We recently enjoyed 3 nights at Amy’s 1 cottage, opting for the package including breakfast provisions and a bottle of wine.

Firstly, Auburn is a great location for a Clare Valley holiday - the southern gateway to the region, a lovely historic town and several excellent options for food, drink, coffee (Velvet and Willow with great coffee, and stunning garden), the Rising Sun for a meal or drink, Auburn Terroir; the Riesling Trail and an easy drive to nearby towns, wineries.

Amy’s House is in a quiet and tree lined street, a stroll to the main road, but a world away from the traffic.
Amy’s 1 is the 1 bedroom option, with a well equipped kitchenette, dine, lounge, single bedroom, modern bathroom. All very nicely kept and lots of thoughtful touches. Comfortable bed, heating/ cooling plus wood fire, spa bath, rain shower.
Books, movies, candles, outdoor setting, really lovely.

Breakfast provisions were great, milk, juice, yoghurt, muesli, eggs, bacon, bread, condiments. Excellent.

A really nice stay, recommended.

Good accommodation very clean and tidy. They have thought about and provided nearly everything.
We chose this place in particular for the fire. What was disappointing was that you are charged an extra $15 to use the fireplace which is not stated anywhere until you arrive. Also if you are going to charge $15 for wood provide kindling and smaller pieces of wood to get the fire started. I would suggest adjusting costs and including fire or clearly advertising fire not included.
Sorry about the negative feedback but it would of made things much easier if stated clearly.

Had a wonderful stay at Amy’s B&B. Delightful town Auburn in the Clare Valley. Amy’s accommodation was clean and tidy and well catered for with breakfast. Warm and cosy and very private. We will definitely come back.

Well positioned B&B, positioned amongst many others along the (dry) riverbed. This is the 3rd B&B we've rented in Auburn and while there is nothing serious wrong with it the others were better.
Very small kitchen. Not everything was cleaned well, a dirty towel from the previous renters was still in the bathroom, crockery not all clean but otherwise was ok.

Delightful cottage within short distance of Auburn Main Street let down by lack of attention to detail.
Arrived Xmas Eve to find empty bottles on kitchen floor, waste bin full (presumable from previous occupants) half eaten pasta in the fridge and half empty bottle of wine AND no bottle of the expected "wine on arrival"!!
The expected gourmet breakfast and remember this is a B and B, were disappointing. very little milk, expiry Xmas Day, one pat of butter for two breakfasts and much of the jams etc in short supply too.
Needs a fly screen door on the front door.
Nevertheless we enjoyed our stay with these niggles.

Not enough provisions - 8p stayed for 4 days in 4 bdrm house - Amy 3. They only provided bkfst food, ie eggs bacon bread & coffee for 1 day! When we rang them, they brought food for 1 more day! Also had only 2 toilet rolls, for 8p! Friend stayed in other house - Amy 1,told it was 5 mins walk, actually was 15 mins walk. There were no spare blankets or pillows, which were needed. Table only seated 6p. Kitchen lacking - no casserole, old scratched teflon frypan, not enough glasses/cups/plates, so we had to use dishwasher after every meal. Cheap cutlery, cupboards mostly empty. No extras in bathroom, eg shower cap. Too few towels, also had to ph for that. 2 music CDs's only. BBQ - tiny & very dirty was unusable. Outdoor setting with 4 chairs. Could have been so much nicer with a bit of thought. It is not a cheap stay either. Disappointed - will not stay here again.

Response from AmysHouse, Owner at Amy's House Bed & Breakfast
Responded 5 June 2012
It's sad to see this kind of review as it really gives a distorted picture. There were actually 6 paid guests booked to stay at the house and the breakfast/linen provisions provided were to cater for this number of guests. The other 2 guests were to stay at cottage 1 (and also left an average review) and they were provided with their own breakfast provisions. Provisions include bacon, eggs, yoghurt, bread, pancake mix, jams, cereals, coffee( both ground and instant), tea, milk, orange juice, biscuits, chocolates, bottle of wine (+ port at Amy's 1 and 2). Most guests comment on the generous amount and variety of provisions in our B&Bs so it's puzzling to see such a comment considering we provided further provisions to these guests upon their request. The property actually has 2 sets of outdoor settings making a total seating capacity of 10 so the statement about 4 chairs is also puzzling. Likewise the comments about toilet paper/pillows/blankets etc. All these items always provided and guests were advised where to find them. I guess it's inevetible that despite best efforts some guests are never fully satisfied. We always ask our guests to contact us immediately if they ever needed anything during their stay. We are always willing to help.

A lovely location..very accessible to the Rising Sun Hotel and the main street. And the manger a very sweet girl..who was obviously very busy managing a few B and B's..
A Cosy cottage..with a pot belly sove which meant the lounge room was warm for thw whole weekend

..but the beds were terrible..Really uncomfy..with polyester sheets and doona covers..meant we all had bad sleeps for the 3 nights..
Alos we had to defrost the fridge..cos the ice was so large the fridge door didnt shut..luckily it was so cold ..we could leave the milk outside!!

We stayed in "Amy's 1" for 2 nights & had a excellent time. It is a quiet area away from the main road, but a short walk to Pub, cafes and restaurant. The bathroom has just been updated (including a spa) and was spotless. A great spot on the verandah to enjoy a wine & nibbles. The bed was comfortable. We opted for no breakfast as we treated ourselves to breakfast at Skillogalee winery which was amazing! We will return.

The very first day we arived at the moden amys 3 we knew we would return, the 4 bed room is perfect for our family. All the small touches made it very special. Everything provided is to a very high standard. With a really big garden for our kids and to have a nice family BBQ. Auburn is an amazing little town with cafes, restaurants, bike hire, parks, friendly locals and it was quite! this is one of the bests b&b we have came upon

Thank you so much for this amzing time will be back very soon! :D
