I've wanted to stay at this place since I first saw them more than 40 years ago, and now have had that chance. They are as I'd imagined; wonderful historic buildings that have been very well preserved. The thick walls make the place very quiet and the updates done a few years ago make them very comfortable - the beds in particular rank among the best I've experienced anywhere. Sadly though, the place needs a bit of love - it needs management who run it properly and actually care about what they do. I won't go into details, but sadly the other stories you read here about the service level are spot on. It could be far better - and frankly, the town needs it to be better. The price is probably fair for what it is and I would actually recommend trying it to soak up that historic value, but looking nice doesn't make things nice - you need good management and some real love for that.

Arriving at 7.30, after a day out in Clare with a group all in Hospitality( restaurant owner, vintners & international hotel exec) we were greeted in the most appalling manner by the sour lady at reception. Perhaps she had a bad day, but for the price charged, confirmed and deposited, to be told that the rooms had been resold, despite checking in within normal times & the attitude given was the worst I have experienced in over 40 years of travelling the world! The rooms themselves were basic, but adequate. Perhaps a touch of finesse wouldn't go amiss, but the reception attitude is an absolute reason not to visit again. A shame when so much better could have been done & I would be extolling their virtues

The accomation was nice. Being cold at night, a heater in the bathroom would have been appropriate. Our stay was soured by the woman who greeted us at the Caravan reception on arrival. We confirmed our 4 cabins via email 2 days before and she said it was 7pm and she had given our rooms to another booking. She even said she had tried calling us and emailed us to confirm we were coming all afternoon. We received no calls or emails. A blatant lie. It left the 8 of us who had travelled from Darwin feeling quite angry. Had there been other accomodation available, we would have cancelled and gone elsewhere.

Stayed two nights. Everything is there that we needed except maybe an open fire but you can't have everything! Clean, tidy, quiet and close to all facilities including a playground for four-year-old. Everyone happy.

Found this place by accident and so glad that we did. Comfort, clean and has a good vibe. Quiet and 200 Teresa from town. Felt privileged to be able to stay in a cottage that was used by Cornish mining families. Congratulations to the community of Burra for getting together to save and update a major part of the town’s history.
