We stayed in the apartment about 5 minutes walk from the main hostel. The location, it was 2 minutes max to the beach, not many more positive things to say. The unit was large with upstairs and downstairs & shower was nice.
The apartment has NO aircon, none of the fans we were given worked! We requested some working fans, and we're given ONE between the whole 2 bedroom house.
Upon arrival there was no toilet roll, and the kitchen light was broken, we had to cook in the dark. There was also no wifi. Overall the accommodation was subpar.

Basic room with a shared bathroom but we loved having the balcony overlooking the pool. The kitchen was clean and well-equipped and as there were two separate kitchens there was always space to cook. There are also coin operated washing facilities along with two big washing lines. We enjoyed our stay here as there was a very relaxed chilled atmosphere. The beach and shops etc are only a 5 minute walk away so a very good location!

Denny was our tour guide and he was such a cool chill guy that was so knowledgable and helpful! Loved how it started so early so we made full use of the time on Fraser. The food was absolutely delicious & a different menu each day, but make sure to bring your own snacks if you need them as the stores are very expensive. The campsite was well kitted and we were close to the toilets and hot showers which are apparently very rare on Fraser! We saw everything there is to see on the island and I felt it was definitely a worthwhile experience!

First impressions were good, me and a friend got a private room and it seemed to be clean. It wasn’t until we got into bed at night we realised our room was infested with bed bugs. We killed several throughout the night but the problem did not subside.
Also the reception staff failed to mention that if you required plates, bowls or cutlery of any description you had to put a deposit down to borrow. Therefore when we came to cook our dinner, we realised we didn’t have any plates, cutlery etc. To add to this, reception had closed at 7pm and therefore we were unable to even cook.
0/10 would not recommend.

Hi, Thanks for your review, sometime things happen in Hostels that are beyond our control! I was first aware of this problem when you called at 10pm to let me know. The only way bed bugs come into the Hostel is thru other Traveller’s luggage. I immediately sourced another room for you to stay in, and the following day you received a full refund for your accommodation for the night. we have since had the room professionally cleaned and sprayed as well as replacing the curtains and all other items in the room. The dish sets are usually given out when you checkin and no additional deposit is required for these, surely if you were in desperate need another guest would have let you borrow theirs. I hope you enjoy the rest of your travels in Australia. Regards Kristy.

Had to have a freezing cold shower- there were signs up in the hostel to state that a choice had to be made between hot water and air con and they chose air con. There was hot water in another building, but the queues for the showers were huge. Having hot water in the next building is not helpful for washing hands/kitchen etc.

Then had a knock on the door at 8:30am to say there would be no power from 9am. Unable to use plug sockets, kitchen facilities etc.

Hot water and electricity are two basics I would expect when paying 100 dollars for 1 night stay. Hostel were extremely unhelpful when contacted about this.

We did the 2 nights 3 day Fraser Island tour, staying at the hostel the night before and the night after. While Fraser Island is absolutely beautiful and definitely not to be missed this tour was a huge disappointment. Our tour guide was rude and disinterested, swearing non-stop - including swearing at people on the trip when they got into difficulty driving the 4WD. Overall it took a lot of the fun out of the driving and trip on the whole, and was pretty offensive. The accommodation is fine but the food is very basic and the guide disappears when at the campsite - overall we were really disappointed with the experience.

Hi Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review. We sincerely apologise for the behaviour that you experienced from one of our Tour Guides. This is not our standard and all our Tour Guides are trained to conduct a professional but fun manner to ensure that you have a memorable experience on Fraser Island. Our Tour Guides are also not required to be with you the entire time at our Campsite, once dinner is served the rest of the night is your own leisure time and we encourage our Guides to get a good nights rest so that they can give you the best experience through out your Fraser Island Tour. It is also our Guides responsibility to ensure that everyone drives safely to prevent any injuries or accidents and their intentions are not to offend anyone but ensure everyone is driving safely. Once again we apologise for the experience you had but we do hope that you enjoyed the beauty that Fraser Island had to offer you.

The staff were friendly and helpful. They directed my family down to their beach side apartments. (so good so far) we arrive the place is neat and close to the beach which is nice if you like swimming at the beach. (me not so much) the sea breeze is nice and cool which is a good thing seeing there is no aircon. (wouldn't want to stay here in a heat wave!) you get a tiny tiny TV and the batteries in the remote where dead! so the pool and other facilities are about a kilometre away back at the hostel which close fairly early. I imagine a website called uncomfyAFmattresses.com I've slept in ditches more comfortable than the bed provided. No sleep so I'm writing this review at 4 in the morning and can't wait to leave! All in all the full backpacker experience was not for me and I'd of rather have slept in a tent on the side of the road!

Hi Godzilla, Thanks for your review. We offer budget accommodation with ceiling fans only for $140 per night which is clearly advertised at the time of booking, and yes there is no swimming pool here which is also not listed on any booking site. Being by the ocean the units get a great sea breeze at night and the bedrooms all have fans in them. We have since replaced this tv with a larger one as the remote had been broken by a previous guest. I’m not sure which room you slept in but all of the Queen beds are relatively new, and if it was a single bed you will be happy to know we are just replacing these mattresses at the moment. The previous mattresses were great for hygienic reasons as could be cleaned thoroughly between guests but we’re quite noisy to sleep on, my children have slept in these and also complained they are a little uncomfortable too, which is why we have replaced them. Overall for $140 for the night I think that they are great value if you just need overnight accommodation and if I had the choice between the side of the road in a tent or one of these units I would definitely chose one of the units! Regards Kristy.

Pippies 3 Day Fraser Island Tour was fantastic. Great guide, felt safe with the 4WDs, had great fun, spend good amount of time at all the places, were free to do what we wanted in the evenings, food well organised, great atmosphere.

Didn't sleep at Pippies Beachhouse before and after but at Freedom hostel right next door instead.

Do not stay here. You could not pay me to come back here. There are cockroaches in the rooms and the bathroom facilities are inadequate. Currently writing this as I can’t sleep due to the roaches in here. If you need to stay at rainbow beach before Fraser Island just book an apartment as you won’t sleep well here.
