Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We only needed a bed for the night and this motel was adequate.
The beds were comfortable and the shower had good pressure snd nice hot water. It seemed clean, but a bit hard to tell with such old fittings.
The reception area was dark and uninviting, first impressions are important!! The owners were accommodating and pleasant.
The carpets tiles were old and worn as were the curtains. The bathroom we had was old and very dated, though functional, and the shower screen had a built up of calcium scale quite a way up the panel. There were some rooms which had had a facelift, but only had 1 small double bed. We required 2 beds. The outlook to that room was over the rubbish bins and a heap of junk, maybe belonging to the owners.
The swimming pool was not nice and clear and inviting. Looked as though it was struggling to keep up with the hot weather. I wouldn't have felt safe swimming in it.
All in all I have stayed in many country towns in cabins in caravan parks for around the same price with much more modern fittings and better amenities. For the price, definitely not value for money.

I wasn't so sure that this would get a great review on first impression. The rooms are very basic, however, there were a number of plus marks - the aircon worked well and kept the room warm. The bed was quite comfortable. The bathroom facilities all worked well. There was a good size television in the room.

On the negative side, the buildings need some updating. The rooms were a little musty. The rooms view was across a paved yard at painting and garden equipment not packed away.

We stayed in Millicent as it was close to a function on the night and after looking at the opposition, we made the right choice for accommodation.

Stayed years ago and the place is looking very tired now. A little effort in clearing spider webs outside (right by the key hole for our room and elsewhere) and mowing the lawn can go a long way in the overall appearance for little effort. The pool itself was clean but the surrounding garden was a sorry sight. No-one at Reception and there was a check in Kiosk outside. It worked great but wasn't explained when I rang an hour earlier to book. No tax invoice received or registration card to sign (as the place was locked up).Another guest arrived and was quite lost as there was no key for her and no-one was answering the hotphone. I did book direct and received a small discount which was nice.

When I booked this I was just looking for close to the hospital, the manager knew my husband was having an operation. Yeah OK it looks tired BUT the room was clean, the bed comfortable, the shower was hard and hot and the staff lovely, hell what more could I want for this price; there’s even a pool in the secure back yard.. Knowing our situation the manager even rang me and asked if we needed anything, how kind is that. I’d go back.

Room Tip: Don’t ignore this motel, I think some of the reviews were a bit harsh, this is not a $250 a night...

This was the only accommodation available close to Mayura Station, less than 10 mins away. My expectation was not high, but convenience prevailed. Unfortunately I have to admit this is the worst accommodation I have stayed in to date. Unit 1 was on the Main Street with views facing the back of the main building where the store all their redundant equipment/ signs etc. Tte wine glasses still had lipstick stains on it and the water was unsinkable. We could not wait to get out of there.

What a great find. We had just been in beachport and the hotel we booked was disgusting so we needed elsewhere! (Last minute) The rooms were clean and Will was welcoming! Great location with a great pool. Perfect when the weather was in the 40’s! Just one thing. The pool area could do with a clean from spider webs! I was a little scared to open the gate. 🤙🏻

Had 4 day stay. Booking in was easy, friendly . Outside was average but very happy when we opened the door. Bathroom modern enough, room decent size, wifi good. Bed comfortable and warm. Although close to road we couldn't hear any traffic noice inside.

We had a disastrous stay.
I made bookings and restaurant reservations 7 weeks in advance. We were told the restaurant was privately booked when we checked in at 5pm. We had to go off site to find somewhere nice for my Birthday dinner.
The Facility hosted a huge function, with very loud live band, and plenty of drunk revellers not 15m from our room. We called the manager 4 times through the evening. At 10pm we were told it was winding up. After 1 am things quietened down.
On checkout, due to the inconvenience, we were given a substantial discount. But with only 3 hrs sleep and a long day and 4hr return trip ahead...sleep deprivation was awful.
If only we were informed on check in, we would have gone somewhere else.
Very disappointed.

Response from Will B, Owner at Sandpipers at Millicent
Responded 9 Dec 2015
Here at Sandpipers we do on occasion have functions such as wedding receptions, birthday parties and work Christmas shows, however we are always mindful of our guests and keep noise to a minimum. On this particular occasion you have grossly exaggerated the amount of noise and the time that it finished. We had a full house on this night (30 rooms) and the only complaint that we received was from your room which was one of the furthermost rooms from the function centre. I noticed that you didn't mention in your review how your thought the room was excellent with a new queen bed, new carpet, new TV, bath sheets instead of towels and freshly painted throughout, as we upgraded you to one of our Queen Deluxe rooms for your birthday. It is true that there was an error with regard to you booking a table at our restaurant and we did sincerely apologise for this, however this is no excuse for a grown woman to throw a hissy fit like a two year old having a supermarket tantrum which is how you reacted when informed that we couldn't look after you in the restaurant. I feel that this review is vindictive as we did everything we could to look after you, except cancel the local councils christmas show which seems to have been the only way to placate you. As hard as we try, we can't keep everyone happy all the time, but we do our best. Some people just aren't happy unless they are complaining about something. Merry Christmas.
