Planned an overnight stay but due to bad weather heading towards Kununarra we stayed 2 nights for $30 per night fir a powered site. The pub would have charged $45. We dined at Timber Creek pub which has 2 Marlborough SB & good meals. In the morning we had an inexpensive but very good breakfast at the bakery including a cappuccino. We bought 2 $10 meals from the pub shop which we Microwaved for dinner. Also played pool at the pub. The camp ground had a pool & a very small camp kitchen with no sink. Had to walk to the amenities laundry for a sink. Would recommend staying here than at the Victoria River Crossing road house which closes at 7pm and is managed by a very rude man!! No after hours emergency petrol pump nor mobile service.
We stopped for a quick bite to eat. Had a choice of baked goods, including the best pastie I've ever had. Hubby bought a shirt, and the owners had no hesitation in letting him try them on to get a good fit. Well stocked shop, with a range of fresh fruit and veg. Friendly people, and very clean premises. We will be back to spend some time in the camping area. 10 out of 10
We looked for accommodation so we could do the sunset cruise, the staff we helpful, the rooms clean, with grassed areas and just a short walk two doors up for the cruise pick up, must say they did have the thinnest toilet paper l have ever come across- ladies with nails, warning take your own .
Pulled up to refuel. Very friendly staff and beaut little bakery. Plenty of groceries for supplies. Owner generously offering free sites for a period of time. Would definitely pay to stay anyway. Clean amenities. Resident Croc at back of park fed regularly. Great drive to Gregory NP.
We called in here & checked the price. Free power & water. Can you believe it! We called in for one night and are still here 4 days later. Lovely pool to cool off in, a great shop with their own bakery and good supply of groceries. Enjoying the peace and the Manager is helpful & friendly. Singer & guitarist staying here and is putting on a free show between 4-6pm at the camp kitchen. A lot of fun. Very generous owner. Thank you.
Pleasant location, with grassed sites, basic but clean facilities. Very helpful manager. Price reflects level of amenities. Would stay overnight again. Handy shop and reasonable petrol prices. Good stopover point between Katherine and Kunnanurra.
We stopped here recently on our way back to Katherine and decided to grab a fresh pastry from the Bakery, it was delicious and something we look forward to when we go away is a traditional Bakery, I was a bit let down that they didn't have steak, cheese and bacon pie. But the pastry we had was very good.
Fires caused the road from Timfber Creek to Kununura to be closed This caused congestion in Timber Creek. with a whole number of people stranded there unexpectedly. We had no vodaphone service and purchased a Telstra phone, that we needed assistance with, from the store. We bumped into a young woman travelling form the USA who was in a similar position. The manageress of the store was rude and unhelpful to my husband, myself and the young American traveller. There was however a young employee in the store who took pity on us. She loaned her phone to the American girl who was ever so grateful to be helped especially after the rudeness and heartlessness of the manageress. The young employee also kindly spent time with us trying to get our Tesltra phone connected. That is until she was reprimanded by the manageress. We were embarrassed by the behaviour of the manageress who presented a very ugly picture of Australian hospitality to a visitor who was travelling around our country.…
Pulled up at Wirib Tourist pk, this place has had some Reno’s since we last called in... staff were great and van site was good as well. We parked away from the ck as there were bats in the trees so didn’t want any nasty surprises on the car in the morning.. bats were a little noisy but didn’t keep us awake, cute little park with good amenities and well stocked shop.
If you get to the end of the day and cannot make it to either Kununurra or Katherine depending on your direction then this roadhouse camping is a good choice. There is a free camp site near here Big horse, but you might want power and to cool off in the pool. We found a shady spot, was entertained by 100s of flying foxes, and the store was there for a little ice cream. Pool is small but low season meant almost no one. They do a croc feeding in high season.
