Lorella is a stunning place to stay. Amazing billabongs and hot and cold waterholes. You can drive alll the way to the gulf 'waterfront' - yea it's 4WD but that is whom it is there for. Stunning scenery and fishing down the Rosie River. Great campsites - Lorella has a million acres with dozens of places to camp. Owners Marie and Rhett and very helpful as were Leslie, Tristan and everyone else. We have been there twice, each time spending over a week and I'd go back tomorrow. Plan to stay a few days and pack appropriate supplies and fuel. Like most remote outback places Lorella has reasonable 'emergency supplies' and does cooked evening meals - but there ain't a Woolies down the road. I almost want to avoid telling people about Lorella it is so, so good! See you at Lorella…

My wife and I were fortunate to be able to stay with Rhett and Marie and all the team at Lorella Springs. After two weeks on the road we opted for a delightful air conditioned cabin for 4 nights. We were able to set off each morning and check out the water holes and significant natural features that Lorella has to option. On our last day we took a magnificent helicopter adventure with Nick from Northern Helicopter Charter. Nick is not just a skilful Helicopter Pilot, but a fabulous intelligent and highly educated man. Nick flew us to one of his secret isolated water holes, landing the chopper on a narrow rock escarpment measuring no more than 3x 3 metres. We enjoyed a peaceful swim while nick boiled the billy. Absolutely outstanding.

An amazing privately owned and family run property, keeping the experience authentic and not touristy. It has something for everyone. If you want remote bush camping with access on rough 4WD roads and not another soul in sight or you want to camp closer to the main area with hot showers and a restaurant it’s up to you. We love that it’s not commercialised and the relaxed feel. You could spend anywhere from 2 nights to two weeks and still discover new corners. We can’t wait to get back.

We spent one night at Lorella as part of a tour, but could have spent a week there! The Rhett and Marie are wonderful hosts, as are the boys and the rest of the staff there. The hot springs are great for a relaxing swim. The rooms are clean and tidy. Cuddling the young wallabies and feeding the emu was a bonus for those who love their animals. Fair enough, the food and alcohol is a little expensive, but that is to be expected given that their closest supermarket is 14 hours drive away!! People go there for the camping, the 4wding, exploring and having fun!

Lorella Springs is a lovely spot. Best time to visit is after the wet otherwise waterholes have dried up. We all loved the hot springs near the homestead. Love the donkey hot water system. Campground is huge. Food, fuel and supplies are unbelievably expensive. Kids nuggets and chips $25! The Croc in the enclosure doesn't work.

"The croc in the enclosure doesn't work".... Now here is a review we have not had before. What on earth does that even mean?! It's a crocodile in a crocodile pond... sharing with Barramundis, tortoises, file snakes and other NT marine life in a frameless glass fenced pond for all to be able to see and enjoy. Please clarify how "it" is supposed to "work". As for the dried waterholes at the end of the Dry Season, 6 months after the last drop of rain, if only you had done your research properly you would have realised that Lorella has more swimming holes than anywhere else in the Top End. However, Yes, we did say come to the homestead reception to ask us which of our 16 swimming holes are still flowing this time of year, and we did say Not to head out without directions to make sure you find what you are looking for. Kids meals, as well as fuel and food supplies, are only meant to be an extra facility we provide for your convenience, not to be relied on. No one comes to this part of the world without supplies or food.

This is a beautiful 4WD park next to Limmen National Park in the Northern Territory so it is quite remote and truly requires 4WD with low range. It is not easy to access and the higher prices reflect the remote location. However, it is stunningly beautiful and offers camping with toilets and hot showers or remote camping as long as you register where you plan to go. There are hundreds of km of 4WD tracks, some can be quite sandy. The hosts are very knowledgable and have maps to help you decide where to explore. There is also a restaurant/bar with a limited evening menu. Unfortunately, we only had two nights in the campground, but I can't wait to have the opportunity to return and explore more of the property.

We have just had the most amazing time here at Lorella Springs! We spent 10 nights exploring the property and met some of the best people we have ever come across on the road. You are so spoilt for experiences at this property! You can 4wd, fish, swim, bushwalk, birdwatch and so much more. We did all of the above and we also just relaxed at the Homestead Hot Spring and enjoyed some cold beers with fellow roast rippers!! Great spot! You need to check this out. WOW!

This station is accessed at the end of a pretty rough road... but it is well worth the shake-up. Great reception and they show you a short video of what the station offers. Plenty of great caravan/camping sites to choose from. There is also a thermal pool which is very popular with guests.

Lorella station has a lot of highlights as advertised. However it is a property of 1 million hectares and most of the attractions are wildy dispersed. For example coastal fishing is a 3 hour drive away on very ordinary tracks. During August it was very dry and not many swimming holes open. The road in from the Savannah Way is 29 kms and is the worst road we travelled on in the NT. Meal and beer prices were at the top end of outback pricing and the nightly tariff is $40 a couple unpowered. On the positive side there is a hot spring pool and plenty of open space camping.

Wow wow wow. The amount of people complaining about roads going in etc. You are in the middle of absolutely nowhere. And the roads were just fine! So the camping is a huge grassed area with tonnes of free camping options. Not a problem. The roads in the park are definitely 4wd only but a stock 4wd would do most of them. Here’s the problem though - when you get there they spruke to you all these ‘amazing’ locations you can drive to and how many days you will need to stay to see it all. It’s very exciting. Problem is that a fair few of these amazing locations are pretty ordinary. Two tips- don’t go to scary things swamp. There is nothing there except some pin stripes for your car. And don’t go to ship creek late in the dry season otherwise change the P to a T. Also…
