Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Have been here 6 months, and this family owned/run park is still our pick of the parks in Karumba. This is a huge park with big sites with lots of variety eg. Shade/sunny, drive through,powered/unpowered , slab/no slab. The amenities are kept very clean and there are plenty of washing machines at 6x $1 per load. You can get TV reception on your caravan antenna here unlike at The Point.Shops, pub and boat ramp are all within 200m of the park. Free WI-FI in the camp kitchen area.
The pool is cold, clean and refreshing. If there happens to be any uncontrollable debris, there is a scoop to remove it. You have to remember that when you’re in Outback Queensland (or travelling anywhere) there are things eg Corellas , Grasshoppers, Dust (water restrictions) and other things which are out of human control. We’ve loved spending time in Karumba and at this park where the family are working hard to make your stay an amazing one.

Great park with a great atmosphere. Close to town and only a 10 minute drive to The Point . Park has a great atmosphere , generous sites, (drive through available)clean amenities, and great owners who are doing lots to improve their park, including a new coffee van in the main camp kitchen area, with great coffee. While in Karumba, a sunset cruise , fishing charter, visit the Barramundi Centre, and dinner and sunset at The Sunset Tavern are all fantastic things to do

We just finished 3 weeks at Gulf Country Caravan Park and couldn’t have been happier. Large sites with a mixture of lovely shade and sun if you choose. Very friendly and helpful staff. A coffee van selling delicious coffee and treats. Well maintained grounds and a spotless pool to cool off in.
It’s close to a chemist shop, supermarket, cafe, butcher, petrol station, pub and more importantly an easy access concrete boat ramp with 2 x double ramps and a central pontoon. Sunset and fishing cruises leave from the ramp.
The Barramundi Centre/Information Centre is a short drive down the road.
The staff have done a fantastic job and there have been NO CORELLAS in our park at all after last year when they really loved the park’s trees. Peace has returned big time. Thankyou so much - we strongly recommend this park.

Spent 6 nights at this park with 2 other couples. Needs matainence and cleaning. Our friends had booked the units and we told we did not have to take a thing fully self contained. Arrived about 2 pm and had to wait for a mattress in 1 unit to be replaced as it was soiled with blood not a good start. Their toilet had not hern cleaned. The first night 3 of us had a cold bath. Could not see anyone around on Saturday arvi so my electrician husband topped up the empty hot water system. Air conditioners very noisy sounds like a train when the compressor cuts in. 1 very small saucepan no wine glasses or containers for salads etc no cutting board in 1 room frypans need throwing out only the sink to prepare a meal. OK for a night but not 6 Going back next March but will check out other places. Linda

We stayed her for 4 nights. Not as busy as the other parks in town, so we got great poweredsite for the tent in the corner of the park under a big shade tree. Walking distance to butcher, cafe, supermarket, bakery and the pub. Facilities a bit tired, but the staff were very friendly...and the quietness was great.

Response from Beck Tempany, General Manager at Gulf Country Caravan Park Karumba
Responded 20 Sept 2022
Hi Adrian Hine, After years of coming to our park you and your wife Pat were asked to leave for a reason. Your behaviour toward staff and guests was beyond disrespectful and will not be tolerated by myself and other owners. Police had to be involved after you were told to vacate our property because of your behaviour. Upon your departure we still gave you a refund for remaining nights, so it is disappointing to see you have continued your offensive behaviour by harassing our other customers after your departure and writing false information in your above review of our business. The reason why you "will never go back" to our park is because you were told to vacate our property and never return, much to the relief of many guests that were subject to your presence. I hope in future you treat staff of businesses and people in general with more respect than you have in the past. Regards, Glenn, Alicia and Beck Park owners

This huge caravan park has so many gorgeous spreading trees to shade you. The staff are EVER so helpful and couldn't do more to make our stay what we wanted. They arranged for the boys to go fishing (but didn't guarantee fish!) However there was a wonderful display of marine delicacies for us to choose from.

I came to Karumba for 1 night, stayed 3 before I had to move on again but the Gulf Country Caravan Park was EXCELLENT.
I travel a lot and don't really care if the facilities are 1 year old or 25...so long as there's plenty of hot water, they're clean and spacious to meet all the guests needs and at Gulf Country they met all my demands. The shaded pool was just heaven!
If I wanted luxury, I'd only go to capital city hotels.
Marty & Kel, the owners, were so friendly and full of great local knowledge. They bent over backwards , not just for me, but others I saw and met there too.
I'll stay here again anytime I'm back...and I do recommend it to you.

Friendly people, clean facilities, large sites also has a pool. After a check around Karumba definitely is the best park in town. Will come back, planned to stay 3 days stayed 5. The area is on the gulf lovely sunsets, great fishing but river and beach has crocodiles. Had the best prawns ever freshly cooked and beautiful.
