Very clean and comfortable accommodation.
You must be happy with shared bathrooms and only fans in rooms
But you must remember the cost is very reasonable.
Nice bar with cold drinks and excellent dining room it’s great meals.
Great value for money
We were on the Aussie Camino walk from Portland to Penola and they arranged breakfast and take away lunch

Nothing but good things to say about this hotel! We were a table of 4 - ordered our meals and they came out really quickly and were very good. I had a steak, which was reasonably priced and cooked perfectly to my preference. Other half had fish and chips, which was a very generous serve of moist fish with nice crisp batter and good chips. The other couple's meals were equally as good. Salads were extra, but we were all offered a complimentary bowl of salad anyway, which was very nice of them. The staff were very friendly and helpful on wine, etc. The wine list is limited, but has some good choices on it.
There are limited eating out options in Port Mac, especially for an evening meal, so make sure you put this one on your list to visit!

Started our week break in the South East at Mt Gambier, but glad we went down to Port MacDonnell for a look at the beautiful sea views and a stop at the pub for a couple. The Barman was very accommodating in helping us choose some wineries to visit in the Coonawarra and the local guys at the bar were very nice and chatty. We all had a bit of fun trying to guess all the sportsman in the Legends Bar potrait.
A very nice hour spent......tks.

Great food and service. Ann- Marie was very friendly and kindly gave me a takeaway container as my pasta dish was so huge I could only eat about 1/2. It was delicious and so was my husband’s seafood basket. Wasn’t very busy as it was Monday night.

Great hotel in beautiful seaside fishing town. Good old country hospitality. All staff friendly, good tucker, beer garden, verandah glassed area, sports bar - ship wrecked, large bistro. Reasonable prices. Good local fishing photos on the walls. Enjoyed our time here.

Well after the great dining reviews on Facebook we decided not only to eat there but to stay there as well and I really wish we hadn't.

We stayed on a Monday nite. The accommodation was nice, clean & cosy and the service was good BUT:

The bistro was extremely disappointing and a waste of money.

I had the lamb shanks which said they come with mash and a red wine gravy. It came with a steak knife which was the first sign of trouble. This shank should have fallen off the bone but was as tough as nails and dry.. There was no red wine gravy, just a tin of tomatoes on top (which I'm unable to eat). If there was any mention of tomato in the meal I would have ordered something else. Apart from the shank it was 90% tomato yet nothing mentioned on the menu about it. So after my boyfriend picked at the meal, so as not to waste the $25, for that meal alone, we left a nearly untouched meal to go upstairs to make a sandwich. Being remote there wasn't any other options for dinner and we just wanted some sleep after the long drive and disappointing meal.

Unfortunately, trying to get some sleep was excruciating! The Music downstairs on a Monday nite blaring until after midnight, was so loud it made my keys rattle on the table in our room. So, Rather than a good nites sleep, all I got was a migraine. I called front desk at Round 11.30pm to ask how much longer the music was going to be on, the lady was very apologetic but said the place was packed and won't turn it down until the people leave. She turned it down slightly while I was on the phone but Before I could put the phone down and get back under the doona, it was blaring again.

After finally getting to sleep we were woken at around 6am to bottles being emptied into a bin and a lot of clunking.

My boyfriend and I decided to cut our losses on the 2nd nite that we already paid for to leave a nite early, we just couldn't handle another day and nite of that.

Terrible experience

Called in there for a beer and some local information. Not a welcoming place, local blokes talking loud and swearing, bar staff not that helpful and gave us wrong information with overpriced beer. Definitely more a locals pub than a visitors one.

We had take away fish and chips, and it was fantastic, couldn't fault it. The pub is under new management with a wonderful new Italian influenced menu, and the new publican is very friendly and helpful.
