Loved our stay in the stable room, with its rustic French atmosphere. Lots of lovely touches and privacy.Great waking up to the sun peering through the wooden blinds and the quiet chorus of birds.
Our hosts were most friendly and helpful. A gorgeous looking cafe!

Our room was changed from room 3 to room 2 at the last minute, no problem. It was an anniversary weekend and I was pretty happy to just go along with it. Cottage room 2 was fine, clean, nice, perhaps not enough firewood, but we found it. Breakfast was great, owner was super friendly. Their was no milk in the room (no big deal). The biggest issue, which we were too embarrassed too mention was that because room 2 is one glass door away from the owner's room (she told us this), we unfortunately were kept awake by the extremely loud conversations she was having at midnight and then one am. As I said, an anniversary weekend, so we laughed it off, BUT.. she is the OWNER, surely she must know that this would ruin the romantic private retreat feel! DONT get room TWO... ever....

Stayed at Mellers B & B - the one with the little sitting room, it was so lovely, beautiful touches everywhere and so thoughtfully finished. Auburn is a lovely little town on the edge of the Clare Valley, definitely worth a stay. Rosemary is a very accomodating hostess and obviously loves the hospitality industry. I cannot fault this place and it offers real value for money. Her cafe next door offers lovely home cooked food. What a great part of South Australia!

This accommodation is in a lovely area and a great spot to base yourselves for day tripping. However it is never a 4 star property as stated in most ot the travel books/reviews. I think at some point it has been a very nice 4 star property but it has been let go in a big way. We arrive after midnight on Tuesday . By arrangement the key had been left out. We had travelled from Brisbane on a late flight so when we arrive we just wanted to go to bed. On wakeing the next morning it was clear that our room was filthy to the point that you would not walk on the floor without shoes on. There were millipedes everywhere on the walls ,floor in the bathroom the bed linen was ok one pillow slip still had lipstick on it - towels were clean The breakfast that had been left was stale and not edible. It soon became clear that there was no staff or manager on site during the week which left us in a diffcult spot. The owner/manager arrive on Friday but wasn't really concered with our problems. We checked out very dissapointed with our stay. and as for the "court yard gardens" are are none just weeds. The cafe was not in the best condition and I would not call it a "foodies delite"as discribe in some accommodation guides. With LOTS of TLC this would be a great place to stay.

We arrived at Cygnets on a cold , wet , windy day at 5.15 pm . The cafe was closed( despite open sign on the door ) .. We phoned the mobile number which rang out 3 times so eventually went to the Pub a few doors away, they were eventually able to contact the host of Cygnets who said the key to our room was in the room door. It then took us another 15 minutes to find the room . There is a total lack of signage ( certainly needed if there is no- one to show you to room on site)& the drive way into the car park looks like a private house .

Our room was clean but tired, the linen mismatched , plaster comming off the wall in one area, minimal tea/ coffee making facilities (2 green tea bags, 3 coffee sachets, lots of sugar for a 3 night stay), no water glasses , no spare loo paper, no information on how to obtain breakfast etc. There was no facility to make any requests of the management, except during cafeopenings hours ,
in fact we never spoke or saw anyone associated with Cygnets
Whilst we accept that it is a country B& B and do not expect 5 star hotel standards, the issues with the room & our arrival would not have seemed as significant if a little hospitality had been shown during our stay.

Great B&B attached to the cafe business in Auburn. Arrived before 3pm whilst the cafe was open and were warmly welcomed. Room we booked was not available due to staff & storm issues (totally understandable situation given the previous 24 hours in SA). Host was extremely generous with lunch as an apology for room not being available.
Alternative room was clean and air conditioned, with bathroom up 3 steps from bedroom. Comfortable bed and quiet room.
Lots of choices in the Clare Valley. This one is worth a look.

We stayed at Mellers over the Easter weekend to cycle the Riesling trail & see the Clare Valle. Rosemary our hostess was extremely helpful, thoughtful & friendly, even going to the effort to phone us before arrival to advise that there would not be many restaurant options available on Good Friday! Mellers is in a great location across the road from Cog-webs cycle hire & in-between Mellers cafe, The Rising Sun hotel & the best restaurant in Australia Terroir! We stayed in the Cottage suite which was beautifully furnished Parisian style. We found many personal touches such as fresh herb bunches, a lovely pottery egg gift, coffee bags etc. The king size bed was super comfortable and there were both heating & cooling options. There is quite a lot to see & do in the pretty town of Auburn, with lots of wineries & historical buildings not to mention the birthplace of C.J Dennis.

Stayed two nights in the transformed horse stable. Accommodation setting very tasteful and comfortable. I left an item in my room and Rosemary posted it back to me - free of charge! Right next door to the Mellers cafè which does excellent coffee and nice basic breakfast. Will visit again when we return.

We stayed one night in a wonderful old converted building in a town full of wonderful old buildings. The accommodation was excellent - very attractive and comfortable with an old-world atmosphere. Tastefully done. Very quiet. Owner was very welcoming.

My wife and I spent two nights in the converted stable at the rear of the property. It was quiet, spacious, well furnished and very comfortable. Breakfasts in the cafe were delicious. We took the advice of our hostess and had dinner on the first night at the Rising Sun Hotel, which was very good, and then splashed out on the second night by dining at Terroir, which is right next door to where we were staying. It is exceptional and not to be missed by any visitor to Auburn. The town itself is absolutely charming and full of history.
