We booked some rooms at this popular hotel a week ahead, but my advise is to get in early as it is often fully booked. The tariff is high, but Thursday Island is an expensive place to service and to live. Reception and welcome is friendly, and the hotel is clean. there are all services available and a good breakfast...

Polite and attentive staff on the deck looking back toward the mainland! Oysters were enormous and fresh (see photo), tender chicken main on asparagus bed - faultless! Atmosphere is relaxing - this is real 'island time' !!! Be sure to check all meals on the menu are available - the remoteness doesn't always allow for supply - staff are more...

I've actually been to TI many times and rarely do I miss the opportunity to stop at the Grand. The people behind the bar are very friendly and the meals are all nicely prepared and tasty. Eating out in the alfresco area out the back rewards visitors with a nice view down towards the harbour. This is a nice hotel....

Clean hotel good food. Breakfast was outstanding. Pub meals cheap and beers cheap. Look it's pricy compared to mainland but had to be expected. Staff helpful and friendly with good stories about the area.

Work commitments were the reason I went to Thursday Island. The locals certainly know how to charge as there is a shortage of accomodation so they ask top dollar for substandard accomodation. I checked in, went to my room - NO window. Went to reception re this - ah sorry last room, can't help you. Do I need to say...

Enjoyed lunch here with a few mates; beer was cold and standard pub fare was fine and quick to be delivered. Open and breezy, it's a nice place to take time out in a hot day, and the outside seating has ocean views that are a nice accompaniment to any stop. XXXX Gold/Bitter/Summer, VB, Tooheys Dry/New, and James Squire 150...
