Detailed Reviews
This is our third stay here, and we'll keep coming back. The suites are spacious and comfortable and have everything you could need. The surrounds are charming and though the buildings are old, the renovations are modern but at the same time keeping with the character.
The breakfast provisions are by far the best I have come across! Bacon, eggs, mushrooms, tomatoes, baked beans and spaghetti, a full loaf of bread, several toast spreads, a variety of cereals, orange juice and even bikkies and chocolate bars for later.

I don't understand why there is not a 12-month waiting list to get accommodation at this amazing bed and breakfast. Honestly the photos do not do justice to how incredible this Bed and Breakfast is, and my fiancé and I are so excited as we have found an absolute gem of a place to host our wedding weekend.
The host is incredibly warm and inviting. The suites are a credit to his skills in retaining the heritage of Australiana in bygone years while providing the modern comforts we expect. The price is extremely reasonable considering the quality breakfast provisions and all amenities. So many little personal touches and thoughtful elements make this such an inviting place to stay and come back to over and over again. Thanks for an amazing stay, looking forward to getting back there.

This is the second time I've stayed at the B&B when visiting from UK and both times it was really comfortable and nice rooms. The room I stayed in this time has a new bathroom, which is nicely fitted out.
Owners are really friendly and helpful before and during teh stay.

+1
My wife and I stayed 2 nights in the Thomson Suite in December 2018 and I have to say we loved it. We were so pleased to have all of our needs taken care of by Gary & Leonie with the beautiful food provided for our use and clean accommodation inside and outside. On our 17 day South Australia and Victoria trip this accommodation was one of the highlights of our trip. We were so close to the main street of Gawler that we were able to walk a very short distance to hotels & restaurants. The Thomson Suite was very roomy with a pool table that added to our relaxation in this quite and beautiful place. Parking was right at the door along with free WiFi. My only small issue was the way the bed is positioned in the bedroom. It is rather tight to access on one side. Great base to explore Barossa Valley too. Thank you.

A quirky, historic home very close to shops and pubs. Room was large and bed super comfortable. A self contained room with all breakfast foods in the frig. Everything that was needed from choice of milk, yoghurt, fruit juice and cereals to eggs, bacon and bread so that breakfast could be eaten leisurely in your own time. Covered car space was close by.

I was lucky enough to just get a random jackpot. When I booked this property I had no idea what to expect and honestly would never have thought to stay in Gawler township. I'm so glad I did. Gawler is the gateway to both the Barossa valley and also Adelaide in general, and this historic B&B ticks all the boxes. Besides being central and officially in a town, it doesn't feel like it at all. Set on a large allotment on a quiet street, with trees and gardens and a variety of historic buildings, it feels more like staying in a country home (but with major stores, eateries, public swimming pools and the railway literally within a 3 minute walk). But wait til you step inside The Thompson Suite. After the warmest of welcomes by the hosts, being greeted as a friend instead of 'customer X' you will spend the next hour or so exploring your B&B. Boasting one double bedroom, with an extra single bed + trundle and I think one of the sofas was also a double bed, it can be booked for 2 or up to 6, and is quite large enough and comfortable enough for any of those. It has an actual real kitchen with a full sized fridge and antique cupboards, which opens onto to your own personal timber topped bar area (yep). There is a combustion fire, set out ready to light, with starter wood, bigger wood, firestarters and matches. Everything you could need is there at your fingertips. This faces onto your lounge/games room complete with period features and furniture, lots of comfortable seating, big wooden table, large TV, DVDs, childrens books and a large pool table, complete with cues and equipment. Follow me back down the hallway past old photographs and other period features, you will find a sideboard with a decanter of port and 2 glasses. Turn left to the bedroom, which is airconditioned, has electric blankets, and has its own mounted TV and another door to outside, then go back across the hallway into the bathroom area. Again you are hit by 'they thought of everything'. Need makeup pads, alkaseltza, forgot sanitary products, ran out of toilet paper? Got a headache and didn't pack panadol? Seam came undone and need a safety pin. All those things that are at your fingertips at home, but can be a real pain if you don't have them when away and need them at short notice. Oh and there is a small tube of toothpaste and a razor as well. Now follow me past the basin and toilet area, down this other hallway to the shower ROOM. Yep its a ROOM. And there is no ledge, it's wheelchair accessible (as is the front door) and also has a hand rail. Normal shower? No. Great big rainshower head, high enough for tall people to get under without banging your head or being a nuisance. Go to the end of this hallway, and you find yet another door. This door takes you into the historic courtyard where you will find lots of little table settings and one large one, a trickling fountain, all manner of historical paraphenalia, and a spa. How much better can it get? You go back into your cottage/house and start to open things and explore. More spare towels, blankets, pillows and all sorts. A stack of family games behind one end of the bar, suddenly the light hits a huge stained glass window and you look up, to find all manner of other things you hadn't yet noticed (insert wow at this point). You suddenly realise you haven't yet checked out breakfast supplies so head back into the kitchen. Snickers! hmmm. A whole loaf of very nice bread. A big pack of good bacon, large bowl of eggs, orange juice, litre of milk, massive bowl of butter pats (not doled out scroogelike but made to ensure you have enough) jams, honeys, vegemites, jug of cold water, large pack of fresh mushrooms, tomatoes. And that's just the fridge. Once you start exploring other cupboards you find the pantry. Cereals of all sorts, tin of baked beans or spaghetti, sardines, more wine glasses (some already chilling in fridge stored securely). The kitchen also has double sink, paper towels, toaster, egg cups, fry pans, saucepans, cutting boards, serving trays. Canestas of tea, coffee, sugars and a separate box of delicious specialty teas. In another sideboard you will find a plethora of cutlery, plates, bowls, utility items, along with spare tea towels, extra bin liners etc. It's a home. You will feel at home. You are invited by the hosts to feel at home. Discrete notes strategically placed remind you ever so nicely it's a non-smoking accommodation, or please feel free to use your barbecue on the front verandah to make breakfast (BBQ, gas, open it and find a clean BBQ with a roll of papertowls and matches), or a note to remind you of check out times (next to a decanter of port and glasses) a little note on the pillow about use of the single bed and trundle if not booked. Oh and business cards to call a taxi if you need one, a variety of local menus. And the warmest offer to ask about anything else you might need or like for your stay. If you are flying into Adelaide and spending some time in the region (fast train to/from city) or planning on doing some Barossa experiences, or simply want a few days break, I highly recommend this accommodation and I'm sure you will love it just as much as I did. A warm thank you to my hosts for a wonderful stay.

Lovely and quiet. Very private. Everything we needed was on hand including great breakfast supplies, and the room was very comfortable. Convenient location too. The owner was also helpful with info when we checked in.

We booked the Anvil suite for last Saturday night as we were going to "A day on the green" at Tununda and didn't want to drive all the way home late at night.
The suite was well furnished and very comfortable. Being new every thing was very clean and the bathroom had a lovely shower.
Breakfast provisions were ample and we would definitely stay there again.

It was great, the second time I have stayed here and that's because the first time was so. Wonderful, this time my husband came with me, he loved the Thompson suite in which we stayed, close to supermarkets and hotels for your dining in or out. BBQ supplied for your exclusive use, a pool table, balls and cues in the room for your use, the managers are very friendly, but not overly so, they have thought of everything and have all manner of breakfast and bathrooom supplies.
I would recommend it, and when I travel to Gawler again I will be booking here again.
