Detailed Reviews
We had a small family gathering on the Gold Coast and the Mantra Southport Sharks offered great value and a convenient location for this event. The rooms and service were very good even before we arrived at the hotel. The access to the Southport Sharks club for meals and a place to meet with others was an excellent outcome for the gathering. We also very much enjoyed the Aviary Roof-top Bar for smaller gatherings. A great location to access other sites bon the Gold Coast and hinterland.

We are having an extended stay here and it is the first time we have stayed at a Mantra property since they have been incorporated into the Accor group. We are long standing Accor members.
The decor in the rooms, hotel and club is very appealing which creates a modern ambience.
For us it is not when something occurs but how it is dealt with and whilst there were some teething issues in that regard we are happy to say they were resolved and so we are very happy with the outcome.
The new GM Courtney is a very gracious lady who works very hard and tries to be guest focus. With it being in a Club setting and involved with the Club (all meals are there so it is not a hotel set up) then it is really important the Club management support the Hotel management in every way to ensure success.
The cleanliness is excellent in the room etc and the lovely lady who cleans the room; Bernadette is outstanding - a great asset to the hotel. Also the ladies in the cafe for breakfast are amazing and very friendly.
Having complimentary and undercover parking is a huge bonus and the area offers very pleasant surroundings. Housekeeping have been very kind to us and all the Reception people, including Courtney have gone the extra mile to make our stay comfortable and enjoyable.
We have extended our stay so we look forward to posting further good reviews after those stays once we have completed them.
Thank you everyone and here's hoping that hospitality will take off now we are endeavouring to move forward with the Covid era! Wherever we go it is the team members who make or break our stay - the Team Members are certainly making our stay memorable in the best possible way!

Receptionist welcoming, management very unhelpful. I had accidentally booked my room through a site which I thought was the Mantra (I now know it wasn’t their site and the company I did book through has a 1 star review rating on Trip Advisor), who advertised in AUD but charged in USD resulting in the very simple room costing $430 for one night. On arrival I told the receptionist what had happened and she was apologetic and I asked if she had a phone number for the company who did the booking. She said she didn’t know but she would ask management who basically said there is nothing we can do because it’s been booked through a third party. I accepted this (although I feel that the hotel should have responsibility being that they are allowing these companies to make bookings on their behalf) and thanked her and said I would put in a dispute with my bank. As I was walking to my room I heard her chasing after me so I returned around and asked if everything was ok to which she replied, my manager heard you say that you were going to dispute it and if you are you need to pay for another room because if you put in a dispute we won’t get our money either. I clearly was not going to pay another $330 (the hotel’s direct rate) and was nervous that they would cancel my room and I would have nowhere to stay for the night so told her that I wouldn’t dispute it. I completely understand having to deal with the third party but when you can’t contact the third party surely the hotel has some responsibility to ensure that the people they are allowing to accept bookings on their behalf are doing the right thing by their customers.

Response from MantraSharks S, General Manager at Mantra Southport Sharks
Responded 22 Aug 2024
Good morning Deanne, Thank you for sharing your experience with us. I appreciate you taking the time to provide feedback, and I'm sorry to hear that your stay was affected by the booking process. I'm glad to hear that our receptionist provided a warm welcome and was empathetic to your situation. I understand how frustrating it can be when unexpected charges arise, especially when dealing with third-party booking sites. To clarify, our team aimed to provide guidance on how to address the issue with the third-party booking site. We suggested that disputing the charge through your bank could lead to a lengthy process, which is why we recommended reaching out to the booking company directly for a quicker resolution. Our intention was to help you avoid any additional inconvenience. However, I regret that this was not communicated more clearly, and I apologise if our response added to your concerns. While we strive to ensure that our guests have a seamless experience, we are limited in our ability to intervene when bookings are made through third-party sites, as we do not have control of their policies. We encourage our guests to book directly with us to avoid such issues, as this allows us to ensure that everything is handled smoothly from start to finish. I do understand that it can be challenging to navigate the various options available online, and I'm sorry that this resulted in a less-than-ideal situation for you. Please rest assured that your feedback has been shared with our team to improve our communication in the future. If you have any further concerns or if there's anything else we can assist with, please feel free to reach out to me directly. Thank you again for your understanding, and I hope we have the opportunity to welcome you back in the future under better circumstances. Kind regards, Courtney General Manager

Always a positive experience staying at the Southport sharks mantra. Good service , reasonable prices and quiet rooms. Good pricing and great entertainment available, the bane playing on the night (that retro band) played a wide selection of music which was great to hear.

I would stay here again. I wasn't a fan of the sink not being directly in the bathroom, but for a compact room they did well. I also would have appreciated breakfast starting at 6:30. I don't really enjoy having to eat in my room. It also felt like they were looking for extra money and savings wherever they could. It wasn't all that clear on the breakfast form what was included in the free breakfast and what was going to cost extra.

My employer has booked accommodation for me quite a few times this year and I dread the food for room service that much, this time I ate out for each Breakfast and dinner.
The issue us the menu for room service and most times my meals have been cold when they get to the room.
Thought I would go to their club for dinner, but their menu (not the buffet) was the same as room service - so no thanks.
I can not comment on their Buffet.
Nothing special about this place, including it's food.

We were checked in by a very helpful and cheerful gentleman, despite the late hour, and taken to a tidy and clean room. However, the room had a lingering smell that was quite unpleasant and stayed for the duration of our trip. We did read the sign that said our hotel room wouldn’t be cleaned on Jan 1st, however during our five day stay it was only cleaned once (on another day the toiletries were replenished) and we had to go to reception to ask for fresh towels. The walls are a bit thin, but not a major issue. There was also a fire alarm at half 5 on our first morning (granted this wasn’t the hotel’s fault) and the receptionist (the same gentleman who checked us in) got us back to our rooms as soon as possible.

My stay was brief but memorable, I was lucky enough to be upgraded which was a welcome surprise. I had Chocolates and water on arrival, I had an oversize vehicle with trailer which was able to be parked close by. The hotel is next to Sharks Leagues club. which honoured my drinks vouchers and I was able to get a meal. The staff at the hotel could not have been more helpful. A great place to stay.

A pleasant stay at the Sharks Mantra. The hotel had a newish feel, being clean and tidy. The room and bathroom were modern, quite spacious and well appointed.
We appreciated being next to the Sharks Club, enjoying their "all you could eat buffet" whilst watching the players practice. Membership is cheap and is easily repaid in the Members Discounts available.
