Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

Myself and Mrs DownUnder stayed here for 5 nights on our Barossa visit. We booked the Langmeil room as it has an en-suite and is very spacious. The room is very grand with period style furnishings. The hosts Greg and Christine are very friendly and chatty without being intrusive. The property is kept very clean and is a 3 - 4 min stroll into the heart of Tanunda. They rent out electric bikes to guests for the day at half the price of bike rental outlets. We booked them for our last day and had a thoroughly enjoyable day riding around the Barossa taking in the sights. If you want a TV in your room you’ll be disappointed as there are none. There’s a shared TV in the guest lounge if needed. However, we found the absence of TV added to the peace and tranquillity. If you’re looking for a peaceful stay close to everything I can highly recommend Fernweh as your accommodation choice.

Beautiful heritage home with all the amenities. Our suit was exquisite with a bath jacuzzi and a poster bed. Beautiful bedding and a workable fireplace. The home and the grounds were emaculate. Breakfast included Highly recommended

We stayed as two couples for two nights. The whole place is spotlessly clean. We had the Langmeil room with the 4 poster and spa bath. Lovely spacious room. Our son and partner stayed in the Bethany a smaller intimate room with newly renovated en-suite shower room.Good breakfast with plenty of hot and cold choices. Great location as we could take a short walk into Tanunda for meals. Greg runs excellent Wine Tours (highly recommend). Both Chris and Greg are great hosts and there are many little extra touches that made for a wonderful stay.

Greg and Chris are delightful owners of this immaculate Tanunda home stay accommodation in the heart of the Barossa Valley. We stayed 3 nights after a short drive from Adelaide. Centrally located in the town , walking distance to many dining options. A very fine breakfast is served in the enchanting dining room by the hosts. Our room and bathroom was spotlessly clean and the king bed so so comfortable. Greg conducts Fernweh Wine Tours around the region. We had the best day with him sampling the local wines and produce. Wonderful memories thanks to Chris and Greg. Cheers Barbara and John

We spent 3 nights here to visit the Barossa Valley wineries. What a wonderful welcome we received from Greg and Chris. Their accommodation is perfect - beautiful heritage decor and very clean. We stayed in Langmeil room which also had a door into the garden. Nothing was too much trouble and we had access to a small kitchen where we could make drinks, store food and even use a washing machine. They certainly know what makes a stay perfect. And the breakfasts, which were cooked to order, were delicious too. We hadn’t organised any trips before we arrived and we didn’t need to. We hired their electric bikes one day - I’d definitely recommend them as a relaxed way to view some wineries. And then Greg took us on a customised tour of the Barossa - not just wines but so much more.

We stayed for 2 nights at Fernweh Guesthouse and would highly recommend it. Greg and Chris were excellent hosts, making us feel welcome and valued. The house is beautifully decorated and furnished and spotlessly clean. The bed was so very comfortable with quality linen. There were several freshly cooked choices for breakfast together with fresh fruit, cereal, juice, toast and coffee. There was a well equipped kitchenette for guests’ use, including a washing machine. Chris kindly pegged out my washing to dry while we were out for the day!

Our gracious hosts Chris and Greg have spared nothing in their attempt to provide for a perfect guesthouse experience for visitors to the Barossa. Upon arrival, one is immediately struck by the beautiful appearance of the home both front and in the carefully manicured back garden. Inside, the appointments are gracious, of-a-period pieces that surround you in comfort in a home that is super clean. Our bed was a four poster with canopy and a king-size bed to boot. So comfy. Our bedroom (Langmeil) was huge and we enjoyed complete privacy together with a large spa bath, excellent shower, fluffy towels and reliable wi-fi. In our “wing”, there was also a separate guest kitchenette/sitting room which allowed me, the family’s early riser to give my wife nearly two hours of extra sleep. Our brekkies were served over candlelight (!) and delicious. Our hosts were lovely, and provided valuable advice about the region. Travelled widely and often, but have rarely if ever stayed at a property so lovely as this one or met hosts so firmly dedicated to the comfort of their guests. Need I say more?

My wife and I stayed here for 2 nights to celebrate our wedding anniversary. It was a great choice as the house is beautifully presented and very comfortable. Chris and Greg are fabulous hosts and looked after us really well with a bottle of wine to welcome us, and a delicious breakfast each morning. The house has 3 guest rooms, two have ensuites and the other one has it's own bathroom just down the hallway. There is also a common lounge room with books, games and a television. The house is well located as it is only a short walk (less than 2 minutes) to the main street of Tanunda and many coffee shops and restaurants. Highly recommended

We stayed two nights at Fernweh Guest House and had a wonderful time at this accommodation. This place is well-appointed. It is conveniently located near wineries and walking distance to Tanunda centre. This intimate accommodation is beautifully presented. Greg and Chris did a fantastic job with this place. Mum and I love the attention to detail of all the rooms in the house, including the formal lounge. Our bathroom is well presented, fabulous hot shower and bathrobes came handy. Fabulous complimentary chocolates and drinks are a lovely touch. Greg provided an excellent, friendly wine tour. He put so much thought to it to ensure that we’ll have great day. He customised the trip to our liking. Best wine tour! Thank you, Greg and Chris. It has been lovely.
