Had 1 night here and must say that nice location by the sea , The Motel is very average and no were to eat but in the Town. We went to Port Hughes Pub for dinner. Well what a good meal and very good price . Great Sunsets at dusk . Just somewere to sleep and move on .
Had a cosy stay for 2 nights with hubby. Clean room, due to COVID room servicing isnt available. Which didnt bother me, I can make my own bed and wash my own dishes. Reception including Checkin is at the Caravan Park as it has been for quite sometime now which is no big deal and there is still after hours assistance if need be. Room has a toaster and tea coffee making facilties and if you need anything they will do their upmost to accomodate. Great service, nothing was too much trouble.
We booked for a 3 night stay at the beautiful Moonta Bay, however the Moonta Bay Patio Motel is far from beautiful. First disappointment was to find restaurant attached to motel is no longer operating and doubt that it has for some time, so don't think that was just a pandemic issue. There is only one other place to eat in Moonta Bay so that left us with no choice. Why weren't we warned of this when we booked. Their advertising says the motel had been completely refurbished - yes there was a coat of paint, a new toilet and a new vanity - the bathroom floor and shower screen are original and very tired looking. 2 people booked in, 2 towels, 2 hand towels, no bathmat, 1 small soap for 2 people for 3 days?? Our major problem was when we returned from our first day's outing we were shocked to find the room hadn't been serviced, all wet towels still hanging as we'd left them, breakfast dishes unwashed, bed unmade - not the sort of service one expects when holidaying in a motel. When I approached the only staff member i saw (Judy) she told me that no servicing was allowed during the pandemic. Funny that as i then rang a few other motels in the general area and they all confirmed that their rooms were being serviced daily. Judy did try and redeem the situation by bringing new towels and replenishing stocks of tea, coffee etc. Oh, and if you like a glass of wine at the end of the day, take your own glasses, as only 3 tumblers are supplied. Only a very small pouch of dishwashing detergent was supplied to wash our own dishes for 3 days. I do believe Judy is doing the best she can having been left to cope by the owners, but seriously no room servicing was just ridiculous and spoilt our whole experience of Moonta Bay. It does make me question if rooms are actually cleaned once guests move out. The sight of unironed pillowslips does make me wonder about the cleanliness of the bed linen. I sympathise with all small businesses during these trying times, so really do not like complaining, but if this sort of standard is maintained, there really is only one way this motel is going I'm sorry to say. We have travelled extensively both internationally and domestically and have never experienced unserviced rooms before.…
Booked months ago, arrived, staff stated no key available, that I had to go over to caravan park to get it myself? Odd start. The room is very small for a king room, with a bank of air-conditioners out behind the bathroom. Very loud all night, even with window and door closed. Average for quite an expensive room
Close to the beach and has a nice restaurant. Rooms were rather comfortable, though tricky when it comes to checking in as staff not always available. A bit of a hike from the town as well. However, not a bad place to stay.
