Detailed Reviews
This motel has the largest offering of accommodation in town. It's reasonably priced and good value for money. The room was well appointed, with a bar fridge (no minibar), largish, clean bathroom, TV and heating. The hosts were also very friendly, though their credit card surcharge policy took some explaining. Located at the southern end of Auburn, it was a good stop before exploring the Clare Valley the following day. That said, everything in Auburn is within walking distance along the main street.

We had the most relaxing weekend stay at this Motel. The room we had (1) was very comfortable and the owners went out of their way to assist us with any needs we had. It is within walking distance to most other businesses in the town. I would highly recommend this Motel to anyone.

Good value for money motel. Comfortable bed. Massive bathroom, which makes it rather cold in winter. Room service breakfast was pretty ordinary. Restaurants in Auburn were fully booked, so we headed to Clare for dinner, where we had a bigger choice, and it wasn't too far away.

I'm mostly enjoying another mini, local adventure with the opportunity to spend some money in regional businesses doing it tough. It turns out not all proprietors warrant that consideration.
I booked to stay at the Shiraz Motel in Auburn and cycled in from Gawler late afternoon to be baled up in the forecourt by an aggressive bull terrier of some description with teeth bared, ears back, etc.
The manager was dealing with other customers in the forecourt but gave no acknowledgement to me and took no effort to call off the hound.
I eventually called out asking him to control his dog. He did not take that well. He marched over, said I had an attitude problem and (correctly assuming I had a booking) demanded that I leave!
According to the owner,, she's a friendly bitch. If I'd taken the trouble to pet her I would have discovered that.
My response that I don't attempt to pet or approach strange dogs didn't help our doomed relationship.
I cycled off to find alternative accommodation.
I say "Go to Hell!", Auburn Shiraz Motel.
(It seems I can't submit zero stars )

While the rooms are mostly what you would expect the one exception is the air conditioning control. Paid for the room and was then advised would have to get out of bed every 2 hours to press a wall button for the air conditioning to run. The temperature was 40 degrees.

Everything you could want. Friendly staff, clean and tidy, economical, safe, close to all Clare Valley points of interest. Mini bar prices very generous. We could not ask for better. We will definitely stay there again.

We stayed just one night, the room was very comfortable, and clean. You will not find better.
Owners very friendly, and cost is very reasonable.
It`s a pitty the Rising Sun Hotel (restaurant) does not operate to the same standard.
Cogwebs cafe well worth a visit. The town overall is interesting with lots of vinyards close by.

We thought this place was great value. It was very clean and tidy and a great place to book in to start your weekend riding the reisling trail. It is very simple but if you are out and about all day why spend more?

Last minute booking - at the Auburn Shiraz we enjoyed a clean, neat, spacious room. Great water pressure in the shower, a peaceful stay in walking distance to all local amenities.

It's a small motel in a nice country town. The room was clean and the bed was very comfortable. Bottled water is a good idea. Continental breakfast is available at the motel or a cooked breakfast at the roadhouse nearby.
