Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

My half cottage (Angus) was very clean, neat and comfortable. It had everything I needed, including a nice bottle of local red wine! It is within walking distance of the Tanunda main street and situated in a quiet part of the town. Off street parking was appreciated.

The host was easily contactable and very helpful.

I reckon I'll be back!

Located centrally among the wineries, Langmeil Cottages is a welcome retreat after a big day of wine tasting. All the major wineries are no more than 15 to 20 minute drive with numerous boutique wineries all around. The cottages are comfortable with all the essentials and you are provided with cereals, juices, chocolates, fruit, sparkling wine and more. Your hosts are focused on you and provide wonderful accomodation and info on the area.

The wine is good, but to be truthful, I really enjoyed the beautiful heritage buildings of Langmeil Cottages. They are largely in their original state with lovely lawns, a tree that is probably an almond tree, several wooden log planters and a visiting artist who was there as part of the annual South Australia Living Artists program.

There's sufficient parking and the entrance has a long driveway with some heritage artifacts at a little park on the left, an old storage building which, when I visited, had an artist and her exhibition of unique paintings, most of which had been sold.

The wine tasting area had a wood fire burning and was pretty well full as to buses of tourists were imbibing in the local Langmeil delights.

Nearby in the tasting area is a small wall unit with a variety of products from the region.

It's a very pleasant little spot, even if you don't want to taste the wines.

Unfortunately Langmeil Cottages did not live up to our expectations. We were not met on arrival, which was not a major concern, however the key to the unit was left on the back door of the owner's house, but there was no note on the door of our unit to say this was so. There were no 'Bubbles' on arrival as promised, and these did not appear until the next day after we advised this was the case. A bit late by then. Prior to arrival we advised we would pay by EFTPOS (direct bank cash transfer), so that we could avoid being charged an additional $10 credit card fee. In spite of this we were still charged the fee - a rip off and unnecessary. The design of the Cottage was strange to say the least. There is a large 3m x 2m 'hole' in the wall between the bedroom and living area that transmits both light and sound into (and from) the bedroom (lack of privacy!) If one is trying to sleep, and another watching TV or working on laptop this is a major issue, and there are obvious others! We have never stayed in a unit where there is a hole in the bedroom wall. The AirCon was on Hot when we arrived, and not being familiar with these kinds of AirCon units where the control panel is hidden from view, we endured a very warm and muggy night with the AirCon turned off. The owner rectified this the following day while we were out, but by then it was too late - some immediate responsiveness to this problem would have been expected. The oven door would not open fully as it hit the bathroom door frame. The outside lighting at night is very poor, with no lighting from the carpark to the door of the unit, and only dim soffit lighting outside the unit. A plant outside the front door of the unit with a protective wire cage around it was a death trap in the pitch dark - twice we tripped over it. I have a healing serious leg injury, and not being able to see obstructions such as this could have set my recovery back by 6 months. It was very fortunate indeed that no further injury was sustained.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stop here in 2016, so when planning our trip for this year, there was no debate over where we would stay in Tanunda. Once again we were not disappointed. In ‘Standish’ this time we had all the amenities needed for this to be a perfect base, and Cynthia remains a wonderful host - everything you need is to hand, the only drawback was our schedule - which restricted how long we could stay!
Convenient to visit many quality wineries, this remains highly recommended accommodation- thanks for another wonderful stay, we hope to return!

Very cute cottage…very homely. Unfortunately the bed was very uncomfortable (too soft which gave us a sore back as we’re not used to having such a soft bed) but in the scheme of things we didn’t mind too much because the rest was great! We loved hearing the different birds sounds as well. Great location as well and close to the shops, and of course the beautiful vineyards which is why we came to the Barossa! Very friendly staff as well, so highly recommend staying here if you’re visiting the Barossa Valley.

Very neat and tidy modern "cottage ". Olde worlde furnishings (lace curtains, doilies, uncomfortable bed, heaps of heavy blankets). Great shower with piping hot high pressure water.
Away from the main street of Tanunda so very quiet - except for the yappy dog next door that starts up at 6am.
With a comfortable bed and a decent light weight doona and I would stay again!!

These cottages are a great place to stay while in Tanunda. The Main Street is a short drive or a leisurely walk. Each cottage is self contained and has everything needed. There is a separate bedroom off the lounge, kitchen and dinning area.

I am sorry but I cannot recall if there is a hair dryer in the bathroom, but would suggest you look up Langmeil Cottages on the internet & send them an email through their contact page. I’m sure they will be able to let you know.

Sorry I only just noticed your request. No the room won't fit a cot and doesn't have room for a toddler. It's only designed for a couple.
