My partner and I stayed for 2 nights in September 2021 with our dog. It was hard to find pet friendly accommodation around Bright so we were very appreciative that they accepted furry family members. We received a phone call letting us know the key would be in the box outside for check in, so didn't have the same issues other reviewers have had. The rooms were simple and dated, but we weren't bothered by that at all - it's an old Motor Inn and for what it was, the price was pretty on par with similar accommodation we had stayed in throughout other parts of Victoria. We did notice it got cold, but our electric blanket and heater eventually did the trick. We had gone prepared, knowing it's a cold region, so had plenty of warm clothes as well. The room seemed pretty clean, and though we knew there'd be no kitchen facilities due to the room type, we were surprised there was no kettle and option for tea and coffee, or cutlery so we could eat the food we grabbed from take away spot in town. This was the main point of difference compared to other Motor Inn's we've stayed, along with no breakfast option - however, we stayed just after lockdown (one of the many) ended and we were aware that a lot of businesses had changed how they provided services. The rooms are based around a lawn area, which is also where the pool is. With the room's sliding doors heading out on to this area, some may feel you don't get much privacy - we just kept our sheer curtains closed during the day and it was ok. It was still a pretty setting and was handy for the dog, to just pop out the sliding door onto the lawn for a play. Our dog had a blast playing with other dogs staying there as well. We didn't walk into town because our bulldog wouldn't have made it there and back but it's a beautiful and easy walk along the river for anyone able to do so. You can also head the other way on your walk, with beautiful scenery and reasonably easy paths, however a little more rocky and unstable if you have mobility issues. All in all, it wasn't 5 star luxury, but we didn't go expecting it to be for the price or type of Motor Inn it was, so we weren't disappointed. We would stay again.

We stayed in a standard room for 2 nights, we were pleasantly surprised. We stayed in room 21, it was very spacious had a little kitchenette along with a great separate bathroom with a shower and a bath. The rooms are a little vintage in their styling however as a couple in our late 20's we felt they represented great value. The room was spotlessly clean and had all the amenities required.
We walked into town multiple times especially in the evenings, it took us around 15 mins and is a lovely walk. Our room opened out onto the pool and would be perfect for a family in the summer.
We will definitely be back!

Yes the decor is a little tired and the bathroom could do with a freshen up BUT the positives far outweigh the negatives.

The room was huge by motor inn standards, spotlessly clean and well equipped. The pool was welcome after a big days cycling and the location is perfect being a shortish walk from the hustle and bustle of the Bright town centre.

It is also right on the Canyon Walk (fantastic trail into town on the Ovens river) and 500 m from the rail trail.

We loved our stay here and in terms of value for money, especially in peak holiday times, High Country Motor Inn is unbeatable. This was out third trip to Bright and staying here contributed to it being the best. We will be back and definitely have High Country Motor Inn at the top of the preferred accommodation list.

We couldn’t get warm all night with the heater going. Thank goodness for extra blanket on shelf. Very dated room and glad we had just one night here. The hot water was just warm enough for us both to shower with no cold water added. Only 1km from town so an easy 10 min walk. On a positive note it was very quiet with no noise and the heat pump wasn’t noisy.

I booked our room through booking.com and their site said all fees and charges where included in the room price, yet I was still charged a credit card fee. The motel address was also wrong and is located a fair way out of town.

I stayed here for a couple of days this week, it’s situated a little way out of the town centre so was fairly quiet traffic wise. This is a nice motel with rooms backing onto a large garden and pool playground area.
The unit I stayed in was adequately equipped with all you need for a few days, though the bed was a bit spongy on the one side.
Price is pretty good for Bright, and overall I found it fairy easy to get to everything from here.

Great location on way into Bright close to walking trails along the Ovens river, surrounded by beautiful trees and gardens visible from all rooms. Lovely restaurant and bar area serving cooked breakfasts and dinners for our tour group. Spacious Rooms are dated and in need of upgrade and were not serviced daily which was disappointing.

Should of read reviews before we booked but I guess you get what you pay for. The grounds are well maintained , the room was clean as was the linen. BUT the room is dated and tired. There is no kitchen so you have to eat out for all your meals. The little bar fridge is in the bathroom and only a step away from the toilet. Bench space is an old desk and the the TV sits on an old unit. The couch has well and truly seen better days. Im sure it wouldnt cost much to get some cabinetry made and paint the room/

Had a great stay at the high country inn.
Rooms were neat and clean, with a comfy bed and a hot shower! The cathedral ceilings and sliding doors looking out to the well kept motel grounds made the rooms extra cute.
Was the perfect walking distance into the town centre. (For us anyway)
Was a gorgeous walk along the river each morning for our coffee, with a track leading right from the motel grounds. (+ kangaroos 😍)
And a extra big thankyou for being dog friendly!!
It really made our trip extra awesome being able to bring our boys along and not have to camp in a tent for once. We've decided to make this a yearly trip so we'll be back for sure. Thanks so much!

Not a lot of choice at this time of the year and you certainly pay accordingly. After waiting for the woman in reception to finish a lengthy personal phone call I discovered that even at 3.00 in the afternoon you simply collect your key from a box outside the door. If I'd known that she could have kept chatting. Whilst clean enough the rooms are the most outdated I've ever come across. Built in the 70s I'm guessing and never ever changed a thing. Stay here as a last resort.
