Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We were visiting family and decided to go out for dinner. The publican was not overly friendly, and it felt like we were inconveniencing him when making the booking, and ordering our meals and drinks. It wasn't super busy - but it did take quite sometime for our meals to come out. When they did they were quite good, the children's nuggets were good (looked and tasted housemate rather than frozen which was great), all the chips were replaced with wedges (not an issue - but also not expected or advised when ordering). The steak was pretty good, schnitzels, chicken, and garlic prawns all pretty good. Pricing was okay too. Would eat here again.

Sunday night dinner in Ararat is not filled with choice but the Courthouse bar and grill was open and was a great choice.
A pleasant character dining room serviced by a central bar that also serves the front bar.
Simple pub food that doesn’t disappoint. We had Bangers and Mash with the freshest salad I have just about every had. The wine list is limited but locally focussed which isn’t an issue as the region produces good quality wines.
Super pleasant barman and prompt service,

The pub, bar and grill was closed because of COVID but the accommodation at the rear of the building was still available. The rooms are clean and comfortable, with heating and cooling, an electric jug, TV and toiletries provided. There are two shared showers and toilets a few steps from the rooms. I could have paid three times more and not been any happier. The location is great.

After the Aradale Tour we needed lunch and the Courthouse was recommended. What a little gem! it is small, friendly and efficient. The food, beer and wine were all top class. we noted a couple came in after 2 and were still able to get a meal. A small pub with good old fashioned service.

So we decided to have a work outing and unfortunately chose this establishment to get a feed before heading to Aradale. I have never ever felt so unwelcome in any space ever. The rudest publican I’ve ever come across. Almost comical. My team works in community services.. we are a friendly bunch .. we were all completely shocked by how bad the service was. No exaggeration. This guy is despicable. DO NOT spend your hard earned cash here. Go elsewhere

The courthouse used to be dreadful. But the new owner has really picked up this little pub and it has become a favourite of mine. Brian and his wife do a great job. The meals are superb and freshly cooked. I’d like to see a few more local wines on the wine list but otherwise it’s great.

Having a giggle at all the reviews and the common theme is the publican. He was not welcoming or affable as many state, in fact we joked about the possibility of his being trained at the Cameron Corner Pub, as we had similar experiences there. The bar and wait staff were delightful and the food delicious.

Wondering how hard he has to work at keeping up his welcoming demeanour.😂

Solo bike traveller. Fantastic late over night rate for this little gem. The owner Brian could not be more friendly or accomodating. Happy sociable nice bar staff and patrons. Well priced and delicious meal to top it off. Secure parking for bike and clean room. Will return if in the area.
