It was a pleasure to have met you, and thank you for your Review, I'm always delighted to meet so many wonderful people and thrilled to know they've enjoyed my hand-carved polished furniture! This was a hobby that turned into 19 years doing something I can now share with my lovely guests.

The Marble Lodge in Angaston has two guestrooms hidden behind the main mansion. We stayed at the Magnolia Suite which in fact has a sitting room and a bedroom with an ensuite bathroom with shower. There is also the possibility to make use of the spa bath, which is shared between the two guestrooms, but we did no use that opportunity.
The guestrooms are decorated with antique memorablia from the many trips undertaken by Shirley, the lovely lady who manages the B&B. So it is obvious that a little care is appropriate to keep the rooms and furniture in good shape.
Breakfast is served in the main manor and is presented as a small buffet breakfast, essentially some toasts, cereals, croissants, yoghurt and fruits. Good enough to start of the day, but obviously it is not possible to serve a full fledged buffet breakfast which you can find at a large hotel.

I get to stay in a lot of hotel accommodation, and also a lot of bed and breakfast accommodation and if there is one thing that gripes me is the use of "fully hosted"... almost no bed and breakfast is hosted any more, but Marble Lodge is truly different.
This is a true "fully hosted bed and breakfast"... definitely not a pretender!
My wife and I had a fantastic stay, right from the first smiling welcome from Shirley the owner who greeted us like long lost friends. Her disarming nature made us feel right at home, even though we had just driven in off the street in our 4WD, and towing a caravan. (Yes, even caravan people want some true luxury every now and then!)
The expansive and manicured grounds provided an excellent spot to park our caravan, so we could explore the Barossa Valley without towing it everywhere, and Shirley could not have been more helpful, even guiding us in so that we could hook it up again easily when we left. (It wasn't until later that I discovered she had towed caravans for thousands of miles and lived in one for many years)
Shirley is a very very interesting woman, and her world travels are reflected in everything about Marble Lodge and the attention to detail in every way.
The full cooked breakfast (by candle light no less!) was just amazing... all from fresh locally grown and made ingredients (and it showed).
We were so appreciative of Shirley's suggestions of where to dine, and then driving us to the restaurant so we could enjoy some local wines! What service.
If you are visiting the Barossa, we cannot recommend highly enough for you to stop and meet our new friend at the wonderful Marble Lodge. Thankyou Shirley!

The wonderful couples who choose to stay with us at Marble Lodge is why - after all these years - I still love what I'm doing, I just love meeting so many amazing people! It is incredible how complete strangers one day, can become wonderful friends the next! Yes, we find we have lots of shared interests and enjoy one another's company over a candle-lit breakfast.

We thoroughly enjoyed our 3 night stay at this very well appointed B & B. Breakfasts were very good indeed, as were the stories of Shirley's many overseas travels. Angaston was a delightful little town and it was so convenient being able to walk to the very good restaurants in the evening. It was very well positioned for our visit to the Barossa. Thank you Shirley for all your helpful advice and hopefully we willl meet up again one day.

We have just returned from a wonderful two night stay at Marble Lodge. We stayed in the Camellia room and it was so spacious - and very cosy. The fireplace and reverse cycle heat/cool was excellent and the superb fit out of the furniture provided and linen was great. We had so many laughs at breakfast with Shirley who owns Marble Lodge - she is such a delight and very interesting. We could have talked to her for hours - and were made to feel very welcome. If you are looking for first class, clean accommodation with wonderful surroundings and in a great location - easy walk to the main street of Angaston - then this would definitely suit. Thank you Shirley for the chats, great breakfast and laughs - we will be back !!

We stopped here by chance after a wonderful time in the outback. We were dirty, in a filthy car and probably didn't look like great prospects. None of this deterred the lovely hostess who welcomed us into her self contained unit and encouraged us to feel at home. The room had a separate sitting room with a gas fire and an extremely comfortable bed with really high quality linen. The shower was wonderful with lots of hot water and really nice bathroom products. Good advice was given on dinner places and breakfast in the morning was excellent. Shirley is an incredibly well travelled person and it was interesting to hear her tales over breakfast. Superb place to stay - very luxurious but sill very homely. Would recommend to anyone.

It was such a thrill to have this delightful couple arrive on dark to stay. We shared many travel experiences! One of the greatest rewards for me is to share a coffee at breakfast, with my guests. Couples from many parts of the world have chosen to stay at Marble Lodge, and a couple of years later they email me saying they're coming back! We've enjoyed BBQs with them, and invited my wonderful neighbours to share it with us!

We stayed in the Carmellia room. We were greeted by Shirley the lovely host, shown to our room which we found to be most comfortable. The room was warm and ready for us on arrival. The bed was super comfy and was dressed in the highest of quality linen. The open fire was to die for. Room contained all the essential amenities required to make our stay perfect. Every thing was very clean. Located very close to all the shop and eateries but tucked away nicely seeming like you are all alone. Breakfast is in the homestead and of the highest , yummiest quality. Will defiantly recommend it to others. Thanks for a nice stay :-)

We appreciate your feedback, and are thrilled you enjoyed everything we have provided for our special guests. With many of our guests coming from overseas, and having travelled extensively overseas myself, they're often surprised to learn I have actually been to their homeland! Thank you for your comments, they're a great source of inspiration for the team here!

One of the nicest bed and breakfast's I have stayed in anywhere. Built of local marble, and matching the main residence in style, Marble Lodge is quiet, centrally located in the town of Angaston, offers every luxury you could want, and is very very romantic.
Just a stone's throw from the main street where you can find excellent eateries and shopping, Marble Lodge will always be my first choice when I stay in the Barossa Valley.
The owner, Shirley Rohrlach, is very entertaining and can give you the best info on what to see and do, tours, facilities, in fact everything 'Barossa'. She is a wealth of knowledge.
Had a fantastic stay for two nights. Very very classy.

Very charming period property with a host to match! Perched on a hilltop with great district views, we stayed at Marble Lodge over the Easter long weekend. Centrally located with just a 5 minute stroll into the Main Street of Angaston, this property is conveniently located yet very peaceful and serene. Our host Shirley is warm, friendly and a real character. Our suite was impeccably furnished, clean and warm with period charm and everything was thought of. Comfortable bed with pillow menu was icing on the cake. Breakfast was delicious with variety and made all the more interesting as Shirley is a great conversationalist with plenty of interesting stories to tell. Would thoroughly recommend to couples and families alike! We would definitely stay here again on a future return trip.

We showed up after a long drive to be greeted by our host, Shirley - full of energy and great stories. The property is a beautiful heritage B&B that has been tended to with much pride over the years. From her personally hand carved furniture to the exquisite museum quality heirlooms and the complete attention to detail, we thoroughly enjoyed our 3 night stay.
Shirley is an amazing individual who has traveled extensively and can finish most of your sentences describing travel adventures you have been on. She is an author, a photo journalist who could have easily worked for National Geographic. She is fun to visit with and you will leave enriched.
Can't remember the last time we had a candle lite breakfast - always left satisfied and ready to tackle the Barossa.

It was such a pleasure to meet and get to know Wal and Karen, and thank you for your glowing report on your 3 day stay at Marble Lodge. I keep saying, without the company of such wonderful people as you, I could be lonely, then bored, and I've no intention of being either! I'm sure you enjoyed immensely your day ride with bikes along the amazing cycle track towards Gawler, hired from just down the street, not to forget sharing Dinner with you by candlelight one night! I'm thrilled you enjoyed the Barossa hospitality, scenery and our amazing wines!
