Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This was a return visit, which seems an annual event now. We absolutely love this place. The setting with all the vineyards around the property, plus it’s quiet location makes for a great “retreat “! Plus all the cellar doors…… Thank you, we will see you next year.

We stayed here in early February on our way to the Eyre Peninsula from Melbourne. An easy drive. We were delighted when we drove up to the house as it exceeded our expectations. A beautifully designed property with lots of thought to the layout. 4 good sized bedrooms at each corner of the house with a central living/dining/kitchen space. Added to this is a mezzanine area. Views to the vineyard and gently rolling lawns around the property, made it a pleasure each time we gazed outside. This coupled with the odd kangaroo hopping past! Breakfast provisions were generous. Lou, the Manager of the property, was delightful to deal with and was very helpful upon arrival and exit. There are bikes and helmets, if you feel inclined to ride to the numerous cellar doors close by! Lots of eating options too in and around Penola. Beds and bedding were excellent. We will be back for a longer stay next time!

We went for a quick weekend away and very pleased we stayed at Punters. This is a very large home and can accomodate many but there was just the 2 of us. Breakfast supplied was good, very clean home. We used the push bikes to make our way to a couple of wineries. Only recommendation is if you are going in winter take your winter warmers inc ugg boots as mornings and evenings were very cool.

We were there at the same time as, and with, the last reviewer (Jandjim1). We all remembered it from many years ago when the property was relatively new and everything was working well. Then, it was delightful! Fifteen years later - The wood stove fan wasn't working properly so there was little heat. The technician said the fan filters were choc-a-bloc with dirt. Even after he "cleaned" them, the result wasn't much better, so must agree with the next previous reviewer (willy89), in that it was very hard to keep the main room warm. The Aga stove had not been maintained. Apparently the valve to the pilot light (shut off for the technician to trace gas leaks etc.), was stuck shut with years of dirt. No pilot light, no heat! Again, have to agree with next previous reviewer (willy89); whilst the shower in our friends' bathroom at the end of the house seemed to be working fine, the one at the front left as you walk in was weak and very uneven out of the shower head. Compared to what we had enjoyed on two occasions previously, it was a disappointing experience! Won't be going back, cannot recommend to friends.

This property is in a peaceful rural location with very scenic views from the large windows and glass doors in every room. The breakfast provisions were generous. We were, however, disappointed with the general maintenance of the house. We have had two previous winter stays with no issues at all but this stay was marred by a distinctly under-performing wood heater and Aga gas oven resulting in an uncomfortable, icy stay. A tradesman attended and cleaned the heater filters resulting in just a marginal improvement. The upstairs heater was outdated, noisy, aesthetically damaged, and somewhat ineffective. The sliding doors did not ‘slide’. The sunny outdoor deck was not cleaned and the outdoor chairs had clearly been sat upon by birds. The property has many commendable features but routine maintenance needs to be improved.

We visited Punters as part of a four night getaway celebrating my husband's birthday. The house is lovely, the location breathtaking with views of vines, sheep and beautiful trees. Very well equipped with all you could need and more. Breakfast provisions were excellent and I enjoyed cooking with the Aga. Just a couple of negatives, we found it hard to keep the main body of the house warm as its very open plan with high ceilings, so the log fire was gorgeous but we had to sit very close to keep warm and the shower was poor for the standard of the house. We loved our stay and would definitely recommend it and would return. Thank you for a beautiful relaxing stay.

Amazing. Lovely. Beautiful. Impressive. Came for a couples weekend, although its a big house that can accommodate many, it was still bliss for just the 2 of us. Surrounded by vines & Aussie gum trees, on a very quiet dirt road, nothing around you so its very peaceful and private. Majella Winery is a couple of minutes walk down the road. Also located so close to many brilliant Coonawarra tasting rooms. The house is surrounded by glass windows and gives you views from your living rooms and bedrooms as far as the eye can see. Stunning well equipt kitchen, lovely outdoor area under red leaf vines, comfortable queen beds, nice shower, very well lit, air cons, fans, plenty of cupboard space, pot belly stove, good tv...the list goes on! Beautifully provided brekie with Beerenberg jams, vegemite, honey, eggs, bacon, mushies, tomato, lovely bread, butter, juice, milk and more! Nice big comfortable living room with big lounges, open air, just lovely. We will be back. Made our few days of wine tasting and exploring wonderful coming back to this each night. Impressive!!

We have just spent 4 days in Coonawarra, staying at the magnificent Punters Corner Vineyard Retreat. We four couples enjoyed the Long-weekend so much, we are planning a return visit. With it's 4 Bedroom, each with their own bathroom, was the perfect spot to enjoy the Coonawarra region. The accommodation was excellent, with it's fully equipped kitchen, lounge and dining area. Only 6km from Penola, a lovely town in the South East of South Australian. So many beautiful Wineries to enjoy. Try a Lunch at Hollick Winery (beautiful), you won't be disappointed. They don't come much better than this place. Enjoy the experience. Funguy_Di
