quiet. Couldn't be happier, can't wait to go back to Merrijig!
