Exploring Ipswich: A Business Trip with Surprises
During my recent 12-day business engagement in Ipswich, I was pleasantly surprised by the accommodations. My one-bedroom apartment offered a spacious layout, complete with a kitchen, lounge area, and separate bedroom. The addition of a washing machine and dryer was a thoughtful touch, making my stay more convenient.
Each day, I found myself unwinding by the inviting swimming pool—an excellent spot to relax after busy meetings. One of the unexpected perks was the secure parking, especially since it was complimentary. However, maneuvering a medium-sized vehicle into the tight parking space required a bit of skill.
The building had an older charm, but most rooms had been modernized and were clean. There were minor maintenance issues, like some light mold in the bathroom and a few cracked tiles on the balcony, but these were easy to overlook.
One downside was the housekeeping schedule; cleaning only occurred once a week, and I received just one packet of dishwashing and laundry supplies. This meant frequent trips to reception for fresh towels and sheets. It’s worth noting that the beds were comfortable and the air conditioning in both the bedroom and lounge made for cool, restful nights.
For a reasonable price, I enjoyed good accommodations and stunning views—just be sure to request a room on the opposite side of the train line to avoid potential noise. If you do end up on that side, the double-glazed windows help keep the sound at bay. Overall, my stay in Ipswich was enjoyable and exceeded my expectations!

Can't rate higher than an average. The apartment we had shared a foyer area with the next apartment. It smelt offensive.
The room is self contained but the apartments are really stingey with supplies. We had a four night stay and there was no room service so adding extra soap for bathroom and kitchen would have been helpful.
The kitchenette supplies were lacking. For two people in the one room, there was not two of everything. Very limited supplies. We asked for more, they never came. Room is OK and was clean with the exception of the foyer smell which remained unpleasant.
Check in OK - check out - lack lustre. No level of enquiry whether we enjoyed our stay.
Although a return to Ipswich is unlikely to be on the cards, doubt we would return. But Ipswich is not an epicentre of plenty, a place where restaurants close their kitchens at 7.30 and pubs close by 10. Guess you have to take what there is.

The apartment was clean but needed general maintenance. It overlooked the rail lines which were noisy during the night. Due to availability in the area the room rate was ridiculously high which made the apartment sub standard and poor value.

Staff were all friendly, professional and helpful with all questions i asked. My room was perfect for 1 person for 3 nights, it had everything I needed including a wash machine and dryer. Underground security carparking was great. The hotel is close 3 minutes walk to cafes and a 5 minute drive to the shopping centres.

Excellent service from Jodie upon entry into Reception right through to the day I left. Details and information regarding room/s, location, parking on entry and exit were explained clearly. Rooms were clean and tidy and were spacious, Fully kitted with all needed for an apartment with microwave, dishwasher, cooking utensils with cooktops. Very happy with all with my stay and upon return will stay at the same. Well done Jodie and thankyou for your 10/10 Service

We chose this venue to stay at on our wedding night to accomodate for less travel and it was just down the road from our wedding venue. The entire experience from pre booking, check in and check out was a flawlessly wonderful experience. The little things were not taken for granted e.g the lifts, parking and tag access throughout the building and cleanliness of the entire venue was wonderful. If I ever need to stay in Ipswich again, Oaks Ipswich Aspire suits is a must stay!

My girls and I stayed at these apartments for four nights. I booked this accommodation as their website said they were a 4 star serviced apartments. We arrive to find we had a room overlooking a busy intersection and train station, this kept us awake at night.
None of the remote controls worked for the TV and these were changed three times by staff, the remote controls numbers were worn off and this made it difficult and frustrating to use both TVs.
The balcony was dirty although we didn’t want to sit out there to watch the trains and traffic. After two days I required when our room would be serviced, I was told that it would be done on that day, when we arrived back that day I found the only service was a change of towels and soaps, the rubbish was left and no beds made. When I called reception to asked for our room to be fully serviced, I was advised this would happen the next day and the manager would call me back as I had advised we were not sleeping due to the train noise, both never happened. Kitchen utensils were minimal with only 4 glasses and one was broken. If you required fresh towels you needed to go to reception to get them.
For $300 a night I did expect more.
We saved hard for this little getaway and never pay this much per night so we we’re expecting a lot more. The staff were friendly considering what they are working with.

We stayed here for 8 nights and were really happy to finally leave.
Firstly, after reading reviews I phoned twice and requested that we have an apartment away from the train lines due to noise. Both times I was told it would not noted on the computer. Upon arrival guess were our apartment was? Right next to the train line. I can honestly say that we didn't sleep very much for the whole time we were there the noise is so loud.
The aircon in the bedroom didn't work properly, it would blow out a tiny bit of cold air and then the rest of the time it was just room temperature coming out of the vents. As there are no ceiling fans int he apartment I decided to ask reception if they had a pedestal fan we could put in the bedroom. Nope, So we ended up buying one ourselves. We also decided to sleep with the window open to get some fresh air circulating. The bedroom window didn't have a screen meaning when you open it (and it opened all the way) you could stick you head out or worse if you had a child they could jump out the window and we were on the 13th floor! I reported the window and the aircon to the lovely cleaner, I hope this is now fixed.
Good luck getting in and out of the shower. Its located in the bath with a glass patrician that doesn't move. There are no handles to help you get out so if you are 50 or over or someone who has back, knee or hip problems this will be a HUGE problem for you,
The cutlery and utensils in the kitchen area are in desperate need of an update, all were very old and worn. The dryer above the washing machine works on and off. It took a whole day to dry our clothes.
Parking, OMG. When you arrive you are allocated a parking spot which is fine but, every single time we went out someone else parked in our spot. We had to phone reception to get another spot only to find out that each time it was a staff member who taking our spots. In the end we just parked in a vacant hotel spot (some are reserved for tenants),
On the positive side, the bed was comfortable.

Response from Oaks Aspire, General Manager at Oaks Ipswich Aspire Suites
Responded 13 May 2021
Hi mishmosh007, Thank you for taking the time to review your stay at Oaks Ipswich Aspire Suites. I sincerely apologise that your stay with us got off to a bad start and we haven’t met your expectations in a number of areas. This is most definitely not exemplary of a stay at Oaks Ipswich Aspire Suites. It is disappointing to read that we were not able to meet the high standard that we have set for ourselves to make our guest’s holiday a memorable one. Also, we are very sorry that on some occasions during your stay you experienced a service that was below our standards. You may rest assured that we continuously introduce corrective and preventative measures through our extensive and on-going training programmes based on our guests’ feedback. To directly address your complaints, I would like to start with you request for a quiet room. While we do endeavor to meet each and everyone of our guest’s requests, unfortunately, as we are situated right next to a train line, train noise does affect the building and its near impossible to guarantee this will not affect your stay. Nonetheless, you we arranged for you to stay in one of our quietest rooms, being our highest floor and facing West Street. It is standard for our one-bedroom apartments to not have any fans in the room. I completely understand that this is something you may not be accustomed to, but it is the standard practice across most apartment buildings with aircon units in all living spaces (bedroom and living room), as the aircon unit does have a fan setting. We have had our aircon technicians out since your stay, and they have advised that the aircon unit in the room is working fine, so I cannot entirely address what the problem might have been during your stay. Regarding the shower and bath combination, I will be honest, it is not the most desirable set up. However, it is the original design of the building and is the standard set up for all those one-bedroom apartment room styles. I have passed you feedback on to the building management, to come up with an action plan to assist with those who may struggle to get into the shower. We have recently changed to allocated car parking, and we are in the very new teething stages of becoming accustomed to our new system. I appreciate your understanding and patience during what would have been a very frustrating situation. We will use your feedback as a training tool and use the incidents you have highlighted to ensure we continuously improve our guest experiences. With the correct support I am confident that the shortfalls you experienced on this occasion will not be repeated in future. I do hope that you will join us for another stay and experience the service offering that you expected when choosing Oaks Ipswich Aspire Suites. We do appreciate that traveling these days can be complicated and for some stressful, and that makes the fact that you have come to see us all the more delightful. Until the next time. Sincerely, Chloe Cullen Front Office Supervisor Oaks Ipswich Aspire Suites

If the title of this review wasnt clear enough than rest assured the cleanliness sure will make you run for the hills..from dirty sheets to streaky towels along with dirty underwear being left in the laundry that was mouldy and streaked with faecal matter to aircon filled with the thickest dust buildup youll ever see!
You’ll also have some lovely used tissues underneath your bed to keep you company throughout your stay😃
And if that wasnt the icing on the cake for you than the support from management will surely be the top tier of your stay.
Don’t forget you’re also next to noisy trains at all times..
Other than that.. At least theres a pool right?

Response from Oaks Aspire, General Manager at Oaks Ipswich Aspire Suites
Responded 16 Jan 2023
Dear NotAnon, Thankyou for taking the time to write your review of your stay. I understand that you had some issues during your stay with us, but am still surprised by your comments, whilst I was in the room with you and during our conversation the next day you did not state that you were frustrated or unsatisfied. I am sorry that you were still left feeling this way after the reception team and myself helped you out to the best that we could at that time. I did apologise at the time and stated that it was unacceptable for items left in the washing machine from the previous guest, and that this is not the standard that we should be adhering to. I was not aware of any issues you had with the linen, but please be assured that they would not have been dirty, we do use a linen company who provide us with the clean linen every day and have processes in place if staff were to find any marked linen amongst this. Again, I am sorry that you had problems during your stay, but do wish you had spoken with me about your level of satisfaction whilst you were here. Kind Regards Debbie Hooper Hotel Manager

From management to reception and housekeeping services, I have felt like it was home from the first day. 3 months stay in a 2 bedroom apartment was an unbeatable price. Facilities, amenities and services included were absolutely amazing. Secure parking and safety first. Only have one complaint and that is I didn't want to leave.
