Detailed Reviews
We loved staying at Lanzerac Country Estate: bright and airy, extremely clean room; modern bathroom with plenty of towels; beautiful grounds; very comfortable bed; very gracious hosts; served breakfast with lots of options from healthy choices to comfort food, all delicious.
Location is excellent. An easy walk to nearby wineries. Owners drove us to and from dinner in town so we could enjoy the wonderful Barossa Valley wines without having to worry about driving back.
I can't image a better place to stay in Tanunda.

Hi Libby and Paul. We hope you made it back to the states safely after having to cut your trip short to return. Such a shame but hopefully you can return in the future? Thanks for the review and for your kind words. We hoped you not only enjoyed your time at Lanzerac but also when you ate at Fermentasian and Fino as well as enjoying the farmer's market. Stay safe in California. Regards, Justin.

Our group of 5 couples booked the venue out and we had the run of the place. We used it as a base to check out various Barossa wineries and restaurants. We saw in the New Year in the barn that is part of the complex. On another afternoon we used the BBQ facilities. Nothing was too much trouble for our hosts. Ask and we received, including transportation to and from Tanunda for a restaurant visit. Our rooms were of great quality with every amenity provided. My wife and I found the bed to be very comfortable. The breakfasts, included in the tariff, were outstanding. I recommend the Potato Rosti, delicious! It's located just a few minutes out of Tanunda but all of the Barossa is within easy reach. Oh, there's a pool table as well which was great fun.
For a little under $1,200, breakfast included, for 4 nights in peak season Lanzerac is an absolute must do. BIG tick from me!

Hello John and Roz. It was our pleasure to have your group stay with us over New Years and we sincerely hope the rest of the group share the same sentiment as you have with your review. It was great to see the group enjoy each other's company so much and relax each night in the barn with a few games and laughs. If you ever choose to revisit the Barossa we would love to host you again. Regards, Helen and Ray.

Stayed here for four nights in May. The five rooms are located around the four sides of one old cottage. Our room and bathroom were both very large and tastefully furnished although, our delightful and very helpful host Jonathon advised that, the new owners (Pirathon Wines) hoped to gradually refurbish the rooms to make them even better.
Our bedroom was furnished with a king bed (very comfortable) that had two bedside tables with reading lamps either side of the bed, a long bench at the end of the bed, a single comfortable arm chair (another would have been useful), a plastic fold up table, a Sony Bluetooth player, a minbar, kettle, electric blankets and a flatscreen TV. There was also a small hanging cupboard with two bathrobes.
The room had a reverse cycle air conditioner and a ceiling fan.
The large bathroom had a good sized vanity, a walk-in shower with both rainwater and hand held shower heads (pressure OK) and a huge standalone bath that would have comfortably taken two people. Heating in the bathroom would be useful as would towel rails rather than hooks which don’t really allow the towels to dry properly.
Both the room and bathroom were very clean on arrival and were given what I would call a light clean during our stay with the beds being made and a general tidy up although the floor was not vacuumed.
WIFI was included and worked very well. There was also plenty of free parking.
Breakfast was served in a separate building which the new owners intend to also turn into a tasting room for their nearby winery during Cellar Door hours. This was a lovely space with a fire burning during the mornings, afternoons and evenings. The included breakfast was a very good mix of cold and hot food with several different juices, cereals, breads with a choice of preserves, cheese and meats and a hot selection from a choice of ten different toppings on a muffin or croissant including egg and bacon. Coffee and tea was provided.
Jonathon our host was excellent. Friendly, informative and exceptionally welcoming, including providing us with wine each evening whilst sitting in front of the fire.
Lanzerac is only a couple of minutes drive from the centre of Tanunda or an easy flat 1.3 klm walk. It is also within easy reach of a multitude of wineries and restaurants.
We will definitely stay again.

Our only regret is that we didn’t book a longer stay. The accommodations live up to expectations of a “country estate” with being comfortable and charming with lovely touches such as a welcome snack and quality bath/shower products (perfect for the soaker bathtub). There were numerous options for breakfast and our selections did not disappoint. Location is fantastic with being a short walk/drive to Tanunda and nearby wineries. Our host generously offered to drive us to/from where we had dinner in Tanunda after we enjoyed a glass of wine in the main reception building. We look forward to our return trip!

We were looking forward to our stay as the pictures online looked so peaceful so you can imagine our dismay when we arrived only to discover that our room overlooked a muddy building site where more rooms are being built. You could sit on the veranda and watch the builders grinding blocks in front of you! To add insult to injury, the lovely old house that the rooms are in is situated alongside a road so road trains rumbled a few meters past the bedroom window.
Our room was nicely appointed though the furniture was very basic and the bathroom was very modern.
Breakfast was cooked to order in the barn and was excellent, as was the coffee. And everyone was very helpful.
But I really don't think they should be selling rooms at $290 a night when the property is a building site.

Hi Frank and Anne. Our family takes a lot of pride in the fact we have continually restored and rebuilt the property over the 6+ years of ownership and overwhelmingly our guests understand that on occasion we may be working on another aspect of it during their stay. We have had so many repeat guests looking forward to the next visit to see what else we have done which warms our hearts knowing they feel a connection to our place. We are incredibly conscious of minimising guest disturbances but during the days you were with us we did work on a beautiful new garden bed area near your room.... and to be honest I enjoyed our chats about not only our project but the fact you shared with me your experiences with building your properties in the UK and in Fremantle. I guess then it is a little disheartening to read you review considering I felt we did our best to not only be as conscious of your presence but to also offer our services to you for anything you required such as tour bookings, recommendations, etc.... but I respect your views and only wish we had discussed these in person rather than after the fact. Regards, Justin.

We had a great two-night stay here. The property is a kilometre from the centre of Tanunda, so whilst central, it’s also very quiet in the morning and after dark. It would serve as a base to explore the entire Barossa region, including the Eden Valley.
The property is surrounded by established vineyards and has some old vines on site, as well as a well-maintained lawn and pond. Ray and Helen were excellent and informative hosts, and Ray even drive us out to one of the local restaurants so we could enjoy a tipple.

A sincere thank you for taking the time to review your stay at Lanzerac. We are so grateful to those guests that share their experiences with others to review. Our location is truly a blessing as you rightly pointed out....literally a kilometre to Tanunda's main street but surrounded by vineyards. We look forward to welcoming you back should you wish to return. Regards, Justin.

This hidden gem is only 1.3km off the main street of Tanunda - close enough to walk if the weather is good, but far enough that it is quiet and you can enjoy the serenity.
We arrived for a mid week mini break and were welcomed by host Colin, who immediately put us at ease and explained the history of the property. The Barn is a sympathetically restored space, perfect for a function, but also the venue for morning breakfasts. There are beautiful views of the lake and vines which skirt the property.
Our room was clean, bright and rivalled any hotel. Obvious care has been taken in the fit out to make it comfortable. The king sized bed was comfortable with good pillows, excellent sheets and quilt, soft robes, good sofa (for lingering on a rainy afternoon!) and a sparkling bathroom. Water pressure was a little low, and the hot water was a bit difficult to adjust, but this was only a minor inconvenience.
There was a good bar fridge to store our local booty we had bought from all the wonderful local producers during the day. The TV is small (and I couldn't figure out how to turn off the teletext), but again, this wasn't a big deal. There is a jug of water in the fridge for filling the kettle (you can't fit the kettle under the sink spout), milk is provided and there are snacks if you haven't already brought some.
Helen made our breakfast in the morning - the difficulty was in choosing what to have!!! A lovely selection and I can attest my omelette kept me going all day. My husband went and bought the chipolata sausages after eating them!
Colin very kindly offered to drive us to our restaurants for dinner.
We enjoyed our stay, and will definitely recommend Lanzerac to our friends.

We felt like royalty! The location is fantastic. A well run, family owned boutique hotel with fantastic service. We grew very fond of "Ray" from the minute he met as at check in. He was always around to provide guidance on where we should go next, where we could eat and provided the perfect balance between being the ultimate host, and bringing so much colour and texture to our visit. At night when we explored the many close-by exquisite restaurants, Ray would appear at just the perfect time to ensure we are driven home in style.
We highly recommend visiting Lanzerac. It will change your life!

We booked Lanzerac Estate based on the reviews and couldn’t fault it. We booked with them for our 20th wedding anniversary for two nights and had a fantastic time. Room was clean and beautiful with a big bath. Very responsive to emails and Justin recommended some excellent restaurants for our little getaway. This is a family run Estate where everyone pitches in to help. Great menu for morning breaky and the best bit was having Ray kindly drop us off and pick us up from the restaurant each night. Highly recommend - we will be back!

The Barossa Valley may be beautiful, but staying at Lanzerac is an experience all on its own. Starting with the wonderful and warm welcome from Justin and Wesley, you are treated like old friends - not just guests or strangers. The rooms and grounds are beautifully kept and you can tell that it’s a very special place when you are there. Justin is incredibly knowledgeable of the area and we loved having a drink with him before he escorted us to town so we could have a few more drinks with dinner. Quite possibly the most amazingly cooked omelette for breakfast aswell. Lanzerac will always hold a special place in my heart now as that is where we got engaged. My only regret is we didn’t have more time there. I hope one day to come back and experience it again. Thank you so very much! Ash and Steve

We have 5 suites that can be rented, but depending on when you are coming and if all rooms are booked at that time. We are on 5 acres of land and each suite has an outdoor setting and there are a couple of other spots around the estate that you can choose to sit at. Our guests are all always quiet and are respectful of other guests staying. We do socialise under our "sipping tree" in the afternoons if you choose to join us.
Regards
Casey
