For my 80th birthday my partner and I decided to splash out on a "Beachfront Executive Suite" ($200.00 per night) at this wonderful motel. We stayed there for 4 nights in perfect comfort. Our room could only be described as "VAST". There was a full-sized refrigerator (bigger, in fact, than our one at home!), a table and setting for 4, a king bed and a single bed, lounge and outside private patio facing the ocean. I wouldn't call it a "waterfront" suite because the water was below us, and we were on the cliff at Karumba Point, next door to the celebrated (and always popular) Sunset Tavern, with a path connecting the two. On the patio we had three chairs and a li-lo. The motel has a guest laundry but be warned: it's available only after 2.00pm each day because until then it is used to launder the motel's own linen. Our patio wasn't what you'd call "private" because it looked directly at the BBQ and some tables/chairs belonging to The Anchorage Restaurant attached to the Motel itself! Nevertheless we totally enjoyed the space and the surprising quiet. We also enjoyed the rare luxury of being able to park our car wholly underneath the overhanging carport roofs. It was sheer joy to stay there once more!

We have just stayed in the end of fhe road motel in Karumba Qld for the last three days. It is the most beautiful spot and the motel is just absolutely wonderful. The manager Natasha is so lovely and friendly and goes out of her way to help you. We stayed here 4 years ago and had a two bedroom unit it was fabulous this time a queen studio also so so clean and big and roomy its a fabulous place to stay. We really don't want to leave. The beds are comfy . It has a lovely swimming pool which we used alot and a BBQ area and a wonderful restaurant. Paddy is the chef he is an incredible chef the food was divine.the pork belly to die for and the prawns and the squid everything was so delicious. He is so friendly and so helpful. The service is so good and Chloe she was at reception and the restaurant she was also so nice. This is a family business and just the best everything is spot on. The sunset pub next door is great to sit and watch the sunsets which are to die for. Thankyou Natash,Paddy and Chloe for making our stay so wonderful. Liz and Chris the cleaners are so helpful and do a wonderful job. Good value for money and best accommodation at Karumba Point we really recommend it is very safe and secure. Thankyou once again we hope to return sometime in the future.

Right at the point where the road north meets the Gulf of Carpentaria, the older style courtyard motel offers spacious rooms with air-con and ceiling fan, a table and four chairs. There is a sink and bench space at the back of the room with a microwave, kettle etc. Bathroom with walk-in shower is a good size. All clean and everything worked well.
The front of the motel has a pleasant outdoor seating area overlooking the gulf, and offering a superb view of sunset. We were served breakfast and dinner there as part of our tour package. Can’t comment on whether this is available to other guests.
There is a hotel next door, with the same outlook from its front garden, serving lunch and dinner.

We booked this Place months ago and wanted a self contained room. We did get this but the self contained aspect was rather disappointing. I get the feeling that they base their service on the fact that there is limited else on offer accommodation wise because most people appear to venture to this part of the world with motor homes or caravans.

It is true that the room itself was huge, but everything really was old/ dated, especially the A/C. And you should be aware you will be unable to alter your A/C because there is no remote. Not a bad idea really but would have liked to have know beforehand.

A big disappointment was late in the afternoon we wanted a drink. We wanted to have a drink around 5pm in the garden and the guy behind the counter said, sorry drinks only with meals. OK we said we will do that. Don't bother he replied, we are fully booked.....fully booked always. Loved the attitude.

The area itself looked like it needed a good clean down anyway.

Next door is a pub so we just spent our time there. Great food, great staff, great views. Just used to hotel for the room and spent our money elsewhere.

There is no doubt that the location was the best. Directly opposite the sea. with a stunning sunset on our last night. The lady at reception was very nice, it's a pity that the rest left us somewhat disappointed.

Couldnt get Wifi in room, only at Reception area.

We often stay here for a brief stint up in Karumba as a weekend get away.
The end of the road rooms are showing their age, however they are always clean and tidy and well equipped.
We stay in the single bedroom which is quiet and spacious.
You can walk easily to the tavern, to the onsite restaurant, or across the road to ashes.

I would stay again and again for a short stint.

We Stayed in the one bedroom unit
We have stayed here before and it is always very Beautiful.
the one bedroom unit was clean and spacious, there is plenty of parking, and the service was very very friendly.
there was milk for coffee and tea and a small very useable kitchenet,
there was a shower and toilet which was also nice and clean
the airconditioning worked well
The bed was comfy.

the locations is great being just next to the sunset tavern.
I used to book the rooms directly onto the beach, however I also very much enjoy the slightly quieter one bedroom units.
will stay again

This motel has spacious, clean and comfortable rooms, a refreshing swimming pool and is situated in a beautiful spot with access to the beach (no swimming though because of crocs), stunning Gulf sunsets and a pub next door. What more could you want. The in-house restaurant on the beachside provided the freshest and most delicious seafood and salads. It was excellent: top quality. The reception staff was particularly helpful when I ran out of milk for my tea and was very informative about the local nesting wedgetail eagle. The locusts unfortunately were in plague proportions and eating the palm branches, so they were looking very bare.

What I am told is a new addition to the motel is the Anchorage Bistro.
A Tapas themed restaurant behind the motel and open to the public.
We’d been told about this place but had trouble finding it as it’s tucked away behind the motel overlooking the Norman River heads and Sunset Point.
We ended up stumbling across it and sat down to have a relaxing drink and take in the awesome views.
We watched the staff cooking the meals on the BBQ behind the bar or in the Pizza oven and were impressed with the TLC they were taking, so we ordered a Greek Lamb Pizza for $22. It was amazing. After that we vowed to return for a main meal.
Today we did just that. And to say it was superb wouldn’t do it justice.
My wife ordered the ‘Mixed Grill’ which consisted of fresh local Barramundi, Moreton Bay Bugs and fresh local Tiger Prawns. A huge meal for $40.
I ordered the Rib Eye Steak with Creamy Garlic Prawns.
Both meals were cooked to perfection and were delivered by friendly happy staff.
The restaurant is all outdoor and the sunset views are spectacular.
I can’t recommend this spot highly enough. We will return.

We recently stayed at End of the Road in Karumba after it had been recommended. The rooms are very clean and spacious. There is also a kitchenette area with plenty of plates & cutlery.
Location is great with a seating area overlooking the Norman river and perfect for watching the setting sun.
There is also a cafe- restaurant.
Next door is the hotel & restaurant.
The manager is very pleasant and helpful.
Would definitely recommend.

We booked this Place already in January and I requested an endroom.
What did we get?
The second last room with views out of the sliding doors towards a brick wall.
The room was dark and we didnt enjoy our stay at all.

The room itself was huge, with a small kitchenette, but everything was old/ dated, especially the A/C. It also couldnt be adjusted and had no remote. It was set i believe on 23 degrees.
Although the dining chairs, table, daybed and Tv Cabinet looked kind of new

Bath Towels were thin and the tea towel smelled.

The Location was the Best. Directly opposite the Sea. Beautiful Sunsets at night.

We wanted to have a drink around 5pm in the garden and the girl behind the counter said, sorry Drinks only with meals. Come back around 5.30.
Couldnt believe this. They are missing out on an opportunity.

Staff was friendly, the Pool area looked clean....

Couldnt get Wifi in room, only at Reception area.
