Detailed Reviews
We stayed in Priests Suite for two nights and also experienced the Long Lunch. Priests Suite is one large, comfortable room with a separate bathroom. It shares a doorway with Pulsford Suite so your neighbours are very close but it was not a problem at all for us.
The included provisions were very generous and beyond the breakfast things also included cheese and crackers and shortbread biscuits.
We knew the room included a kitchenette so we were not expecting a stove/oven. Apart from the convection microwave the only cooking appliances are a large electric frypan, kettle and toaster, so prepare accordingly if you want to cook anything other than breakfast. The Magpie and Stump Hotel, at the end of the street, does dinner.
If you need to shop, or even buy a newspaper, you need to drive to one of the nearby towns. If you must have internet access you’ll need to rely on your own devices. Take books as we did and you’ll have a free digital detox.
The Long Lunch at Reilly’s was lovely. Maybe needs its own review.
We enjoyed it very much and can now make a decent risotto in an electric frypan!

Despite seeing pictures when booking, when we arrived at the cottages we were amazed with how beautiful they were! The small town was a wonderful location for our trip - we were extremely pleased with how welcoming all the staff at Reillys and other folk in the area were. All the beds were very comfortable, and the provided provisions were excellent for what we needed. We could see ourselves returning for another trip.

My husband and I stayed here for three nights in the Pay Office Cottage. The heritage accommodation is small but very cosy and the bed and pillows were so comfy. The price was very reasonable and the breakfast provisions provided were very generous also. Reilly's Wine Cellar Door and Restaurant is within easy walking distance. The food is great and they have an excellent range of wines. The Magpie and Stump Hotel is situated just across the road from Reilly's and they have excellent meals too. We enjoyed our stay in Mintaro. It is a lovely place to stay, very peaceful and quiet, it's great for a relaxing getaway. We will definitely be back.

There are a number of properties that fall under the ‘Reilly’s’ banner in Mintaro, and this review is specifically about the Pulford cottage.
We had there nights in this beautiful historic village on the eastern edge of the Clare Valley.
Pulford occupies one half of this lovely stone cottage, just a short walk from both the Reilly’s cellar door/restaurant and the Magpie Stump hotel. You share the front door with guests in the other half of the building. That wasn’t a problem for us, the couple in the other half were are quiet as we were, but something to be aware of.
Pulford is one room with a ‘kitchenette’, bed, sofa, table and combustion fire, with plentiful wood supplied. A comfortable bathroom is off this room.
Parking is easy & plentiful.
My negatives are few, but for me significant: no cooktop or oven, no wifi, poor lighting (for reading) power point x2 not working. No champagne glasses- in a wine area.
Really, for the price, I expected more.

O'Reilly's Cottages were a great base for our 3 days experiencing the Clare Valley. Mintaro is a beautiful, quiet historic town, close to all the Clare Valley wineries etc. The cottage was very comfortable, clean & warm. As guests, we also received a discount on our purchases from their cellar door.

Stayed in the Paymaster’s Cottage for four nights. This was a fabulous stay in a building that has so much character. It was plenty big enough for 2 adults and was very comfortable.
We were exploring the Clare vineyards and this was a perfect base….only a short drive to most vineyards and cafes.
Our hosts were super generous with breakfast provisions and wine….you won’t go hungry!
Literally 100 metres away is the historic town of Mintaro, Riley’s Wines and the Magpie and Stump hotel.
Highly recommended.

A very pleasant suite: clean, well appointed, cosy and comfortable. Very generous provisions for a cooked or continental breakfast. A perfect place for a quiet weekend in picturesque, peaceful Mintaro.
We happily partook of the Long Lunch at Reilly's Restaurant - five delicious and beautifully presented courses, each paired with stunning Reilly's wines. Highly recommended.
Many thanks to Julie, Justin and the staff.

We were late to book and this accommodation was the only left. However, we thought we were very lucky because it was a beautiful old heritage building, reasonably comfortably fitted out, inclusive of breakfast rations, microwave etc. Night one was OK however there were some mosquitoes. Night two was a nightmare re mosquitoes. I dont normally react or worry about them, however, they were so so so bad. Can only hope it was an oversight by the owners, and they do take measures to get rid of them. (Yes we had aerogard, but little use). A ceiling fan might have helped. (They did have aircon, but we did not use). The other issue, was the smoke detector, great that they have one, however, a green light directly over where you sleep was a little annoying.

Stayed in the Priest’s Cottage 11-14 May 2020. What a treat. Comfy room with log fire. HUGE supply breakfast provisions, hot an cold. Most tourist places closed due to Covid19 but still enough to see and do in the area. Many thanks to Julie and the Reilly’s team for making out stay memorable.

My partner and I stayed here some time ago, and as we decided to go away at the last minute on a long weekend, we unfortunately couldn't get in anywhere else but here.
Would definitely not recommend staying here in Winter - the floor which appeared to be dirt covered with carpet/mat was not enough to stop the cold coming up from under the floor. When we arrived, the temperature in the cottage was 13.5C and getting the open fire to heat the room was an uphill battle from the start (we have an open fire at home so aren't strangers to using this form of heating). We were staying two nights, and used all the wood left for us on the first night! I actually wanted to go home after the first night, but ended up finding their secret wood stash in a shed to use for our second night.
We have done extensive travelling, and struggle to write anything nice about our stay here. I did write a letter to express our disappointment, but did not receive any favourable response. At any other time of year, this might be a nice place to stay, but definitely not during the colder months.

Hi there Thanks for your feedback. We were most disappointed to hear about your unpleasant stay at our property. Please be assured your experience is most unusual for us as we have not received feedback of this sort in the past. We are one of the main businesses in Mintaro and have been operating here for 20 years. We pride ourselves on providing our customers with quality products and outstanding service. Unfortunately this time something seems to have gone wrong. It is also important to know that our staff are on site and available from 10am to 4pm, 7 days a week to assist with any queries with the facilities or supplies in our B&B cottages. We would certainly like to welcome you back to stay with us again and we would endeavour to make your stay a more positive one. Kind regards The team at Reillys Wines
