Run by cyclists for cyclists, Bright Velo is your base camp for the Victorian Alps. We're not five star accommodation but you can have a five star experience with us. You'll find a warm welcome with lots of like-minded people who love cycling and the outdoor life. Whether you are with the peloton or riding solo, be sure to check out Cafe Velo - Padre coffee and plentiful food for hungry cyclists. Like our guests, we value clean air for all and there is no smoking permitted anywhere on our property. Guests who smoke on our property will sadly not be able to rebook.

I stayed for two nights early March specifically to tackle Mount Buffalo. I’d stayed here in 2013. It has new owners now - Tim and his wife. All the great cycling expectations are still there - great local knowledge, happy to talk cycling, great start off points for Buffalo and Hotham. I stayed in a newly renovated room and I really liked the warm wood touches. Very comfy beds, clean and I felt no issues or fear walking around in my cycling gear on the floors. Great shower after Buffalo (I needed it) and the coffee with a lavazza machine was so good when not everything was open around Bright for breakfast. Wouldn’t hesitate to stay again or recommend.

Spent a few nights here as part of a High Country getaway. The room was cosy, but perfect for just the two of us. Great location, within walking distance of everywhere in town. Set to be renovated in 2021, so will likely only get even better, and Tim seemed a lovely guy. Would have loved to have had the heads up that we needed to run the shower a bit longer (we mistakenly thought there was no hot water one morning, but we just needed to run it for a few minutes, lol)

We stayed here for a couple of days, Tim the manager was friendly, helpful and went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. The room was comfortable and clean the bed was very comfy. Ample off road parking and a stones throw from the town centre and amazing dog friendly restaurants.

We booked here for the busy Melb Cup long Weekend our booking somehow got mixed up & was double booked. They were totally booked out but Tim, the owner, went over & above to compensate & try to help us find alternate accommodation. He then offered us the managers quarters, at a reduced rate, which he then proceeded to renovate prior to our arrival. When we did finally arrive he advised that someone had cancelled & he offered us a 2 bedroom apartment at no extra cost. While the accommodation is not 5 star, the service we received certainly is! Could not fault Bright Velo.. Great Value, Great Host & Great Location! AAA+ Thanks Tim.. we will certainly be back!

Tim, the new owner, is making a start on renovations which is great to see. The bathroom in our room has already had work done, so it was spotless, and the room was next after our weekend away. Great to see this hotel getting some love and attention, I’m sure it’ll continue to get better and better. I am hoping they’ll consider letting our small dog stay next time so I can give up the camping for good ☺️ A good cheap stay for the moment (I’m guessing the prices will go up as the renovations are completed) with a friendly smile.
