Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Don’t stay there if your life depended on it. Lots of antisocial people on streets nearby and urinating in front of you on the streets. It was very scary. Could not leave at night without feeling so very unsafe. Rooms are basic, clean and very very small. Watch the payments. They took a double payment from our account and despite asking them daily for a refund 6 days later it still has not been refunded. Have reported them to bank fraud but still not money yet to be seen. Will never return to this hotel. And if you want to keep your credit card safe I would suggest not going there.

No microwave in room, but with the decent price & cafe downstairs therefore cannot complain. It was with a safe so that made up for it? New style & very comfortable as it was clean & allowed to check-in earlier than two as the room was already cleaned -bonus!!

Stayed at the Woodroffe Hotel in Southport Qld for 2 nights. Was the executive King room. The room was very clean but very sparse. There was a bed, very comfortable, a small desk with chair, another chair and a very small table that was just big enough for the kettle. I thought there should have been a table and chairs to be able to sit and have a cuppa or dinner. A clothes rail was suspended from the wall. I am sure disabled bathrooms are good for people with a disability, but for me and my husband, this one just flooded the bathroom. A small vanity with no cupboards or drawers so everything was on the floor. The staff were very friendly and the cafe for breakfast was great. I would suggest that staying there is fine for a night, but not suitable for longer stays.

I stayed one night, while attending an event on the Gold Coast. My room was very comfortable and clean. Had a great night’s sleep. Very convenient to Main Beach. Good price. Friendly staff. Coffee and breakfast available on site. Minor negative is no undercover parking. Some slightly dodgy looking unit blocks in the street, but my car survived in the street.

Friendly staff and nice facilities. Room was clean and well maintained. It was handy to have onsite parking at reasonable cost. Comfortable bed and reasonable size bathroom. Close to light rail and walking distance to shops and eateries. Only short stroll to the Broadwater. Unfortunately room was not serviced daily as you would expect from a 4 star hotel. Very disappointing for a weekend stay. Breakfast was lovely, although limited as to selection due to being a coffee shop in the lobby. It was a little disconcerting to have a list of repair for damages to the room costs listed on page 2 of welcome guest information book!! Not very welcoming. I would question the cost cutting measures - a king size room only had one chair - so nowhere for second person to sit except bed, 3 pillows not 4 and plugging in kettle issues if you want a bedside light on. Ok stay, but not brilliant.

Pros - Great location - Tram station close to hotel - Surfers paradise is 10mins tram ride. - Close to shopping Centre Cons - Small room - Shower section has a semi screen but no door therefore the water overflows into the middle on the bathroom - no complimentary biscuits, only tea and coffee - aircon turns off every 3hrs, which was annoying in the middle of the night

Check in was easy as we had booked and paid online. Staff were friendly. Room was medium sized, bed comfortable, nice view out the window (we were on 6th floor) . Room has a bar fridge where we could store some fruit and cold drinks. The only recurring sound is the bouncing of the basketball at the courts across the road. And the usual traffic sounds but pretty quiet at night. Please note you need to climb about 10 steps to access the hotel, there is a small moving platform for wheelchairs and those with mobility issues. The only downside was that the glass shower screen is not a sliding screen, just a half screen which is fixed - so if a larger/taller person showers, you end up flooding the bathroom! Did appreciate the shower had a detachable shower head. We did not dine in the hotel
