Detailed Reviews
So we stayed for 2 nights at this absolutely gorgeous hotel. From the moment we walked in we felt we had arrived at home. The rooms at the hotel are something else, and our room (room 1) was the ultimate in understated luxury: from the fabulous double shower, to the cosy living area and the comfy bed, all furnishings were carefully selected to create that feeling of 'being at home', without being over the top. For the guests there is also an upstairs sitting area with coffee, tea and reading materials. We enjoyed dinner at the restaurant were the staff was very welcoming. The process of checking in and checking out was smooth, complemented by a keyless passcode system. We do travel quite a bit through Victoria, stay at many hotels, and for us, this visit to Bright and the Bright Velo Hotel was a standout experience. Thank you so much. Jan & Cath

Comfortable rooms with friendly staff. The Velo is in a great location within walking distance to many restaurants and facilities, but it was also quiet. There is free parking.
Free wi-fi was available and while a little slow was usable.

I stayed for two nights early March specifically to tackle Mount Buffalo. I’d stayed here in 2013. It has new owners now - Tim and his wife. All the great cycling expectations are still there - great local knowledge, happy to talk cycling, great start off points for Buffalo and Hotham. I stayed in a newly renovated room and I really liked the warm wood touches. Very comfy beds, clean and I felt no issues or fear walking around in my cycling gear on the floors. Great shower after Buffalo (I needed it) and the coffee with a lavazza machine was so good when not everything was open around Bright for breakfast. Wouldn’t hesitate to stay again or recommend.

The first night we stopped in an apartment. The walls were made of painted blocks the rooms were cold, however each room but the main bathroom ( which did not have a bath)did have a heater. The kitchenette was well appointed. The ensuite room showers water did not regulate it was boiling hot or freezing cold . The hairdryer in the main bathroom did not work. Night two we were moved to the renovated Heritage part of the hotel. The doors have electronic code keys which didn’t work for us the second time we tried it. We had to get someone to open the door for us . The code he used was totally different to the one we were given. There is no lift and 25 steps to get to the room. The new room had no vanity in the bathroom so our toiletries had to sit on the floor. The toilet is too close to the wall. There were two sleeping areas not enough space for 4 people to store belongings. When I had my case open on the floor there was no room for anything else. No shelving . We were left to our own devices, there was no one around to assist us with questions.I can see by previous comments this hotel appears to cater mostly cyclists. It did not cater for non cyclists. Therefore if you are not a cyclist with just a backpack don’t bother staying there. The place was under renovation we found the new heritage rooms totally dysfunctional

WOW… where do I begin?! My husband and our 14 month old daughter were lucky enough to stay in one of the newly renovated Heritage Coppi suites and from the moment we entered we were in love! From the beautiful herringbone flooring, the HUGE double shower with brass fixtures and built in seats, his and her vanities, the most gorgeous tiles and the most comfortable bed! You can tell no expense has been spared when it comes to these rooms.
The hotel is in the ideal location in the Main Street, close to absolutely everything, including some amazing restaurants and cafes. We ate downstairs at Empire Dining and again.. WOW! The restaurant itself has also been beautifully renovated. My husband being a carpenter himself was in love with the beautiful timber trusses, the big outdoor deck and all the timber features. We had the steak, pork, wood fired bread and dip and the lamb special, all delicious! We even went back the next day to sit on the deck and enjoyed some of the amazing cocktails on offer. After dinner we were lucky enough to run into Stacy the guest services manager who gave us some great places to go. These were Tatanka, the Berry Farm and the Red Stag Deer and Emu Farm. So much fun had by us and our little girl! We also did the canyon trail which you can walk to. We only wish we could’ve stayed longer at Bright Velo.
Do yourself a favour and check out this stunningly renovated hotel, you won’t be disappointed!

My three sisters and I stayed in a 3 bedroom apartment which was so comfortable and homely as Tim the owner kindly lit the fire whilst we we out and about. Tim's knowledge of the area was vast and he suggested lovely trips we could do. The beds were super comfortable, plenty of hot water for our showers too. We couldn't fault anything. We highly recommend that you stay here when visiting Bright. Thank you Tim for making us feel so welcome. We wish you only the best for the future and we will book in again when in the area ❤️💕

We stayed in the Merckx room (named after cycling great Eddie Merckx). Pleasantly surprised by the size of the lounge room and kitchen, huge balcony and the three bedrooms - two with double beds and two with single beds. To top it off there was an abundance of tea and coffee options available. Was so peaceful. Will definitely stay again - and for longer!

Our two night stay has been very enjoyable . Great service and lovely rooms . The bars and dining are very good with selections of platters and wines to match from the region and Spain. Some Rutherglen iberian wines would enhance the wine list and match the Spanish aspect ! This hotel is great for Brights tourism and wine and dine experience.

Nice place, great rates, great location. Excellent service, top notch business. We will definitely reserve here again when we travel to the area. Tim was very informative about the area and local attractions. Good safe area for parking at night.

Bright Velo was perfect for our short MTB trip as a family. Great location right in town and easy ride to Mystic shuttles. Very clean with ample amenities and storage. Naomi was very welcoming on arrival and directed us to our room. Other staff on site very pleasant and helpful also. Little bit of noise from the outdoor bar area outside our 2 bed apartment from 4pm but it dies down really early and it didn’t really affect us at all as we were so tired from our days riding Mystic. The laundry, secure bike room and wash area were incredibly handy.

No Safe but we have a very low crime rate as Bright is a very small town and the locals see everything
Not sure. Our three person family room had microwave, fridge, forks and spoons and plates in addition to standard. Hope it helps.
Hi Peachyryan
We would love to look after your group in July 😊 Tour de France time, we sometimes stay up to watch a stage or 3.
What kind of cycling would you like to do? Brian is right about Giro 2014 - there is snow on Mt Feathertop now. But you can still ride the rail trail and Mtb tracks. Even road riding in the valleys would work in the middle of the day.
I think mixing up skiing and cycling is a great idea! Everyone should try it.
We have a few room options, depending on what you need. Suggest you check out our website and give Wayne a call - 0437518848.
You can hire bikes from the bike shop - Cyclepath
