We stayed 3nights in The Escape Shack. We were absolutely delighted with this unique style of open air accommodation. The presentation and cleanliness were top rated.
The peace and quiet was such a contrast to our busy hectic lives.
The views from the deck were amazing and the sunsets spectacular out over the inlet.
1770 has a local pub for afternoon drinks and dinner and great fish and chips at the marina. A short 7 min drive takes you to Agnes Water to a number of eateries, Foodworks and the best Gelato for an afternoon treat!!
We were so sad to leave this peaceful haven. The hosts are so welcoming and helpful with information and I commend them on the beauty they have created in this special hideaway.
If you want a quiet relaxing break this is for you.
Thank you.

What a fantastic place to simply chill and wind down. The "creek" is right across the road where you can swim, fish or simply lie in the sun. The villas are fully self contained, with all that you need for a great getaway. As long as you don't mind wood and I mean wood everywhere, then you will love the rustic feel of the place. Agnes Water is a short drive up the road for your groceries and limited shopping. The pub next door is ok but but the drinks and food at the marina, a short 15 minute walk away, are a better choice. With views north to Bustard Head, the lighthouse winking at night, sunsets that set the world on fire and great hosts in Jan and Dave, you will not be disappointed. We will be back.

I finally made it to 1770 and the Beach Shacks two years later than planned - my first attempt was scuppered by problems with my car.
The website for this property doesn’t convey its beauty. I stayed in the treehouse which is the smallest of the “shacks” arranged up the side of a hill. It is about 70 steps up from the lower street level, but there is also parking at the top of the hill with a gentle slope down and then only a few steps up to the door.
The view is spectacular including a sunset vista over the bay, though I recommend watching the sunset from beach level.
The shack contains a queen size bed with mosquito nets, two couches, a small table, a compact kitchen (microwave, two burner stove top, kettle, toaster but no oven and lots of cooking utensils) and a slightly cramped but perfectly adequate en suite with a shower, toilet and hand basin. There is a barbecue and another small table on the balcony. (Some of the bigger shacks have a hammock on their balcony, but not so for the Treehouse.)
There is a cafe near the bottom of the stairs which can be a bit noisy but it doesn’t stay open very late. Otherwise everything is very peaceful apart from the delighted squeal if children in the beach in the daytime or the gentle rumble of waves at night.
Definitely worth consideration for your visit to 1770 (the town, not the year!)

We only stayed one night which wasn’t enough, we will come back for longer. It’s in a great position, beautifully furnished and a really lovely place to wind down and relax.
It is right next to the hotel, which had only reopened that day, so I can’t say if there is any noise or not, for us it was very convenient to order dinner etc.
It really is a lovely beach house, open and airy, sitting relaxing on the balcony was lovely.

A last minute decision to get away from the world was rewarded by 5 nights in one of the most relaxing and comfortable accommodation we have ever experienced. I decided it could easily be my home. Wonderful location, excellent views over the bay and peace and quiet. We would have stayed longer if we hadn’t been required to return home for self isolation.

The perfect couple getaway. Jan and David are great hosts. The Shack is Balinese style and you really feel like you have disappeared from it all. So quiet and serene with beautiful trails to walk and fantastic sunsets on the water from your private balcony. We will be going back again and again.

Well, up to our fourth stay and we have now tried all of the beach shacks. Seveenteen Seventy still just as charming as ever, and nice to see the hotel bar still going and the restaurant working. The shacks are all nice, and each has its own charms and quirks. Our favourites were Tree House, smaller and right up the top of the hill, and Sunset down the bottom, very handy to the bar next door and still a great view. Everything you need to cook, and I always enjoy barbequing dinner on the veranda. Shoutout to Jan and Dave, still great hosts. Looking forward to our fifth stay.

My partner and I stayed overnight on the drive from Brissie to Airlie Beach. It's a beautiful stopover, quiet and peaceful with a great view of the sunset over the ocean. The cool ocean breeze and fresh air was invigorating, and there is a beach just across the road for relaxing in the sun. Service on arrival was warm and welcoming and the place was clean and well kept. Made use of the BBQ for dinner and enjoyed a steak and a wine on the balcony. 5/5, we will be back for a longer stay in the future.

We stayed 3 nights in the Beach House on the top level. Ideal for a couple. We spent a lot of time on the balcony overlooking the water and special sunsets . We were very look after by the owners who were very helpful and Jan drew a wonderful walking map for us.

Accommodation is perhaps amongst the best we have stayed in, due to its unique design. Perfect in every way - a king size bed would be the only improvement.
Planning our return already. Location was great, across the road from the water, and next to the pub. Serene and private. Sunsets from the balcony...Sensational!

Yes, they have separate bedrooms. Two in the one we stayed in.
All ways read the "terms and conditions" when booking. Most Hotels have a cancellation policy, be it none, 7 days or 48 hrs.
You cannot complain if it is within the agreed terms. Wake UP and get real!
