Detailed Reviews
We spent a night at the Lodge after a flight to visit the Tip.
We were met at Bamaga airport by an immaculate 4WD and a fresh cut lunch provided by the Lodge. At the Tip, both our pilot and driver ensured all of us reached the famous sign.
Back at the Lodge, the air conditioning was on and we found the room to be very clean, well appointed and quality teas and coffee supplied.
Dinner that night was from and extensive menu and absolutely delicious (with wine available to purchase). Breakfast the next morning included fresh fruit and an extensive cooked or continental breakfast was on offer.
The grounds of the lodge are well maintained and lovely to walk around and there is a pool to cool off in.
The staff were friendly and helpful. Thank you for a lovely stay.

We had a very comfortable stay at the Lodge. The swimming pool was delightful and the environment very peaceful and lush. We first booked our accommodation and two tours at the end of May. Then we received two phone calls in October advising us that no guide was available on Sunday so we were offered the use of a complimentary car for Saturday and Sunday. That way we could drive ourselves up to the Tip on Sunday. However, on arrival on the Friday night the staff member encouraged us to take the car straight away because suddenly the restaurant was closed for a private function. We had been advised that we would need the car to get dinner locally. We were also offered a packed lunch for the Sunday but we soon discovered that reception was closed all day so we would have to organise that ourselves.
Imagine our surprise when we were charged $299 because we agreed to accept the car on Friday night!
This is the first time that I have written a negative review but other unsuspecting guests need to be warned.

Stayed for two nights but were a bit concerned on checkin as the ordered room wasn’t what we requested, even though I booked three months in advance. Luckily a twin ensuite room was available and we were moved to it. Probably best to make the reservation by email rather than phone.
The final room was excellent with comfortable beds and we slept well. The area was very quiet with no noise from adjacent rooms or outside. Small balcony was pleasant at the end of the day.

Over rated, passengers treated as if they didn't matter, take it or leave it attitude by some staff members. Food dreadful on second night, fish was still frozen in the middle with water running out of it, uneatable. Breakfast was a joke, told a time to come after 2 other groups, almost nothing left, told that's all there is by staff, didn't give a hoot, just wanted to clean up and get out of there. Would not recommend to anyone, threatened to be taken to court by management if l didn't pay for lunches we never ordered or received over $600, the place is a joke for the money you pay, but they have it wrapped up, as very little choices up there.
Stay away!

Dear Sharon, we are so sorry to hear that you had such an experience. We can assure you that we are taking your feedback to heart as we pride ourselves on providing quality customer service from our hospitality and tourism team. Unfortunately we don't get it right 100% of the time as on some occasions our staff are run off our feet. We are a small community owned business operating in a remote location with plenty of challenges. It is why, as you mentioned, we are one of the few establishments that manages to provide 4 star quality accommodation (TQAL tourism accredited) and tour options in the northern most point of mainland Australia. Thanks for taking the time to give us a review and we hope you enjoyed the rest of your visit to the Cape.

I stayed in a cabin for work and it was very clean. The cabin had 2 rooms, a large room with kitchenette, beds and TV and a bathroom. It had a double and a single in the main room with a small TV. There is a coffee pod machine and full size fridge. It would be quite easy to spend some time in this cabin comfortably.
The reception team was pleasant as was the restaurant staff.
We ate there twice and both meals were nice and large. The prices were not high considering the remoteness of the location.
Nice stay for work, but if you want to see the tip of the Australian mainland, I would recommend you stay here.

ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE.
I’m only leaving one star as zero stars isn’t available, plus the surrounding bush was nice. Nothing else was good though.
My husband and I stayed here the second weekend in July, and paid good money to do so. The worst issue we had was my husband was covered in bites;as in bed bug bites. He made himself bleed from scratching so much.
The rooms were dirty;the bedding filthy, and the mattress itself was hard and old.
We waited years to get up here and were looking forwards to it so much, and then to finally get here and stay and get bitten and sleep terribly!?! Never again. Save your money and go elsewhere!!
Whoever is running this place needs to lift their game and clean up the place! People pay good money to stay, and get a dirty bug infested room! It’s completely unacceptable.
We will never be back, never stay again and will tell everyone we know (friends family and business connections) to never stay here. It could be an amazing stay but the management just hasn’t bothered.

We were concerned to read your negative review and were surprised given that the property has undergone a $2.5m upgrade over the last two years, including the replacement of all of our linen, quilts and towels earlier this year. Our beds and mattresses are of the best quality. In terms of the cleanliness of rooms, our housekeeping manager thoroughly checks all rooms before our guests arrive to ensure they are of a high standard. We are hosts to all the leading tours operators, as well as government and corporate guests, and have not received a similar complaint from the thousands of guests who visit us each year. This includes since mid July. After investigating this matter, we cannot find any reports from recent guests that match the nature of your description in this review. Can you please provide the name of your booking and dates of stay here or via reception@cypl.com.au so we can verify that you did in fact stay with us and haven’t mistaken our accommodation for another property?

So grateful for the cultural experience we had touring Pajinka with two elders at Cape York Peninsula Lodge. Uncle Michael and Uncle Tommy welcomed us to their country and took great care for our safety to make it a wonderful experience right from the start. They both had a terrific sense of humour and shared stories from their culture including the Aboriginal story of the island’s formation dating back to the Ice Age! They took extra special care of one of our group who had trouble walking and was quite elderly, even changing our tour to make sure we were able to reach the northern most point (we learned to call it the Top of Australia or Pajinka). They took ‘the selfie’ for us in front of the sign and the view was really worth it. This was a once in a lifetime trip that the whole group enjoyed immensely.

The office staff, drivers, guides, restaurant staff are all so friendly and efficient. Our trips to the tip of Australia and the fruit bat falls were just so good and made personal by the guides. The restaurant must have a chef trained in a Michelin star restaurant. Everything just good memories.

Bamaga you didn’t disappoint!
We stayed two nights with a tour to the tip something we had wanted to do and it didn’t disappoint!
Our tour guide Robin was/is an asset to the business. Helpful, patient and full of local information.
The staff are very helpful but in saying that they seem to be a bit disorganised.
Be prepared this is not the ritz but given its remote location they are doing a great job.
