Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The 'pod' I stayed in was clean, bed was comfy and even though a King single it was big enough for one night. It was very small but has what you need. Yes there are bats and yes they poo, I have them where I live and just wash it off. Nature was here before humans. Considering you're out in the middle of nowhere, it was a pretty good deal. The restaurant food was good and the staff were friendly. The little shop came in handy and had a good range of products. There are signs of age in areas but it wouldn't be easy or cheap to get people out to upgrade and modernise. I would be more than happy to stay again if ever out that way.

This is a great spot for an overnight stop. The campground is situated back from road behind roadhouse buildings and so is very quiet at night. The price is very reasonable and the amenities were old but clean. There are many fruit bats in the trees so may have to wash your vehicle.

$45+ for a powered site to be parked under a bat colony, car, caravan and us covered in bat poo from when you get there to when you leave. When asked the staff about warning people before they pay and park or about any disease that the bats carry they had no clue and didn't really care, only offered a hose to wash car after we said we would wash it with the windscreen washer at the bowser

Response from Timber Creek, Owner at Timber Creek Travellers Rest
Responded 25 July 2023
Hi 1allycat1, This is a rather comical review. We do have a significant number of "bats" at the moment and we advise every camper/caravanner of this at the time of book in. Many still choose to stay and we park them all towards the edge of the park as these are the less affected areas. We even encourage people to take a look before they decide so they make a well informed decision. You were no different. We also advise that we have set up a wash bay so that you can clean any "bat business" off your car in the morning. How you claim to not have heard this is quite amazing, but then again you also managed to spend quite some time standing in the open long enough to be covered in bat poo yourself! Amazing! Enjoy.

The room was just very small with a double bed pushed against the wall. The dinner at the hotel attached to the motel was however really lovely with friendly staff. Motel room was clean and quiet and lovely gardens and pool. Despite its size it was ok for a night while travelling.

We stayed twice, a week apart. No frills but clean. One night was in a cabin with en-suite bathroom. This was the smallest double accommodation I have ever encountered. Double bed jammed against one wall and barely 30cm space between bed and the other wall and very little room to move around bedroom or bathroom. It did have the usual frig and hospitality tray. The more expensive motel room was above the roadhouse and accessed by a steep outdoor staircase It was much larger, its desk and shelves had seen better days but it was clean. This is the room shown in the Trip Advisor photo. The hotel serves dinner, which must be ordered before 6.30pm.

I was tired; combine that with idiots rushing home towing caravans with too many toys on the roof!!! so I stopped at Timber Creek Hotel... GREAT cheerful staff, clean room and possibly the best donga I have stayed in over many years, they are a sensible option on the road!! Timber Creek Hotel again, and it is my third stop here in seven days ... Coffee is excellent from the machine and tastes great, so I assume the staff clean it all the time. Great poached eggs, sandwiches ok, at least fresh. Saturday dinner menu special was Chillie but not to my taste; I think tiredness made me play with it! Everybody checks that guests are happy! That shows the great character of this little spot. Clean and very nice, well done!

We stayed 2 nights at the Timber Creek Hotel whilst on a birding tour. The rooms were clean and functional. The bathrooms had been recently rejuvenated and were the best so far on our tour.We liked the Hotel restaurant which served good quality staples such as Chicken Parma and Beer Battered Barra.Very tasty dishes.Really liked the campgrounds next to the Hotel which had lots of native birds.Easy to recommend.

These guys are a Puma first Puma I’ve been to and the RACQ card was not accepted! We have almost finished our lap of Australia!!!! They are also more expensive than the united. I think some of these businesses forget if it wasn’t for travellers and caravanning they would be broke. Here I was trying to support them and all they did was rip us off.

Response from Timber Creek, Owner at Timber Creek Travellers Rest
Responded 27 July 2023
Hi, We are an independent service station with Puma Branding, not all Puma Service Stations participate in the RACQ discount scheme. We do now accept the card and offer the discount, despite not having to. I don't know how simply selling you fuel is ripping you off. The United has been closed for some time now, and given you have travelled around Australia you would have seen many places with more expensive fuel than us. We appreciate you support. Thanks
