After being 6 days in the outback and a long drive from birdsville it was a pleasure to arrive at this hotel. The owners are so hospitable and with great food. Stayed in cabins and they were very good with great air con. Nice pool to cool off in. However the true test of the hospitality industry is customer service...

From the welcome to the goodbye everything was friendly and first class. Room was clean and comfortable and food was good. Bonus continental breakfast (all you can eat) and available in dining area included in the tariff . Pool in hotel grounds was clean and tidy. As there was heavy rain expected Rebecca advised for me to ring from William...

5 star service is an understatement - Thank you for being hospitable. The place is clean, comfortable and food in the pub is delicious with loads of variations on the menu. Changes very frequently. The pub had a very good atmosphere for a drink or two.

A bit loud on a Friday night but given family room away from noise. Friendly helpful staff. Room not fantastic but clean and good for price and location. Food reasonable. Arrived late but was not an issue. Basic continental breakfast included, paid the extra for bacon and eggs and enjoyed them.

Visited this hotel during a very busy time this year and they were well organised and hands on. The pub was full of people but the service was great and you didnt wait more than few minutes to be served. The pub part of the hotel lacks a bit of character but I guess it is who you drink with...

Summary - a basic 3 star cabin which was clean, with working AC & a comfortable bed. Excellent, friendly service with things like flights & tours arranged on request. Reasonable continental breakfast included From the website we got info about a full day tour, but when we asked about it Bec advised that the guy who normally ran it wasn't...

As the self-contained cabins were booked out we stayed in a room in the main hotel. It was very basic accommodation with a shared bathroom down the hall. The floor was extremely creaky but it did have a nice balcony overlooking the town and some old-time character. There were few people staying in the hotel rooms so the sharing of...

We had one night in Marree on our APT tour on the way to Birdsville. It is the only accommodation in the very small town. We stayed in the poolside apartments which are prefabricated stand alone units and are roomy, comfortable and clean. The hotel provides good meals and the hotel walls are covered with interesting historical and other memorabilia.

We arrived in a very soggy Marree with the intention of camping behind the pub before we started our loop of Oodnadatta, Simpson Desert, Birdsville, Marree. As the mud was ankle deep we quickly decided to grab a room at the pub instead. We ended up with a Poolside Villa. It proved to be basic, but clean, warm, dry and...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Phil and Marilyn Turner took over the iconic Marree Hotel in late October 2011 and is now barely recognisable as the hotel it was before. With classic outback service and world class hospitality, cold beer on tap, clean and comfortable rooms and a fantastic dinner menu, the Marree Hotel offers much more than you would expect in this remote area. The Marree Hotel is proud to boast 3 dining rooms, a cafe, campground, pool, hot showers, bar, en-suite/air-conditioned rooms, The 'Tom Kruse' / Back of Beyond collection, a stunning Lake Eyre mural, aboriginal art gallery and over 130 years of history. Situated at the branch of the iconic Birdsville and Oodnadatta tracks the hotel dominates the skyline for miles. ... more   less
