Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We spent 6 nights here in early March. The location is ideal, one can walk to local places. The cottage is fitted out in older furniture etc which suits it. The kitchen was fully stocked and much appreciated. Lovely little area out the back but as it was the week of the very hot weather we did not spend too much time out there. Apart from being dark on entry and a slight problem with the hot water in the shower it was a great place to stay. I enjoyed our stay here very much.

Walnut Cottage is a good choice. Lydia goes overboard to make travellers' experience comfortable and memorable. Nearby are a worthy Thai (Barossa Thai) which, unbelievably, serves Trumer Beer, and a top coffee shop. Angaston is one of several closely-linked towns in the beautiful rolling hills of the Barossa Valley, so Walnut Cottage is central to Nuriootpa, Kapunda, Gawler and Tanunda. All services are within easy reach. If you don't know the Barossa Valley well, we would suggest Walnut Cottage as a base for exploring the Valley's considerable goodies.

We had a wonderful experience when we stayed at this beautiful heritage cottage at Angerston in the Barossa Valley. The owner went above and beyond to make our stay as memorable as possible. The added extras were so appreciated.

I've stayed in many heritage cottages in South Australia, Victoria and NSW, but I would have to say this is the most beautiful and comfortable ever. I am planning when we may be able to come back! The garden and cottage are beautiful, and in a quiet street but very easy walking to the restaurants and shops of Angaston. The beds are large and relaxing. The bathroom is huge and spotlessly clean. Everything you could want - and more - is there. Barossa wine, flowers, herbs, biscuits, fudge, breakfast supplies. We had a superb few days here. Thanks.

Wow! What a superb little cottage. Self contained with a lot of little personal touches to make your stay just that little bit more special. We especially loved having a tipple of port in front of the open fire and eating brekky in the farm kitchen. Sue and Ken obviously care about providing the best possible experience. Everything was impeccable and there wasn’t one thing we didn’t love about.

Great fully equipped cottage in the centre of Angaston. We were made to feel very comfortable and at home. They even provided port as a nightcap for your enjoyment. We would definitely recommend this cottage and Walnut Cottage (just across the road) run by the same people.

We stayed at Acorn Cottage for three nights while visiting wineries in the Barossa. The cottage is very roomy with two bedrooms, large kitchen, large lounge with open fireplace. We cooked a couple of nights and the kitchen is very well stocked and fitted out. The cottage is a great place for couples to relax while visiting wineries and being at Angaston it is little bit out of the humdrum of the main street of Tanunda but has the advantage of being within walking distance of coffee shops and restaurants in the town,

After our initial visit to Walnut Cottage a few years ago we could not wait to return. Our son has also had the pleasure of staying there several times also as have our Victorian friends. One cannot find anything derogatory to say about these cottages. Everything has been thought of ,and More ! Both cottages are charming, warm , have fresh flowers, wine (with tasting notes), home made biscuits. fudge, bread, lovely, comfortable beds and copious breakfast supplies; slabs of bacon, bowls of fresh eggs, home-grown tomatoes (sounds like something out of The Famous Five but it's true). We were there six days and there were five of us and we could not make a dent in it,despite having eggs and bacon for tea one night! The location puts you in walking distance of every-thing in Angaston and the hosts cannot do enough to make your visit a perfect one.Supplies, towels fresh home-made bread and fruit, every-thing was replenished regularly. We have travelled a lot both here and over-seas and love B&Bs with character and this one surpasses them all. Both lovely but we probably loved Acorn the best.

My wife & I have just spent three nights at Acorn Cottage and it was most enjoyable, a nice place to return to after a day touring. The cottage has been tastefully renonvated and offers everytihng you could need. The breakfast provisions are excellent and more than we could eat. The kitchen is very well stocked and has everything you need if you wish to cook or have a BBQ. Sue & Ken are very thoughtful and provide many treats, including slice to have with coffee, fudge with enjoy with a glass of Ken's port & other little pleasant surprizes. Acorn Cottage is just a short stroll from the main street and there are plenty of places to dine if you prefer to eat out.
