This is slightly off the main road but worth the detour. The people running it are quite friendly and helpful. The room I had was comfortable and clean and little outside noise could be heard.

What was the best thing for me was the breakfast which was just great and very affordable. From memory I paid less than $10 for it and if you had it elsewhere you'd have paid significantly more. It kept me going for the whole day.

Would I return to the Statesman Motor Inn? Yes I would and for the reasons above. Not a five star motel but has everything those type of hotels have but maybe a little less in terms of the fittings. But if you want a good clean bed, clean bathroom and an excellent breakfast then this is a good place to go.

Very nice motel, friendly lady to greet us. Our only problem was, being elderly we found bathroom floor to be a bit slippery after shower. Beds very comfy but ours was a bit like a trampoline when the other moved. I would come back at drop of a hat. The ones up back are nice and quiet.

Originally booked this place for one night but a few weeks out I needed to change it to two nights. Emailed motel with the extra date I needed and got a reply to say we were all booked in for second night.

On day of arrival we drove past heading to visit family and one look at the place and I was thinking oh no what have I done. Anyway once we arrived at my Aunty’s place I quickly checked on here for other people’s reviews and was surprised at the good reviews so thought ok it can’t be too bad.

Later in day we returned and went to check in to be told I was a day early. I said No I emailed a few weeks ago to change to two nights. I could tell by look on the guys face that he wasn’t sure what to do, in the mean time I’m quickly checking my emails to make sure I had put the correct dates which yes I had. Eventually he said he did have a room, it was clean but beds needed to be made, give him 20mins. We went and did some shopping and then came back, to our surprise yes the rooms are nice, especially the bathroom which was very new and clean. Only issue was the traffic noise.

After a mixup at a local other motel I was forced to find last minute accom.

A quick call here and the corporate rate was excellent.
The rooms were clean and renovated with Foxtel, nice bathroom and lots of PowerPoints to charge phones and laptops.

I'll be back

Only criticism is the check in and signage.... Looks dated and no computer generated invoices.

The worst night in a motel ever, the noise from the trains, trucks, cars and the tree out the front kept hitting the roof, the fridge was that noisey I had to turn it of. When I handed the key in they didn't even ask how was my stay, never again

Well, not really good times, terrible times actually.

After checking in on a hot day we immediately noticed that the air conditioning was not working. We raised this with a member of management who with great technical prowess waved his hand in front of the aircon unit and stated "It work" before leaving.

After returning late in the evening from one of the town's famed ghost tours, we found the heat from the room's broken air conditioner was unpleasant.

But it seems every cloud has a silver lining. While we weren't fans of the temperature, we peeled back the covers on our beds to find that the cramped heat was indeed favourable breeding conditions for a large group of insects inhabiting the beds and room (see attached photos). While my grasp of entomology is only slightly better than said management's grasp of English, I'm reasonably sure this room was a termite nest.

This prompted a near-midnight drive around town to look for other accommodation. Alas, it was too late in the night and we returned to the termite mount (with our sleeping bags).

Next day we raised these issues with management, who stated "Maybe come in window". We think these laconic wordsmiths were referring to the termites, or maybe the cool air we sought, but alas we didn't stay any longer to discern.

Terrible.

Response from Anh and Hanh N, Manager at Statesman Motor Inn
Responded 26 Nov 2015
Thank you so much for staying with us, Mr. Dymond. We are truly sorry for a few termites appear in your room. We in the suburbs so whenever the weather changes, it will prepare rain appeared many termites like this and certainly will not avoid a few of them flew into the room when you open the door. We hope you understand what did I mean. Air Conditioning actually still operating normally, but under pressure from the frustrating, uncomfortable trip because Aradale Ghost tour was canceled but you never know until you came our motel although Ghost Tour organizing committee announced on their Facebook few weeks ago and in fact we also got a lot of bookings cancellations due to this (you could verify with Aradale Ghost Tour). Because of this reason, you feel claustrophobic and "hot" than normal while in the room. We understood that. The reason we say Air Conditioning still working normally because the room that you've been stayed also have been booked frequently by a guest in the name Geoff Allen worked for the company GELLIES Earthmoving in Ararat from 09/07/2015 until Christmas. He always checked in on Sunday and check out on the Friday or Saturday (depending on workload) every week. He never complained about the air conditioner does not work, if you want you can verify with him on the phone number 0428 528 624. But one thing we could not understand why you said the room was very hot and you had to sleep in a sleeping bag while you turned the electric blankets and even forgot to turn off the switch until we came for cleaning your room. Our cleaner ( Lyn – 0404 420 312) had to switch off electric blankets and changed linen to replace both beds in room. Anyway, we are really sorry because could not change the room as your required because we fully booked that night and unfortunately you are the last to checked in. Hopefully next time you will not encounter problems like this again. Anyway, thank you for booking at our our motel and also very sorry when hearing you feel unhappy during the stay. Regards.

Very noisy & you could feel the vibration of the trucks (would have given the worms & ants underneath a headache) so doesnt make for a great nights sleep. Room was clean though. Just the position that gets all the road noise which would have you nervous about returning

On our way from Adelaide to Melbourne we checked into this motel expecting nothing more than the run of the mill small town aging motel  offering little more than a bed for the night.

We were more than surprised with the larger than usual room which seemed to have been recently renovated. The bathroom was particularly good, completely refitted, modern and spotlessly clean. This was room 6 but not sure about the other rooms.

The bedroom had a small table with two chairs, an armchair and new bench tops, etc. The drapes appeared to be almost new. There unit had the usual array of tea and coffee facilities, microwave, fridge, toaster, plates, cutlery etc. The TV came with Foxtel. Wifi was fine.

The owner confirmed that the renovations were done the previous month.

The motel is located on the highway about 1 km west of town. Although it's on the highway the rooms are at the back and reasonably quiet - apart from a train which rolled through town in the middle of the night. It's about a 10 minute walk from the supermarket and say 15 minutes to the main shopping street.

Highly recommended.

We sent just for dinner.

We were kind of lost in Ararat. Looking for our home that we were renting. We finally found it and then were hungry.

We went there and thought they were closed cause lights were off

We went in and were very well welcomed. The lady was very cool and warm welcoming.

The food was not amazing but anyway was good.

Thanks again
