We booked two nights in a superior mews room. After the first night we decided to move elsewhere, we didn’t expect a refund for the second night so didn’t try, the room and bed were very small and far from superior. The shower curtain was about a foot short and water went everywhere. The internet didn’t work and we felt the staff knew very well it didn’t. We could get an hour from the Tourist board hot spot close by. There was a certain charm to the rooms but it was not for us I’m afraid, we had no where in the room to sit but on the bed, it was too cool to be outside. We had nowhere for our cases - we are travelling for 6 weeks so had a bit of luggage. The restaurant and staff were fine, the food good pub grub. It cost us but we’re pleased to move elsewhere, it just wasn’t for

We stayed at the hotel on the 15th and 16th February 2019. I know it is a country pub accommodation but I would have liked a door on the bathroom! The room was small and basically clean but we both had issues with mosquitoes or something biting us. I had something run up my leg when I was on the bed but couldn't find it. The supplied insect spray was handy. Back to the bathroom, the shower dripped/leaked constantly making the area around the toilet unpleasantly wet - towels were dripping. We ate at the hotel on the 15th evening and the food was quite good. The staff are very nice but the rooms need a lot of TLC to make them a level one would recommend.

Dear Kuching Traveller. I am sorry to hear that your experience at the hotel was not to your expectation. As I cannot identify from your Reviewed name of Kuching Traveller 2019 which room you actually stayed in , and as we do not have any recording or records of any complaints from any guests who stayed in the hotel those nights (and the hotel was fully booked ) could you please give me a bit more information so that I can investigate your issues a little deeper. There are a couple of things of course outside of our control with Mosquitoes but it is hard to understand how big the problem was as all our windows in the hotel do have fly and insect protection screens and from time to time there will be a greater presence of Mosquitoes which we control (like all country hotel chains would do ) with Insect spray provided in your room free of charge. I cannot even start to imagine what you believe might have run up your leg whilst you sat on the bed .We have a fully accrediated pest control company who regularly ensure our rodent and spider program is right up to date and it was only the week before you arrived their inspection and treatment (where neccessary) had been carried out. Some years ago the hotel rooms were updated to include their own ensuites in each room .When these renovations were done a 3/4 wall was built to allow the privacy of shower and toilet use . This only applies to our Hotel rooms as the configuration of the rooms in our Muses (cottages) is different ,so doors could be hung in them to entirely close out the Shower and toilet from the sleeping room . I also cannot identify which shower you say dripped constantly and I have had my maitenance man inspect all rooms but he is not able to find the room you say has a leaking shower .Perhaps the tap was not closed off tightly .Sorry but I am just not sure until you can give me a bit more information. I am also very interested in getting more information on how your towels were dripping .They are always hung on the hangers provided in the bathroom and unless they have fallen on the floor at some stage of your stay it is very hard to understand how this could have happened . I would have much preferred that you had spoken to myself or my wife before you departed the hotel to express your dissapointment as it does make it very hard to fully investigate these matters which we take very seriously when it is just posted on Trip advisor after you leave .Please give me a call at the hotel as I would love to discuss the matter with you in person .Thank you Mick Guerin Publican Rising Sun Hotel Auburn

We booked a nights stay on the hotel's website. When checking my credit card statement following our stay I found that the accomodation had been charged twice to my card. I contacted the hotel by email explaining the situation and requesting the double charge to my credit card be fixed. I received an automatic response stating that a hotel employee will shortly get back to me. That's the only response I ever received from them. My complaint that my credit card was charged twice for a stay with them was ignored. I then pursued this wrongful use of my credit card with the card's issuer. I eventually had the wrongful, double charge recrdited to me. Interesting that when reading past reviews I'm not the only one this has happened to when booking this hotel online.

Dear Sir/Madam I would like to personally look into this matter as this is a most unusual situation . Could you please call myself at the hotel so I can get further information as I have no way of tracing the circumstances under your code name of ibeachbum. I cannot even find your date of stay as our hotel was full on and around the 17th November 2018.I am glad the matter was resolved to your satisfaction but I would like to investigate how this did happen and to put into play steps to ensure this never happens again. The other example you quoted is totally unrelated and concerns a Husband and Wife both paying the accomodation on different credit cards on different dates to two different employees with the left hand not knowing what the right hand was doing .The matter was quickly resolved to their complete satisfaction Thank you Mick Guerin Publican Rising Sun Hotel Auburn

We recently stayed here at the Rising Sun. Staff were friendly and the pub food in the evening was very good. The rooms out the back are part of the original history of the area. Very interesting to read about the history and glad that they have keep this very traditional and restored. Only one disappointment easily fixed. The bathroom is a little too historic, wooden toilet seat and cracks and peeling hand basin needs a little TLC. Otherwise Loved the old wooden doors, building and rooms - part of the building use to be stables. We didn't stay in the hotel building.

We stayed for a long weekend recently in Auburn walking distance to the Rising Sun Hotel. We did read previous reviews that where not very positive about the food but we thought we would give it a go. But despite the menu being very extensive and the hotel being very busy for a Saturday night our meals where very disappointing. I don't usually like to write poor reviews but we had eaten at the Watervale Hotel the previous night and really enjoyed there new Tapas menu it was a stark contrast to that meal. Our Thai fish cakes where soggy and lacked flavour and the lamb shanks where cold. Our table was in the hallway between the kitchen and dining room and was very dark and cold.

Booked this hotel online through Wotif and paid via credit card at the time at booking. The Rising Star disputed the fact that we paid, despite showing bank account records and the original receipt. We had to pay twice, but fortunately we were able to receive a refund through the online booking company after proving we had been double charged. According to the owners we had been scammed and they said this has happened to customers before. I would hate to know how many other people have been ripped off when booking this hotel in the past. Room was very basic for $130 a night. We were there on a hot night and air con wasn't working and the fan only had two speeds - super fast and barely spinning. The hotel was in a nice location and had a beautiful little garden area outside the

It has been a while since we visited this iconic pub restaurant. We were not disappointed. The service was friendly, our meals were seved in a timely manner and they were excellent. The menu had undergone a change for the better. All meals were hot & the servings were good value for money. The wine list was excellent as you would expect in this.part of the country. Overall I can really recommend The Rising Sun Hotel for a good meal & a great night out

Place was dark, dingy, dirty and overpriced. It sits right on a busy road to there is car noise all night. Rooms are badly maintained, broken lights and non-fitting room keys. Beds small and soft. Staff were extremely rude - I broke a lamp shade by mistake. I owned up to it and they decided to charge me AUD70 to replace the whole thing. When I told them I thought that was unreasonable but said I would pay anyway, I was called a rude name and then told that they didn’t want my money. In the end they were happy to take the money.

Dear Nick W Without prejudice I do clearly remember you and your family as you made your presence very well known for all the wrong reasons after you arrived here. You actually booked your own accomodation yourself and initially had yourself and you wife in one hotel room alongside your teenage son and teenage daughter in a share room which I must say is most unusual but it was your decision .You asked to be moved to another room and you were shown a number of options before you chose our Superior Executive room .This is our most sought after room and other guests love it as you indicated yourself when choosing it so for you to now say the things you say is quite dissapointing . My staff went well above their requirements to please you and again it dissapoints to hear you say the things about them that simply are not true .Without knowing how the lamp got broke I might suggest this could have happened after your quite loud discussion with your wife in the front bar which many customers commented on after you went back to your room and your wife moved to the front veranda of the hotel . Sir , whilst you did remind myself and my staff a number of times how you were English and held a very high position based in Singapore but the lesson I have learnt from all of this is to tell our customers that if they are going to go out on a full day Wine tour that they also consume a lot of water as this will help when they return back to the hotel .There is always two sides to a story

We visited for a Sunday lunch. Staff were friendly and helpful. The food was amazing, fish and chips special tasted like it was straight from the sea. The wine list is great, featuring many local Clare Valley wines by the glass or bottle. We will keep coming back here for meals, highly recommended.

Visiting the Clare valley to stock up on wine. Wanted a one stop place for the evening where we could relax and unwind with a few drinks and a meal, then walk to bed no driving. Jagged a beautiful breezy evening to sit out on the verandah and watch the world go by. Hosts were excellent, and very friendly. Drinks were cold, and food was perfect. Accommodation in Mews was rustic and basic(small),but very nice thanks to a modern AC unit. Everything we’d hoped for in our overnight stay. Relaxed, friendly front bar banter, and excellent food.
