Detailed Reviews
Enjoyed a one night stay in a king suite while travelling. Our great experience started when welcomed by the cheery front office staff, then continued in our room. Everything was very comfortable and the aircon efficiency was very welcomed. The bathroom was spacious and with great sized, fluffy towels -the pump serve shower multipurpose soap/shampoo/conditioner was the only disappointment.
The bed and pillows were SO comfortable-a wonderful night’s sleep was enjoyed.
Breakfast provisions and bottles of water were ample.
The hotel is right behind a well stocked and very clean IGA store so a dinner of cheese platter and some deli treats sufficed after a day on the road.
Would recommend this hotel to anyone travelling to Penola.

Hi gilly1259, we are really pleased you enjoyed your stay. The IGA next door does have a great cheese selection, we often get tempted ourselves. Regards Tania & Paul.

We stopped here on a long and winding road trip from Adelaide to Melbourne. The motel is lovely. The room was large, warm and inviting and spotlessly clean. The owner had turned the heating on for us and that was much appreciated on such a cold night. He was friendly and helpful and full of tips for where to eat and where to visit. The price included breakfast, which was a range of toast and spreads, yoghurt, cereal, fruit juice, tea and coffee. The room is well equipped with toaster, microwave and full range of crockery and cutlery. Would definitely recommend and would visit again. The town is a quaint well maintained country town, only a tiny stroll away.

What a wonderful stay! We thought AC Suites was so much more than a motel. Huge rooms with kitchenette, breaky included and very very clean. As B and B hosts ourselves we know exactly what's involved in delivering high quality, good value accommodation. These guys have nailed it!

We arrived at AC after spending a week traversing the Great Ocean Road. Arriving at AC was such a relief because
1 . We didn’t have to pull our luggage up stairs (all units are on the ground floor).
2. The car park is outside the door of the apartment, meaning that it was easy transferring luggage from car to apartment
3. The space (oh, the wonderful space) inside the apartment. We weren’t falling over our luggage. As well as having space to move, we also had a table, a lounge and a king size bed!
4. The bathroom was large, meaning that we could both use the bathroom easily without getting in each other’s way.
5. A lovely surprise that breakfast was included. This is truly appreciated. We have spent the last week getting up and walking to breakfast (and this can be lovely) but to have the option of a leisurely in-room breakfast, for the next few days, is welcome.
6. The location is fantastic. The IGA next door is great (I like tinned fruit with my cereal :). The prestige restaurant, Pipers at Penola, is a very short walk, as are all the local shops. Historical buildings were just a short walk away.
7. The room was serviced each day. I realise that the fact the previous rooms weren’t serviced because of Covid, so we really appreciated that AC rooms were.

Stayed here with my wife and 7 year old daughter on the long weekend. After having to cancel two previous bookings due to border closures we finally were able to make it over from Melbourne. The room was very spacious even with the queen size bed and single bed. Very handy little kitchenette with microwave and a welcome basket with cereal tea and coffee supplies etc. Large bathroom with great water pressure and endless hot water that is quite rare to find in country motels.
Location can’t be beat either, right in the Main Street of Penola. Next door is the IGA supermarket and the Royal Oak Pub and the bakery is a block away as are all the shops and cafes . There’s a play ground for the kids a 5 minute walk from the motel too.
We really enjoyed our 3 night stay here and will return for sure.

I could not rate this motel more highly for a central place to stay in Penola to explore the Mary MacKillop experience and of course access to the Coonawarra wine region. First thing I noticed was the abundance of car parks right outside each room, so no lugging bags around. The rooms were clean and massive with king sized bed, dining table, couch, desk space, excellent free wifi and the bathroom with walk in shower is bigger than some rooms I have stayed in during my worldly travels. Continental breakfast is provided in the room with cereals, yoghurt, bread (with toaster included) and a Nespresso coffee maker with pods. Housekeeping was excellent, I really can't fault this property.
For a meal, one of the two local pubs is only five minutes walk up the road, along with the IGA supermarket.
Thank you so much Paul & Tania, this property is a credit to you.

We were recommended to stay here on advice from our tour guide and we could not fault it!
The room was spacious and very clean. A light breakfast was included which made the morning of a wine tour that much easier!
Great location - right next door to an excellent IGA and near the main street.
Customer service was spot on and the dog on site was an added bonus!
I highly recommend and will look at staying here again, next time we travel to the Coonawarra.

Our four night stay at the Alexander Cameron Suites was perfect.
Our stay was in Room 1 which is the access room and it was fantastic having a dedicated parking bay close to the room. The sheer size of this room meant moving around on crutches (especially in the bathroom) was easy. (Wheelchairs would have no problems at all in this room). The room tariff includes a continental breakfast which was a great start to each day. The motel was booked out for our entire stay but was never noisy, nor did it feel crowded. The beds and pillows are comfy and our room was quiet.
The central lawn area with picnic tables and benches was perfect for enjoying our days purchases of wine and nibbles. The lawn was immaculately maintained, as were the gardens.
What made our stay truly special was the care and attention of Tania & Paul who are the motel owners. At all stages of our pre-stay, everything was so easy, and our welcome was warm and friendly. For staying multiple nights, the complimentary bottle of wine was a welcome surprise. Tania & Paul offered great suggestions for wineries, cafes, restaurants and sightseeing drives. You can tell this couple love what they do and are passionate about their local area. Many other properties we have stayed could learn a lot about customer service from Tania & Paul.
We highly recommend this property and hope to return again soon.

Well thank you so much Rudy55 for your lovely words. It is a pleasure to meet and help such friendly customers. Hope you haven't drank all that wine you bought, and enjoy the rest of your holiday. And keep bossing your husband around while you are on your crutches. Speedy recovery to you. Cheers Tania & Paul.

I’ve stayed at this place 3 times now for work and every time it’s been fantastic. The rooms are large with a great bathroom. Great amenities, fridge, toaster, kettle etc. they even provide a continental breakfast everyday with bread, yoghurt, juices and even ground coffee for the plunger. The best part of this hotel is the local dog billy. Greeted me at my door every morning and night. Great hotel
