Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Best food we’ve had in aussie! Great selection, great quality, very quick service, reasonably priced, good settings, nice staff etc etc.
Only complaint would be no stone n wood beer but hey you can’t have it all.
Would highly recommend this place!

The Grand is a good old fashioned pub in the lovely town of Esk. Right on the main street, it has a small dining room and a couple of bar areas. The bar has a reasonable range of wines by the glass or bottle. The menu is what you would expect - steaks, schnitzels, burgers etc.- and everything was fresh and cooked to order. Service was fast and friendly, and we did not feel rushed even though we arrived pretty close to kitchen closing time. Pete the Plumber moonlights here as a musician but sadly we missed him!

The Grand Hotel Esk doesn't nave any fancy "shop front" or street front that makes it stand out from other pubs etc, however what counts is inside. While there is a traditional front bar with ice cold beer etc, this pub focusses on making the dining area, including a big sheltered outdoor deck, family friendly with some excellent food at old style pub prices and service. Also unusual for small Qld country town pubs, the Grand has a really good wine list, with the wines stored in temperature controlled cabinets, catering for those who are bored with cold beer or rum and coke ... the usual fare of Qld country pubs.

Stayed here in the new year, awesome location and venue, friendly staff, great food and cold beers. Accommodation was well priced. Bathrooms were clean. Rooms were clean and air conditioned with fridge and tv, but unfortunately beds and pillows were atrocious, maybe the owner should spend a night sleeping on one of his single beds, before he makes anyone else go through the ordeal of spending a night there. 3/5 dropping the 2 based purely on the bedding situation and no parking for bikes to park.

Thank you Biker Review. Sounds like a great review except for bedding and parking. Bedding single bed at $35 each may not be the Hilton but certainly above average. I don't understand the parking comment as we have plenty of parking out the back of the property on cement for motor bikes and in the container for push bikes. Kind Regards Joe

We stayed here for one night when it was very cold. Room had a quiet split system to warm us, an extremely comfortable bed, washbasin, close to toilets and bathroom. Good eating. Manager went out of his way to welcome us and help secure and charge our bikes. Very good price and excellent comfort and cleanliness. Would always come back.

Eaten here a few times but this was my first overnight stay while cycling the BVRT. Checking in is quick and efficient, all the staff in this place are excellent! Rooms are all upstairs as is the case with most of these old pubs. We could have locked our bikes up downstairs but were given the much appreciated option to take them into our rooms. It's a bit of a climb up the stairs but no big deal. Rooms are great, TV, fridge, sink and very clean. Communal amenities are also very clean and functional.
We ate dinner in the hotel which has a surprisingly extensive menu. I think most people will find something to fit their taste and budget here.
Being in the middle of town, it is surrounded by cafes, so we were spoilt for choice with breakfast.
Down sides, very few. One that bugged me a little bit was a refrigeration unit outside our window that was cycling off-on a lot through the night, quite noisy.
Overall, this is the best place to stay and eat in Esk if you are cycling.

Went to pub for lunch on Sunday arvie and the girl at the counter was quite rude and non interested when I asked about ordering the steak sandwich or burger without the bacon and egg. As the steak sandwich was already $22 which is quite pricey on start with her attitude when she answered my question was like yeh we can take off the bacon and egg but the price is the same, I said to my husband, let’s go up the road to the other pub, which in the end worked out best for us with an amazing $17 steak burger that was to die for. So was a good decision in the end. Needless to say I won’t be in a hurry to return to this place based on the service alone. Also based on the owners/managers response to my other review on Google. Places should take into account constructive criticism if they wish to gain more local customers who regularly visit the area, and also as good business practice to listen to honest feedback from customers.

We have been staying at The EskGrand Hotel for 4 years now.
Every time we stay we have a wonderful time due to Jo & his wonderful team. We are made to feel so welcome the minute we arrive by happy greetings & friendly staff.
Nicki & Rachelle do a wonderful job at the bar & are always happy.
The rooms are immaculately cleaned with 5 star linen & air conditioning. The beds & pillows are very comfortable & there is a bar fridge in every room.
The bathrooms & toilets are always clean & there are thick white towels which are of high quality.
Every meal we have had has been totally delicious & high quality. There are homemade deserts to choose from too.
The beer garden is warm in winter with huge heaters & a cool breeze comes through in March when it was over 30*.
There is also air conditioning in the main dining too.
Kids & dogs are totally welcome.
This hotel is a wonderful friendly place to stay in Esk.
Always stay in Esk for 2 nights, it is a lovely friendly town.
Thanks to the awesome Hotel Team.

Ordered two of the Saturday Special meals, entree and desert, all up $108 for the worst food that I have had in a long time. The 300g Jack's Creek Sirloin, price $46, somehow it was cooked but cold, makes me think that it had been pre cooked and quickly put on the grill, had a strange smell and taste also, all other aspects of this meal were also cold, the pommes latkes was almost solidified on the inside . The Sichuan Crusted Pan Seared Tuna Steak was so heavily seasoned that it was unpleasant, it also didn't come with the potato puffs, just the pak choy, which was the best part of this meal. The cheesecake was served up with iceream that wasn't even supermarket quality, so dissapointed and would never evr go back.

For the last 12 months our steak menu consists of Jack's Creek Rib Fillet (Marble Score 3+), Jack's Creek Sirloin MB6+ and Stanbroke Rump MB8/9. Jack's Creek was named world's best steak in 2015, 2016 and Best Fillet in 2017. It, and Stanbroke, are the reason why we buy top end premium steaks as the feedback has been awesome. We go to the effort to buy this as it is not available locally. We also make our own desserts and have done so for the last 4 years. Again the feedback is awesome which is why we do it. Kind Regards Joe

Such a wonderful night. Thank you to the very attentive owners and wait staff. I cannot fault a single element. The children’s meals were of the highest quality and the steaks were cooked to perfection - it was quality beef. Children ordered fish and chips and a pizza and it was fresh (not packaged) fish and the pizza was delicious. We were so very impressed! I cannot recommend this place highly enough! Exceptional from start to finish!
Thank you for spoiling us and making hubby’s bday special! We thought our night couldn’t get any better but then hubby won a 6 pack and a meat tray to finish our night off.
Meals came quickly and efficiently - flawless!
We did book ahead and we are pleased that we did because clearly we are not the only ones to realise this place is fantastic! The cakes and sweets looked delicious but we did not sample these this time! We will be back
