Detailed Reviews
Terroir was a great place to stay, a nice little boutique with a sensational restaurant on site. The rooms were spacious with all that you could need, including a minibar and fridge, huge bathroom, and facilities to make breakfast, including a toaster, plates, bowls, cups, and tea/coffee facilities. There's even milk in the fridge.
The hosts were great and friendly, and the whole property has a homely feel. The rooms are behind the restaurant at the back of the property, and are nice and large, plus there's an outdoor area to enjoy if the weather is warm, where you can enjoy the beautiful gardens.
Breakfast is not included, so you can do it yourself, or walk to a nearby cafe to eat if you prefer. The place is walking distance to anything in Auburn, and a short drive to other places and wineries in the Clare Valley.
While here, definitely check out the restaurant, which focuses on farm-to-plate meals, and is spectacular!
I'd definitely stay here again! Very nice!

We were two couples so we booked both room 1 and 2 which worked out perfectly for us. The rooms are set up well with a generous sized bathroom and tea and coffee making facilities and crockery to enable self catering if preferred. Although it is so well located, it is a short walk to the hotel and other eateries, including the fabulous Auburn Terroir restaurant. There is an outdoor table and seat under the trees at the front of the cottage, which was an added bonus. Auburn is a lovely little village full of beautiful historic buildings, most with plaques giving interesting information, and a great spot to be based.

A top experience in the lovely Clare Valley town of Auburn.
The room lived up to its description and suited us well - roomy, clean, comfy and a good ensuite.
We went to enjoy the food and appreciated also staying at the same property as the restaurant.
The food is fresh and the menu varies every night, according to what is freshly available. The wine list and the service from the waiter are both commendable. A local said this is the best food being served in the Clare Valley.
Knowing that the tariff did not include breakfast, we were more than happy to have breakfast and top coffee a few paces away, at the Velvet and Willow.

I stayed at Terroir with my husband and found that it had everything we needed. It’s so quiet and the restaurant just down the path was perfect for a delightful meal after a long week at a work conference. The rooms are very modern with BRAND NEW fittings. The small fire place and very efficient reverse cycle air con ensured that we were nice and warm during a cold wintry night. The place was spotless, extremely clean and tidy. Food was also excellent. I highly recommend staying at one of their studios and having a meal at their lovely locadore.

We had a delightful time for 3 nights at this accommodation. It is stylishly decorated in an old renovated building off the main street of Auburn. Though our room was cozy it was still very comfortable. Loved the pot belly stove and spa bath.

We loved our stone studio room! We sure needed the pot belly stove and heating - Auburn was chilly!
Our bed was comfortable, shower hot and we had everything we needed. The room was nice and quiet, and we walked down through the garden to the restaurant for our evening meal.
There are tea/coffee making facilities and a small bar fridge but no breakfast. Bring your own or venture out.

Cute rooms, reasonably priced, great restaurant attached.
Auburn is a great historic town in the Clare Valley.
The restaurant and guest rooms are walking distance to the rail trail and some wineries
Highly recommended.

Booked for a single night, this is a small building divided into two homely cottage rooms each with and ensuite (Booked as cottage 1 or 2). The room while small was clean and well presented. Ensuite plumbing fittings are older modern but clean and in good order. Room would benefit from a small table to use for breakfast. No real complaints but probably $20 to $30 more than my estimate of price. Others at this price point are larger and offer breakfast. However if regularly booked, then this thought is debunked. Friendly managers whom I believe also run the restaurant which seemed quite popular.
